My sister had a friend whose husband went deep sea fishing with some buddies. They got caught in a storm, and everybody on the boat perished at sea. After the storm had passed, searchers found pieces of the boat and debris and personal items of the fishermen, but no bodies. The insurance company said to his wife sorry for your loss, but no body, no money. They had no children, she never remarried, and she struggled financially. At the end of her long, long wait, in the seventh year, before she could collect, she got an aggressive form of cancer and died. It was tragic, and just felt so deeply wrong and unfair.
Never been a huge Robin Williams fan but I think he redeemed himself in this one. Wow, what a plot. It was good to the young Woody a and Holly Hunter was beautiful. Reading the comments some thought there was a “Fargo” vibe. And, yeah, there was a lot of snow. Also, I’am not sure that even Fargo could keep up with the White.
Such an underrated under appreciated movie I found back in the day when Walmart would sell a pile of DVD movies that did bad at the box office some sucked but there where hidden gems like this to discover.
I thought that amongst the many laugh out loud moments the shot of the cemetary enterance with the sign St Olaffs cemetary was brilliant Olaff was a viking that discovered newfoundland.
It would suck so bad to have your wife or husband just lose it one day it happened to my friends mom she was normal in the morning went to work and never came home she spent the rest of her life institutionalized very sad situation
But what does one not do to get out of a financial predicament In this film, however, the main character, magnificently played by Robin Williams, succeeds in both swindling and deceiving his way out on the other side with both money - and love intact. A funny and entertaining movie filmed at "drone height" in a lovely snowy Alaska.
Yes, folks, at the beginning the sound gets glitchy at times but it doesn't last, so don't let it put you off, or else you'll miss a very entertaining movie, that is if you have a good sense of dark humour like I do!
Now I know why this movie has 5 BIG Hollywood name's and I've never heard of it............But Merry Christmas everybody !!!!!!!!!! Happy Holidays !!!!!!

You can do a crime story with humor in it, but you cant do a comedy with crime in it. Murder kills the comedy. This movie was neither. Good acting though. Fire the dierctor and the screen writers.
