In this week's video, we made our way over to the Tucson Convention Center for the 2022 Tucson Gem & Mineral Society's Gem Show, this year's "Main Show," aka the "Show That Glows." This show, while smaller than years past, featured a beautiful array of fluorescent minerals & gems on display under uv light. From calcite to willemite, it was amazing to see all that glows at the Tucson Gem Show!
In addition to the featured content at this years show, the show included the typical vendors with world-class gems & jewelry. Our favorite booth being that of Evan jones' Unique Minerals from Cave Creek, AZ, featuring beautiful natural silver formations, fluorite, wulfenite, pyromorphite, azurite, & much much more!
Another true highlight of the show were the exhibits of personal collections from around the world. Including the world's largest kunzite - "Fragility of the Eternal," and a very special collection from Daniel Trinchillo's Fine Minerals International.
All in all this show, well, had it all. It blew us away with some beauty we had not seen before and we'll be sure to mark our calendars for next year. Boy I wish to figure out what uv light they use

Virtually everything seen in the video is illuminated by 254nm shortwave ultraviolet light from low pressure mercury vapor discharge tubes made of a fused quartz envelope and mounted behind ZWB3 or UG5 bandpass filter glass to absorb and omit the visible light while admitting the high energy UV through.
