shout out to person at 1:30 who coughed in time with the choir
Brilliant performance - they make it look and sound easy - it isn't!
Can attest to that. Performed it more than a decade ago when I was in the choir in college. Not easy, but so damn fun!
Oh, I LOVE the fact that they're all in Halloween costume for this! So were we, when we performed it!
Perfect, both pitch and interpretation!
The harmonies and chords in this are exquisite. I can tell it's a very difficult piece, and it's definitely a very beautiful piece of choral music. :)
Is it wrong that I was expecting the Harry Potter version??
However, the bass held it down.
For me it was the other way around: I wish they had sung this version in Harry Potter!
@@pahvi3 nah, don't fit
With the toads???
Yes.
no, you associate this with HP - thanks to warner brothers ;)
This song was composed to my current choir. :) Of course I didn't sing in my choir back then, but anyway, we sang it in my choir's 80'th anniversary some years back and it's super fun piece - of a great set of 4 shakespeare songs by Jaakko Mäntyjärvi.
Terveisiä entiseltä kakkosaltolta Jaakko Mäntyjärven kuoronjohtajuuden ajalta!
Well,in my music school (in Hungary) we're working on this song. I must say that now I've seen that great performance,I like it much more than before. :)
1:32 Literally my face when I heard this. 😳😳😳
And, was it only me who expected the _Harry Potter_ version?
Mee too
This was composed in 1984 by Jaakko Mäntyjärvi from Finland. Great interpretation by the University of Utah Singers, congratulations!
the only thing this video told me was that all conductors should wear cloaks
Who came here because of Harry Potter?
Me
That and Macbeth
answer please, it's not from Harry Potter right?
Me
@@FedeGode Harry potter used the song
Something wicked this way comes!
Like if you get the reference.
Eye of newt and toe of frog...
The Bowz DUBBLE DUBBLE TOIL AND TROUBLE FIRE BURN AND CULDORN BUBBLE
Itachi Uchiha Wool of bat and tongue of dog
Open locks, whoever knocks.
The witches were trying to trick Macbeth but why did Macbeth keep going back to them he shouldn’t have killed the king anyway
Hahaha, that was perfect! I loved the part where the entire choir mimiced witches; The facial expressions on that guy with the witch's hat were priceless. 0:58-1:16. You guys are amazing. Not much else can be said. Not one single detail was spared
oh my god this is perfection
@xKirstynHippe The music in PoA is written for the film, this is a piece written specifically for choirs - they have nothing to do with each other. The text is just taken directly from Shakespearein both cases, so the text will inevitably be almost the same. :)
Jaakko Mäntyjärvi is a genius. He makes such fascinating pieces!
Specjalnie się zalogowałam żeby oddać swój głos. Oczywiście łapka w górę. Chór znakomity, nie mogłam się oderwać od ekranu.
Jesteście super :) Pozdrawiam :)
Awesome! Incredible discipline to pull this off. . . and do so nearly perfectly.
Whoa! That is about the most awesome thing I have heard all week!
Good job on a very difficult piece!
I love this
1:03 this guy...
The sheer Epicness!!! I would Love to perform this composition...Love Dr Allred's Cape
Brilliant piece!
LOOOOL the guy at 1:00 xD
Any one else find the guy wearing the 'Phantom' mask to be awesome?
+Atem Andrew I know him, and he IS awesome!
Ian McDougal Cool!
+Atem Andrew there is a blond one next to the one with a tiara that outshines it all.
His fandom is misplaced singing this song....
Atem Andrew With all of my being YES
Seeing this piece live is truly an experience
Great work I love it
This is amazing
i love this chior, if i didnt already love my college i would transfer. Thank you for posting
this is most excellent !!!!!
Love this.
Wow i love this song
Not an easy piece. Well executed.
And excellent conducting!
Sencillamente excelente. Impecable presentaciòn. Excellent!
My choir performed this when I was in college. So much fun!
aaw! loooove it!
Used to sing this with the choir several years ago! Nice memories!
Yes, this and the HP version both took the words from Macbeth, but since the tunes are entirely different, I wouldn't call them the same song.
So magical
this is cool! i am reading Macbeth in my English
class! (stupid keyboard)
***** the line is that the song is from the play Macbeth
I love this!!!! :) :)
GREAT done!
we sang this in choir years ago and it was the most fun. we had such a good time acting all sinister
I love the guy's crown at 0:28 and the stomp at the end was awesome!
Great job!
amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
seriously talented :)
splendid!
god i love that laugh at 2:58 ... it's so... witchy:D
this is really well done
fascinating song~
La meilleure version, et de loin !!!
Straight from Macbeth! I had to learn these lines!
I love 2:08 - 2:16 ! This part is so amazing...! AWESOMEEEEEE!!!!!! First time I listen to a capella choir...
Stop comparing this to the Harry Potter version. Both are EXTREMELY different in composition, and both have their merits. I personally think this version is much more fun, but again, I don't think we should really compare the two seeing how drastically different they are.
That is awesome
Amazing.
Wow that was really neat sounding! :)
questi non sono mai più usciti da casa!
Perfectly badass. Not what I was expecting but still impressive
This is the best version i never heard before, congratilations... more acting can make the piece more funny, but in musical way is just perfect!!! P.D. Sorry about my english, and kisses from spain.
Probably the best interpretation and execution of this difficult piece on youtube. Amazing performance, thank you. :)
i really enjoy the costumes. =)
woooooooooaaah. this is way good. :)
great interpretation,,,,
Brilliant.
with headphones is so much fun :P
Great song to sing for this choir.
I pressed the 'like' button at least ten times .. just to be sure .. O.O
You do realize pressing it ten times cancels it out right?
The 10th time dislikes.. you should press it 11 times you moron! Do it or else something wicked your way comes
I now have this whole spell memorized to read in my world literature class
me and my choir the choir school of Delaware are actually singing this song and the choir is from ages 7 and up and I hope when it is time to perform we do it in person but I doubt it.
But you guys did really good
perfect.
if you prefer it then go listen to it and leave the top comment to some one who like this version
que bueno!
1:02 he definitely is a wizard
I did this piece for UIL last year. It's a fantastic song and sadly most Harry potter lovers don't know exactly where this sing even came from. Shame in them
Original and inspired. They have captured the magic of harry potter and the ominous tone of the song perfectly!
It's from macbeth, not harry potter. John Williams version was made AFTER this version
Thrice the brinded cat hath mew’d.
Thrice and once the hedge-pig whined.
Harpier cries ’Tis time, ’tis time.
Round about the cauldron go;
In the poison’d entrails throw.
Toad, that under cold stone
Days and nights has thirty-one
Swelter’d venom sleeping got,
Boil thou first i’ the charmed pot.
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the cauldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder’s fork and blind-worm’s sting,
Lizard’s leg and owlet’s wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
Scale of dragon, tooth of wolf,
Witches’ mummy, maw and gulf
Of the ravin’d salt-sea shark,
Root of hemlock digg’d i’ the dark,
Liver of blaspheming Jew,
Gall of goat, and slips of yew
Silver’d in the moon’s eclipse,
Nose of Turk and Tartar’s lips,
Finger of birth-strangled babe
Ditch-deliver’d by a drab,
Make the gruel thick and slab:
Add thereto a tiger’s chaudron,
For the ingredients of our cauldron.
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and cauldron bubble.
By the pricking of my thumbs,
Something wicked this way comes.
Thank you
Very well done, the choir I'm in has problems with the bass pitch and speed of song, I'm really impressed they can do it so well
omg♥
Que vaina de linda *-*
I have to sing this with my choir in December
It's the same with catholic schools, right in my Chamber choir we're also singing this song.. why not, it's music. And it's good. And it's fantasy.
i like it XD
super
The guy at 1:00 is really getting into it [He's also got himself a set of fangs there]. Lol. Real talent those people have.
lovely sops and altos! you guys almost sound like one :)
@SuperJigles Oh no. Sorry I missed that look on his face from the close up, thanks for pointing him out to me!
@karlabanjo He's getting into the music. It also helps to make faces when you sing nasally.
@Canadaisblaa Ahem, if you are referring to the Harry Potter song, this was composed earlier.
@gangster001A
Yeah, I am. We were definetly not as good as this ones, but we enjoyed singing it very much. :D
Casual Friday at the opera

A Harry Potter song sung in the middle of Mormon Central--BRILLIANT

@elendless Or perhaps some of us have read and studied Macbeth AND love Harry Potter.
