I don't have a new one planned for this year (not yet at least). If you haven't seen it yet, check out the Print-in-place Christmas tree puzzle from last year :)
Really nice.. but the white belly are infinitely cuter but only available for multi-material.. wonder if easy to make a 'belly piece' on an arc that can be printed upright without support. Then can glue into belly cutout.
It's a trickier print due to thin walls, but it is possible! I've added the middle with separate parts for the belly. Make sure your extrusion width is nicely dialed in and add some generous brims for stability. Good luck!
Awesome! Can the new sweater be scaled down for the smaller snowmen? (What % would be needed?) Also, can you print the white and black parts of the body separately?
Glad you like it! The giant snowman is 400% scale, so just shrink down the sweater to 25% to get back to the mini size. The button holes are different, though, so I'd consider printing the version of the sweater without buttons... or scale down the giant ones. You will probably need a brim as well, since there isn't much bed contact. The penguin center with a white belly is now available in parts. Same advice as above - use a brim because the parts are small and don't have much contact with the print bed. Good luck!
Tried it out at 200%. Worked great mostly. Thank you. My giant snowman is about to have more friends. And a snow woman to go with since there is such a nice sweater now I must try! Couple nice to haves might be some index marks for center of feet on lower body. Also did like you said about printing off multiple sets of feet, beaks and eyes. Only problem is I couldn't tell which was the right or left. Maybe next time I might deboss the feet with L or R underneath. I did go back into the slicer and press undo till I was back at that build plate since it wasn't closed yet. When printing the head with no hat at .2 layer height with a .4 nozzle, I did get some finish issues on the underside only. What layer height did you use for a 200% scale? Again thanks for all your hard work. I don't want to come across as criticism in any way. Take care.
Glad you like it! And designs can always be improved, so I don't take critiques harshly at all :) Good news about the feet - they're actually identical! There's no harm in printing more of one side than the other. I guess the file names suggest otherwise... maybe I'll rename the file. As for the positioning of the feet, I left that intentionally ambiguous. Some people might prefer a wider or narrower stance. I also printed mine with .2mm layer height. The overhang there is quite steep... steeper than my usual 45 degree cutoff. However, that section of the head is usually hidden within the "neck" of the penguin's torso, so I risked it. Printing slowly and with plenty of cooling should still result in an okay surface finish. Of course the hat version of the head is an easier print, since that DOES cut off at the 45 degree mark. Thanks for the feedback! I hope this explains my thoughts behind those design choices, even if the conclusions I made might not be the same as what others might decide :)
@@3DPrinty Thank you very much for the insight, it's helpful. I was going to change my overhangs, or dynamic overhang, settings and try again. I cannot thank you enough for sharing all your hard work and knowledge. My family, including my daughter, loves these... along with some of the others I've tried like the giant snowman, pumpkin snowman, DK barrell... etc. They make everyone smiles that sees them. Some of my fav projects. Your channel is one of my absolute favourite 3D maker channels.
Absolutely awesome update to the snowmen! Have you seen any issue with scaling these guys up? I'll be your guinea pig, at least until that large version releases.... 😉 Truly top notch designs and ideas. I don't know what your day job is, but this should be it!
So far I've been able to print it at 200% scale with no issues :) Larger should be possible, but it starts getting wasteful since the walls become unnecessarily thick. I'll probably design a version optimized for huge prints, just like the giant (400% scale) snowman.
My camera is a Sony ZV-1. I don't know much when it comes to lighting, but I do know that it helps to have a lot of it. I use two large Neewer barndoor LED lights, two small LED panels, and a fairly common ring light as the camera stand. I hope that helps!
Oh, he's just adorable! Live the sweater too!!
I'd love to figure out how to make more "knitted" models. They look so cool when printed :)
They are adorable Mr. Printy. I can't wait to make a couple of them.
Thank you! Good luck with your prints :)
This is another cute print for the holidays!
Yeah Its sooooo cute
This is awesome. Definitely gonna print a couple of these to go along with the snowmen and pumpkin men.
The collection keeps growing! I already have next year's theme planned :)
He'll yeah!
Nice, thanks for sharing.

curas fuzzy print mode looks really good on those snow people
Awesome penguins!!
Another great project !!!
Thank you
now i will have something to do in the weekend
My giant snowman needs a giant penguin friend haha!
Agreed! I haven't made an optimized larger version (not yet anyway), but I did print a 200% scale penguin and it turned out well :)
@@3DPrinty Gonna try that too! Love your work. Seriously, you add a lot of joy, often!
I love their expression! Thank you so much!
Thank you! I can't decide yet if they're shocked or dazed :)

Another awesome model, and vid! Thank you!
Thank you!

You need to make a Pingu design
I'm always a fan of remixes. Perhaps someone will remix that :)
Name the penguin Pablo the penguin 2.0
Aaaannnd now I have to buy more filament 😅
I know the struggle ;)
Sooooooooooooooo cute I LOVE IT!!! So I subed
