Hey FrostBolt, I heard you talk about Heavy GL's for PvP in another video and I just realized the new craftable raid Gl has your godroll of Proxy, Impulse, Full Court P.S. Thanks for the movement tech!
Thank you for the breakdown frost. I've been using the strand hunter with exotic since watching you slay in trials with it. You definitely answered alot of questions I had regarding the weapon surges value, resilence, and more.
Amazing video as always Frabo, but this video in particular is awesome for the time and dedication put into it! I would love for a video like this for your arc titan build for thunder crash!!!!
Thanks, Frosty! I got some young men I helped get their 130k and 200k nightfalls trying to help granny, 68 yr old, go flawless. I may use Hunter so gonna study this. You are one of my fav PvP content creators! Never whining, always positive! Hunter strand super sure hard to get kills so great tips! My other issue is aiming dive on controller! Never goes the direction I want! Oh, granny, you so funny!
frost I trust your intuition on resilience but did you take into account flinch resist it could be good to have 100 resil if you are sniping or using weapons where less flinch helps a lot
Thanks for all the important tips man but Frost why did you think we didnt want to see gameplay on top of this. Also, can you do Titan and warlock as well? How would you use warlock and titan in these mastery builds for strand? If not strand, what are you using right now on those? Alot to ask, but more content for you and more insight for us! Win win!
Kill clip is insanely fun on this handcannon and useful I’ve used this handcannon more than any other weapon I ever have in crucible but I like the consistency of opening shot a bit more for more of a stat monster hand canon rather then relying on the two taps especially in 3v3s where there is less of a use for kill clip and more dueling this is just my opinion not everyone will agree with me.
Nice build Frost! I agree with pretty much everything except resilience. Now, personally I always sit between tier 3 and 5 and while you're right saying that in PVP it won't do much difference when it comes to damage resistance, there are some exceptions (thorn just to make one example) and we need to take into account the flinch resistance relate to resilience.
I play all three classes. My titan is usually at 80-100 resil and my hunter goes no higher than 30 in PvP. From my personal playtime experience it makes almost no difference. I feel like I receive pretty much the same flinch regardless of how high my resil is so if there is a difference it’s barely noticeable.
@@TerraTheWise I play with all three classes too and on Titan with 100 res compared to my main (hunter with 30-50 res depending on the sub class I'm using) I notice a difference in flinch. Now, personally I hit my shots either way but I can't deny that aim is more stable on Titan. Is it a game changing factor? Of course not but with some weapons it helps.
Flinch should be a non issue with his build, due to the exotic. I don’t really know why he’s running loader and dex mods though. Personally I’d replace those with grenade kickstarts, since it’s bugged for hunter and gives you energy even if you grapple to a tangle. That means infinite grapples, for infinite woven mail, infinite increased handling, and infinite free reloads with thread of ascent.
@@jonasharp3 i feel like its more specific to playstyle - the dex mods REALLY help the round Robin. It's pretty good on its own, but the extra handling really helps it out
Great video, but also discovered the same movement techs with strand warlock. We play a lot in 10k, high elo lobbies due to sbmm so it's imperative to utilise the class to its fullest as im sure you know to fight the popular subclasses. One TECH you may have missed is when you hold a tangle, the animations of throwing and meleeing with class have no delay, so you can press nade to throw it and melee literally at the same time and it will cause an instant frag for 202 damage. The animation of the ball exploding/throwing will disappear and you will melee instead but the damage and where the ball was being thrown will count, sometimes no audio. This works great with ophidians for a oneshot melee justframe tech with tangle for cqb.
Not sure what techs you’re referring to when many of them are dive related and warlocks can’t instantly get their own grapples back by themselves. Almost nothing here applies to warlocks.
@@TerraTheWise I'll try in simpler terms: When you have a tangle held, you can press melee at the same time as the tangle/grenade throw button both inputs count instantly fragging someone for 202 (101 from tangle explosion straight into melee also 101) You end up skipping the throw animation and just one hit meleeing the Enemy next to you.
What about the fragment for more grenade energy from dealing damage? I assume you feel with 10 dis you usually have a grapple available when needed? So just not worth it?
One thing to keep in mind is surges do stack with empowering buffs, so if you use empowering rift or maybe lumina or have other ways to get empowering buffs surges may be worth running for you
Hey Frost, just curious if you’ve noticed a difference between high and low resil when it comes to Flinch Resistance?? Went from a 2 to a 7 on hunter and it’s killed my other stats
This was my question as well. I'm more worried about flinch resistance than I am with any other aspect of resilience. Curious how big the difference is between high and low resil.
What is the actual time difference between like tier 3 and tier 10 recovery, in getting back to full shields from being one-shot? I would love to see a comparison of recovery speeds at each level 🤞
Great video Frost! I was wondering if I could get your thoughts ( pvp players feel free to pitch in) how does this compete in the highest levels of pvp (end grind for Comp and trials)? Secondly how does this set up compare to warlock and titan builds? Cheers
This is probably going to end up a giant paragraph but: armour stat wise - great (if on warlock/titan, mobility can be replaced for your choice of LITERALLY anything else). Once again, his armour mod suggestions are - great. His personal choice of exotic and subclass - eh. If you want to use strand, definitely go ahead and use this build, in my eyes it is definitely the best choice for all 3 classes as a strand build, is 100% competitive, and will not hold you back. However, at the very highest end, disregarding the differences in each players style and skill I think stasis hunter is the top with the enlarged duskfield aspect. (Frost has a stasis build just briefly before lightfall if you want to look) also, young ahamkaras spine on solar hunter is very basic to build and very effective with very little effort. As for titan, I personally can't suggest strand, arc/void are much better and easier, and dont require half the building. Warlock, people complain about the strand, but its pretty good (TrueVanguard made a good video on his build) Well of radiance is great for an early super, and there are also a few somewhat niche but very powerful builds - osmiomancy stasis, neurotic grip arc uppercut. I got lost a bit and went off into different builds but to just give you something short: THIS BUILD- great, maybe not absolute best, but definitely worth. Titan strand builds- nobody can convince me that they are worth using, maybe good, but I find them mediocre. Warlock - Pretty great, not in the same tier as hunter at the VERY highest competitive, but great.
@@gamez4lyfe187 thank you so much for the write up! I really appreciated the response. I’m a returning player and I’ve been out of the loop for a bit. Atleast expand on what you think needs nerfing? In the highest levels of play (were all 10k, and scrim here and there) Strand is extremely difficult to utilise effectively Vs light subclasses which are a lot easier to get value out of then strand (combo based class relying on weapons to clean up, similar to stasis)
You need to think beyond the highest levels. If you saw the video, you won't need me to explain why some things WILL BE nerfed (note that I didn't say THEY NEED TO BE nerfed). The same thing happened with stasis; people began to realize what nasty things they could do with it. What Frost demonstrates here is really good stuff, and people will begin to abuse it. Time has proven that D2 community always chooses the cheesiest builds to compete, even at lower levels.
@@aldorodriguez5705 Even used perfectly it's not broken but yes it is extremely good. Understand though bungie tends to nerf things based how common/broken and easily done said setup is. Strand setups even at the highest of levels, is hard to have consistency, and grapple, compared to most nades, is heavily counterable if used incorrectly. High risk, high reward is fair imo unlike stasis which was low risk/high reward in its old state. Now stasis hunter (shurikan should do 50 each imo, not 35) and warlock are great (behemoth super and game plan needs buffing and so do glacial nade damage, do more damage but not one hit with less radius damage fall off) The usage rate of light subclasses Vs dark is way too high because they are easier to grab kill potential with. You can see it with your own eyes in the crucible that 80% of players play light. What titans do you see mainly, it's void and arc, for example without a doubt. Glacial one hit should not be a thing but it's so weak right now, it's almost never used except to block pathing most of the time, I'd rather use a solar grenade and threaten death or spam firebolts than that. Or I can slap a shield down on titan which can give me overshield, and much harder to break than glacial. Go use behemoth against top light subclasses, see what happens.
