    Im surprised by how many people say this is a useless comparison lol the amount of money could be saved by watching this vidoe is insane. You literally only need a 5800x3d to game at 4K+ with basically the same performance and save your self from buying new ram and mobo. Thats the point those people dont get lol.

      Bought one cheap a couple of weeks ago but haven't rebuilt my machine yet as the RX6800XT I got back in July last year developed a fault. So I now have £500 or so to get a more up to date GPU. Just seen this and I'm amazed at the 5800X3D's power for gaming. Not sure if it makes buying a new GPU easier or harder. At least I know now that pretty much no matter what I get it'll be a bottleneck.

    At this level, all of them are the same due to it being at 4k, if the test was in 1080p or 1440p, the difference would be clearly visible. But at the end the 5800x3d is a crazy budget and intresting option for 4k without bootleneck

    • @damonm3
      @damonm3 Год назад +2

      Well and at high end people are running 4k so this is best. Sure there’s an arguement for 1440p for maybe 20% of top end users but way less than 5% of 4090 users game at 1080p. And those tests are all out there right? This is by far the best test for the vast majority of 4090 applications. And if you’re gaming with some side editing and stuff the 5800x3d is the clear choice from a value perspective if you’re already on am4. I just don’t see why 99% of people would ever get intel. Just logically makes no sense literally for 99% of people. 7950x3d is the clear winner for gamers that do production or work on same rig. Easier to cool, less power, less heat, more efficient etc etc etc. and for less than a 10% drop in best case is for sure ok for almost all. And if you really needed more I think it’s a clear step to go Threadripper. Will be awesome if they do a 9800x3d chiplet on the next gen workstation chips or something similar. High clock mini chip, and then a few big boys.

      Exactly the same thoughts! I was thinking if I should wait for 7800X3D, but my gut feeling was that upgrading from 5600X + 6900XT to 5800X3D + RTX4090 combo was the right move, because I play at 4K DLSS Quality + RT + Frame-Generation and use VRR to hit 60fps-120fps range on a 120hz 4K TV. Many games get optimized better CPU-wise as patches come 2-6 months after launch, and suddenly the 5800X3D is again on par with the 7800X3D or within 5%.
      For that 5%, I'm not willing to go through the trouble of unassembling my custom loop completely, selling an old Mobo / RAM / CPU, and buy new ones and assemble it all back together. Instead, I just sold the 5600X and 6900XT at decent price, just before they started to plummet in February, and got a 5800X3D after the price drop and found preblocked RTX4090 iChill Frostbite from Hong Kong at a very good price. It was an easy install as I just drained the loop, popped in the CPU and GPU, put soft tubes back in and filled, ran 1 hour leak test and monitored temps and the loop while using the computer for 72 hrs.
      5800X3D is a superb CPU, incredibly value for 4K upscaled gamers.

      On a side note: RT is extremely overrated and imo still in its infancy. I’ve seen games where normal rasterization creates virtually identical (if not better) lighting effects at much better performance numbers.

      I play COD at 1440p performance settings and had the 3070 w/ 5600X as well. Got 5800x3d (free) and got about 20fps increase and game felt more consistent. A gpu upgrade like a 7900xt would have way more impact and def get an x3d cpu on sale, not at full price.

    To really test the cpu utilization, the settings need to be turned down to low settings. Otherwise, 4k high settings will just bottleneck ANY gpu...producing similar fps results

    Thank you for making a 4K CPU Benchmark! 👏 🎉
    I would love to see some benchmarks with a 5800X & 5900X (non 3D) and even some 9900K/10900K/11900K at 4K to see how much they can bottleneck a 4090 at Native 4K 🙏
    Most channels seem to only focus on 1080p or 1440p but GPUs are becoming so powerful that most CPUs will bottleneck them even at Native 4K ! At this pace people will need a ZEN 6 CPU not to bottleneck a 5090/Ti 🙄

      It’s not even that. 4k testing is a GPU bottle neck taking load off the CPU. Test this at 1080p when the CPU’s actually have to see a work load and you’ll see the 7800x3d take off

    DDR5 5600MHz 32GB is not recommended for testing with ryzen, the recommended system is ddr5 6400 MHZ, in intel the loss is less to use that ddr5 5600 than 6400, but if it is significant to use ddr5 4800, it is even worse than ddr4 3600. for in fairness should be compared to ddr5 6400.

      This is very true at 4K, but testing a CPU at 4k is like testing a GPU at 720p. That's why the numbers are very similar across the board in this test. The GPU utilization is going to be 100% at 4K pretty much always. 1440p would be a better test considering its the sweet spot between fidelity/resolution and performance, and its becoming the most common resolution used by PC gamers. At 1440p the CPU would be taking more of the load and the numbers would be a more accurate depiction of the CPUs performance.
