I’d say I’d live there until I actually got there and then complain about too cold October-May and then in the summer heat waves complain there’s no darn trees
when i was a kid I used to live in central mexico by the ocean pacific (hot and tropical weather) , i remember i saw a national geographic documentary about the life in the canadian tundra and the north pole as a kid i always wanted to visit there and spend some time in the canadian tundra, for now i'll just watch these videos that reminds me of where i want to go thanks to and greetings for her family and everybody reading this😃
Thanks. Videos like this is interesting, since this is the only way for people, like me, to ever get to see what it's like in certain cities around the world. It's nice that you get to go for a drive like that. One thing I noticed from these videos is that I don't see any traffic lights. Just all stop signs. And as I typed that about the traffic lights, I realized, no sewer system for the streets, either. But, I'm sure they came up with something for the run off when it rains, or snow melts.
I’d love to visit the north for a while. Just chilling in a small arctic village with the northern lights in the sky as you sit with your family by the fire..
Very Cool. Must not have been around lunch. You actually made it quickly through the Four Corners. Pretty cool to see the Hotel Frame Started and the Road Paved by the Ball Field. They were both just Gravel ground work in July. Thanks for the Drive Around.
Thank you. I hope that the college has daycare services so that you can take courses and get out of your apartment. I also did not see a hockey arena or curling rink
There are two arenas in Iqaluit! :) I don’t think the college has daycare but if I wanted to take a course I could definitely find someone to watch Jude! :)
Thank you for this walk, it's been a while since I try to make a decision to come to Nunavut, but after seeing your videos it encouraged me to live this adventure.
how beautiful !! all that vast crisp blue sky, fresh air, snow,no crowds...my kind of place ♥️ really liking your channel, thanks for sharing your life with us.
Ohhhh boy I remember before Arctic Ventures before it got its facelift and before the apartment building that went up across the row from it and White Row. And when the Brown Building was actually brown. It’s like it’s changed so much but hardly changed at all
It is all a matter of perspective, it must really feel like a desert of ice, frost and snow. Or desert land. But in "desolate" nature, sometimes you also find the warmest welcoming people. I don't know if it is the case in Iqaluit, provided that the Inuits population there have been colonized by the Canadians, but it looks nicer than what I thought.
I have applied to the accounting firm Lester Landau, no luck so far , I think they only way I will see the Arctic is to work up there. Widowed now but still okay to dream.
It’s insane to think that in Canada, you have places like Vancouver, a place with palm trees and very mild winters, and then there’s Iqualit. Every single corner of this country is beautiful though.
I mean you can't escape winter in Canada anywhere you go though. The USA is much more diverse in their temperatures. You could pick to live in miami florida or hawaii then on the other hand somewhere like north dakota or even alaska. Extreme winters or extreme heat. But in Canada just more mild winter areas, but never no winter
I am taken very much by the Canadians and the gorgeous people and country they have. Beautiful video, music GREAT! This is where Annabella Piugattuk lives yet...I think, she the absolutely splendid actress in "The Snow Walker." (2003) I watch it every week I think. I cannot believe after her 20 year old, first time acting venture that Hollywood has not has not had Charles Martin Smith find another fine, fine story as the first one. I watched "Never Call Wolf" starring Charles the other night, then HAD TO watch the beautiful, very talented Annabella again. I like watching this stuff about Nunavut and I though Iqalut was small.
Nice tour!! Now that the summer season has arrived, could you do a comparable tour of Iqaluit? The major investment in & completion of the new Iqaluit Airport terminal is a huge indicator of the positive direction of Iqaluit's future. Additional commercial & residential development is undoubtedly already in at least the planning stages. Will be interesting to watch this progress thru your videos.
Yes I will definitely do another one of these videos soon! :) the new airport is great, it’s interesting hearing about all of the changes in Iqaluit from people that have lived here through them, even over the past 10 years.
Thanks for the tour - what is that white dome sort of igloo with the black pointy tower on top, and a little cross at 2:44? Is that a church? Now that I look at it again, I see the caption written right on the frame: St Jude's church. I am observant!
this place needs an annual music festival. featuring Ice T, Ice Cube and for jokes even Vanilla Ice for some old school flavour and Snow for Can Con. Hell maybe even Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys and Snow Patrol too.
@GOD OVER MONEY Shut the fuck up lowlife. You're making a new deal over one word error. I'm sorry that you're not getting enough attention in your life. :(
I'd love to visit for like 5 hours or so but that's it. There's no way I could live so secluded. No disrespect meant, you're a hell of a lot stronger than me. With that being said, great video. Howdy from Southern Illinois.
It takes its toll on you sometimes! There are days I get freaked out thinking how isolated we really are and that we depend on their airplanes to get anywhere! No trees was actually not as bad as I thought. I didn’t think about them at all! Iqaluit has its own beauty :)
Wow I live in a tropical island in the Caribbean, Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 and watching your lovely video I cannot imagine a - 35 in April!! 😱 I would like to know what clothes do you wear in winter with a -60 c ???
I'm really curious to know what their economy up there is based around. Iqaluit looks incredibly prosperous, especially compared to Arctic towns in Alaska like Nome or Utqiagvik which actually have a lot of economic activity based on natural resources like oil and precious metals. Is all of Iqaluit's wealth just based on government money, since Iqaluit is now the administrative center of Nunavut?
Thanks for the tour really want to go see Iqaluit someday. I'd rather just hear real time audio with like a local radio station in the background rather than this music imo. Also hope electric cars are shipped to Iqaluit soon it's the perfect place for them; never drive far, and never need to worry about an engine being too cold to start, and so much cheaper to run with gas prices being so expensive up there.
azera55555 thanks for your comment! Unfortunately I can’t play music on the radio in the background as those songs are copyrighted! The alternative would be like the sounds of us bumping along! 😛
What they don’t tell you as they wax poetic about these arctic towns is the incredible high crime rate, the assault rate, the murder rate, and the widespread abuse of alcohol. These are NOT happy areas in the beautiful snowscape. In reality they are hellholes. Very cold hellholes.
If you are calling this “hellholes” try to visit russian northern lands. No roads, devastated infrastructure + enormous corruption in all law enforcement departments...
Кай Без Герды Sounds terrible. Plus it’s far colder in Siberia then in Alaska or the Northwest Territories of Canada. Why would anyone live in Siberia? There are options in western Russia that are not nearly as bad.
I never realized how cute Nunavut was until seeing your videos!

I like how they paint the buildings in bright colors. Scandinavia also. Break the monotony. Even though it's beautiful.
I understand why they do that in cold, bleak environments but I wish they'd do it elsewhere as well.
Holyyy Toronto is a different world compared to this
As a Torontonian myself, it is way different driving up here than down south!
Iqualuit is a shithole in the middle of nowhere..... Toronto is just a bigger shithole!

Olivia Irwin I lived in Iqaluit for 12 years, from when I was born in ‘92 until 2004. Managed to get back up to visit in 08 and again in 2016!
Very cool! I’m a 92 baby too!
Awesome! God bless Nunavut. Nice! Love those baby mittens.
I think for me personally, why NU has never been inviting to me is the total absence of trees and bushes. Feels so desolate without them.
