I too like Bowers at 10. He could operate mostly out of the slot and become coverage nightmare.Then i would take in 3rd round that highly regarded Yale LT and in the 4th someone like Mahogany kid from BC at G to bolster the OL. You can also add Baktiari in this scenario too.
If the Jets had a healthy O-Line with depth, the Bowers pick at 10 would make sense. But the biggest needs on this team are O-Line insurance, and WR. Conklin and Ruckert are solid at TE already.
Think about how all the teams with great TEs (Chiefs, Lions, Niners, etc.) have done. Getting Bowers is a no-brainer. Having Conklin should not be an issue. That means the Jets can run double TE sets.
Bowers jerseys will fly off the shelf if we draft this kid. I remember how popular Shockey was as a Giant and I’m confident Bowers will be even more of a game breaker. Give me all the weapons.
I dont know if the Bears will go defense at 9 because I think they will be trying to show Caleb Williams that they are 100% committed to giving him all the weapons he needs to win. They are probably concerned with his desire to play for them and drafting defense over a top WR would be a poor way to start their professional relationship IMO
Top 10 pick will net a guaranteed salary of $21m for 4 years. I think Jets will look into someone who can help right away and into the starting lineup given the HC and GM are playing for their jobs. My biggest fear in all of this is if they decide to pick a defensive player as they will most likely get their top choice with almost all the 9 picks before them going offense.
