    I can recall this composer's piece, as l used to practice it constantly for my music grades. In fact, l was first introduced to Tarrega at grade 2 years ago!

    Nail shape........if you go to the bottom of the video description (above) there is a link for my FB band page. I just put a picture of my RH so you can know how i shape my nails. today the middle and ring fingers have acrylic nails. the others are natural. Have fun!

    Your version is my all-time favorite! You play with such passion. And it makes one wonder what story is going on in your head while you are playing....to give rise to that passion :P I always tend to hear a ''story'' in music.

    I showed my girlfriend the RUclips video of your “Segovia incident”. She’s very intuitive and said she thought he felt threatened because you may have played it better. Whether she’s right or wrong either way your a true master, an inspiration and my favorite guitar player. Rock on Michael!

    I have heard this played many times over many years - including in Benicassim repeatedly by many fine guitarists - your playing of this piece truly captures the 'Caprichio' that escapes so many. Excellent playing and a beautiful recorded tone too.

    Yes, I've heard this piece just a few times, but the clarity of Mike's notes and the smooth, tasteful interpretation amazes me. This is exactly what I like about classical guitar. And such a beautiful sound. The way the faster notes are played (eg at 2:03 - 2:09) cannot be played any better - and I doubt I could prefer any player on this. 10/10 from me.

    Very nice! I really like your phrasing on the "difficult" Fmaj section and I will try out some of your fingerings. I enjoyed both your versions (steel and nylon). In fact it is quite interesting to make the comparison with the same player on two different instruments, so we can really hear the differences that are due to the instrument. To my ear, I prefer the nylon string sound on this piece, especially when the melody is in the upper register. Also I think that the slurs sound better on nylon. Having said that I like the steel string version as well.

    Well...I came here because of the famous Segovia trainwreck video. I didn't know who you were at all but I did like your playing in that video. I clicked on this because I've seen a LOT of folks do this and in my opinion, many of them just don't play it as musically as I'd like...you did. You didn't treat it as a gymnastic competition...you played it like it was music.
    Very nice. You are quoted in an interview about how you like to hear less "perfection-without-musicality" when you hear a piece played; I think you've accomplished that here. This was very enjoyable.

    Beautiful performance, wonderful recording, and excellent sounding guitar! I love the little hint of Los Indios Tabajaras styled vibrato, which really accentuates the emotions of the piece, IMHO. Inspiring!

      @SciFiArtman 7 лет назад

      Yes, maybe a little overboard with the vibrato, and they could get a little sloppy, but I loved their emotional performances. IMO, they really made a significant step forward for the popularity of Spanish style guitar in their day, even though I doubt many remember them by name. Love their version of Maria Elena!
      But your playing is wonderful. And I appreciate your reply bringing me back for another listen! All the best to you, and your inspiring playing!

    I think the best lessons are the lessons you find online as you can watch them and learn whenever you feel like it instead of having to attend a lesson at a certain time. I would suggest searching for lessons on youtube for a beginner guitarist. I've heard that Guitar for Dummies is quite good and I think the full dvd is on youtube.
    Finger nails on a classical guitarist are generally shaped in a ramp like shape on your picking hand. You can find more info on fingershapes on google

    I like to play the guitar and I understand a lot about technique. What I love about this video is that it shows how comfortable Michael is with the song. Evident by the fact that his eyes are closed most of the time, which allows him (because he already knows all the notes) to focus on sound. The pluck, the vibrato, the finger noise, sustain, timing. That’s what guitar players are made of. Great song and one of the best interpretations. Parkening is a douche. I believe young man that as you age you are surpassing Segovia. Yes he is Segovia but he stopped progressing. Great teacher was he. He got stuck back in the 1940s. Almost 8,000,000,000 people in the world and everyone wants to say Segovia was the best? I think that’s a matter of opinion. In the 1980s Michael really looked like Chachi. Segovia never looked like Chachi.

    On this 'classic' version your fantastic performance skills are even more obvious. Personally i admire the clashing with the style using a steelstring. Music is freedom, also classic tunes should not be static.
