Isn't the reason the fitment in the tunnel was bad because you were installing a manual in the auto tunnel? It's my understanding that regardless of market, going from auto to manual transmission requires hammering the transmission tunnel. I have a RHD 5 spd manual and I only had to do minor massaging for the lockout.
I actually installed this kit in my Mk3 Supra swapped 2jzgte, yes sir I also had to modify my transmission tunnel but no cutting. I'm using a Wildwood clutch master cylinder with a twin plate 1000hp/1000ft lb clutch and it feels stock so I'd have to say that your customer's car needs that to be changed out. Now I have spoken with a company here that builds these transmission for more power and also sequential set-ups. Tick Performance here in the States and they recommend Dex 3 even after the break in. The guy I spoke with said it works best with the internal pads/ material of this transmission. They have seen some come back with less than a thousand miles for rebuilds. I'm going to stick with what this shop says... Dex 3. I'm also thinking maybe by this car being an automatic you have to do more modifying possibly! Not sure just a thought 🤔. Anyway great install video.👍🏁🏁🏁👌👆💯🌟
How well were the gear ratios suited to the diff? (Did it still have the auto diff in place) P.s I still need to get a move on and film my r154 review - some good points highlighted in this video which makes me glad with the choice I went for. Thanks for the advice 👍🏽
The gear ratio was good with the 3.7 and t56 but the R154 is a better stock driving Experience. The T56 shift is very short and felt lovely but noisy box and heavy clutch peddle.
Thanks for uploading this video and your review. I am also in the process of going t56 from an auto supra real soon...Did Grannas reach out to you about your issues? will he make any adjustments to any customer who will go from auto to manual for rhd supras?
Speaking to afew other guy's that have done the conversion. Some had issues same as me and some didnt. I would say the bell housing casting might be off from time to time with core shift. They were good and said to massage the tunnel if need be as its close on some areas. The box feels amazing the kit was good the clutch master we changed to a wilwood 0.70 and it felt better. I wouldn't use the tilton clutch if i done another one. Maybe a OS giken would be better in my opinion. Ash
I installed same kit last year to my RHD Supra. It was originally W58 car, the only modification I had to do for the tunnel was more room for the reverse lockout solenoid and that's all. Only things I have broken so far is 2 units of 3/4" Wilwood master cylinders, now switched to 13/16" Tilton with grannas's own res and it feels so much better with the Tilton ST246 clutch. Overall the gearbox feels amazing to drive but it is rather noisy during engine brake. Redline oil.
Its great seeing all the Comments and people's Experiences. Were definitely get the box driving better with some tweaking. And nice to see other people's thoughts 👍
It’s strange that I have a 1995 rhd jdm one and the clearance looks slightly better than in this video. Thanks for your honest review though, interesting comparison to some videos saying that tilton clutch drive like stock. 😅
Its the master cylinder causing the issue. We will have to change it at some point. Clutch felt good no judder just super heavy. Ill report back when i swap the master. No idea why the space was so tight on this vehicle.
Interesting to see your take on the kit. I installed mine on axle stands on my drive and while it was PITA, getting gearboxes on and off layed on your back is a PITA anyway tbh lol. What's really odd is I didn't have to modify the trans tunnel on my UK car, but you can clearly see the lack of room in your video. It's tight against the passenger side, but not touching. When I installed the kit, GR originally supplied a smaller wilwood slave and the peddle pressure really wasn't an issue. The only complaint I had with the smaller slave was the clutch would disengage a nice inch and a half off the carpet, but then it wouldn't properly bite until quite high up. Joel happily swapped out the wilwood slave for the large bore Tilton. I haven't had a chance to test yet, but once the single build is done I'm looking forward to giving it a try. Having ran dextron 3 and the 75w, the dextron 3 is quite a bit louder, but once I knew nothing was broken, it doesn't bother really. That gear change and the box strength is worth the offset, IMO.
It was sitting hard up on the tunnel in this car. Will have to check if UK and inport have slightly different Tunnel arrangement. Checked both engine mounts and location and all was fine. This one had a 20.6mm bore clutch slave and it feels way to big for the twin plate tilton clutch. 15/16mm would probably sort the issue out and will luckily be done when it comes back for the oil change. Felt amazing to shift just heavy peddel and noise was the drawback at the moment. Im sure when we change the slave and put the different oil in it may transform it to a more user friendly box. Ash

Let me know if you play around with the master. The grannas kit come with 13/16th (.081) bore. It is quite heavy but my softened up.

Nice video. You’d think after all this time of doing the installs GR would have sorted that stiff peddle.
I was hopeing the same thing. But its definitely no the correct ratio on the clutch master to slave.
And it doesnt really fit a RHD car out the box.

@@srdtuning331 I'll definitely be interested in your 15/16mm results if I have the same issue re peddle pressure. 👍
