  • I had some broken Craftsman tools. They are still in business so I called and boom. Got some new products.

I worked for Sears for a short time back in the early 90s in the hardware dept. We would have people coming in all day with broken tools to get replaced. When it came to ratchets we would usually rebuild them. Generally it was the ratchet mechanism that broke but the handle was still fine so we had kits that allowed us to just swap out the guts. Every once and a while we'd get some asshole (male Karen) that wasn't satisfied with having their ratchet rebuilt and insisted we replace the whole thing. Doing that was above my pay grade so we had to get a manager involved to give permission to replace the whole thing.
Craftsman hand tools are made by Stanley/Black & Decker and have been forever. They used to proudly advertise that they were made in USA but now they are all China Pride. They ended up buying the Craftsman name for hand tools from Sears since they made them.

@@tallboyyyy good to know, I never had to replace a tool b4 other than when harbor freight was invented. All my dads tools haven't broke and are still used today. Such a sad state the quality of crap these days.
