  • In this video I am testing out a DC House Lithium Battery. This is the most affordable battery that I could find that had 200-amp hours, a 200A BMS, and Cold Weather Protection. In this video I also install a Renogy Pure Sine Wave Inverter with Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS). The following are affiliate links for products used in this video. These low cost high frequency inverters offer shorter life expectancies, poorer surge capacities, and their not very safe for powering AC appliances. Because they don't offer any galvanic isolation between their DC boost stage and their AC output, they can even set your AC appliances on fire during a catastrophic failure of their H-Bridge circuit. That's why they're known as a poor man's inverter. A much better and safer choice is to use an low frequency, transformer based inverter.

Thanks for the input. I'm definitely fine with the poor man's solution. I'm looking at 20ish days a year with this one to run the TV and recharge my laptop. But I have seen these Renogy inverters go for many years with year-round RV'ers without problems. Do you have a reasonably priced alternative that you recommend?
