@@19Cluj I thought that was a joke as well as your comment…. But decided to look it up as it just couldn’t be true….. The fact it is true is unbelievable, that someone would pay the amount they are asking for a bit of plastic shows how insane some of this all is. Total shake down.
The fact that you went to these great lengths to "confuse" the fog is admirable! When I had a case of renter's fog I used special Audioquest fog lights to disperse the fog during evening listening sessions. But alas, they discontinued those a few years back.
I personally prefer the fog. It brings that feeling of live music and being there in the venue. When the lighting is right and it hits the fog it's just beautiful
John, you should try some crystals to fix that terrible fog. Amethyst and Black Tourmaline with Lemurian Quartz connectors should lift the fog and bring more focus and detail. Your soundstage will be bigger and more defined. They are easy to find at most online retailers for only a few dollars. Hopefully your fog will be gone in a day or so. Happy April 1st !!!!
For those of us who vape, the problem is real. The solution is a heavy-duty air purifier and clinell wipes. That VG drips off the windows if you don't get it under control.
I used to live on top of a mountain, I had a similar problem with clouds. Honestly, some Kate Bush played at 80db+ usually solved it, but these look like a decent option.
Have you tried shampooing your power source? Too much emphasis is placed on power conditioners and I hardly hear anyone talking about power shampooers. This solved 99% of my acoustic issues.
I have the same when lighting my wood stove. The wood particles rest on my speakers and cables. They resonante to the high frequencies that traverse along the surface of the speaker cable. Obviously this adds and dertacts to the frequency response. Before I listen to music. I pull out the Audio Hoover, specifically designed to filter out the micro audio particles-[MAP] from the suface of the cables. It works and I just suck up the benefits.😂😂😂
First, I was thinking that in the 40 years, living in Germany I’ve never heard or experienced anything about this phenomenon. Then I remembered the date…
An instant classic, John. I nearly spit my tea into my keyboard! I can confirm my brain fog is more parasitic and pernicious when I am flat on the floor. By contrast, my inky-black backgrounds are generally more resolved when I am on the floor, though I tend to have no frequency response. Anecdotally, the 40 Hz bump evaporates when I’m not on the floor (in front of the subwoofer) and the tangerine crispness of the KEF LS 50’s is far more tangible.
All April Fool's aside, in nightclubs the "smoke machine" fog mixes with all the dust and humidity to cover everything with a sort of moss. It definitely affects sound on horn based systems like Funktion One.
Did you know your plants send out RFI distortion when they are not happy. That will have an effect on your audio signal quality. So take good care of you plants. There is one good way to treat them. Plants like the Red Hot Chilli Peppers because they feel related to them. If you play the RHCP for an hour and a half (NO LESS) at at least 85Db, this will tip them into a state of harmony for 24 hours. They will be happy and produce harmonic RFI that will indeed enforce the coherence of your audio signals. A Peppers a day will keep the distortion away. Don't forget, because they will eagerly await your playing their buddies and get very cross when you don't. This can ultimately harm your equipment. If you do forget you MUST play the peppers for at least an hour longer to appease them again.
Took me a couple of minutes and some head scratching to put 2 and 2 (or the 1st and the 4th month together.) That video is as smooth as a condensed milk sandwich! 😂
Wow! A night and day difference with and without the fog. Those measurements prove that shaking the cable first & elevating it blows the previous arrangement out of the water
Couple of minutes in before I realised what day it is. Now I'm wondering what those cable stand things are? They look like an actual product wtf?? Are they for a different purpose, or do people lift there cables off the ground. Guess I'm going to have to watch the rest of the video to find out.
This is similar to something we have here with our cable tv. If we leave for an long time, when we return the HD signal coming from our television provider starts to make all our favorite programs look like they were shot through a glass of milk. When this happens, we let the provider know and typically they'll have us place trash bags over all the end-points. (tv, router, etc.) then they'll blow out the line forcing any built up debris into the trash bags. We discard the bags and life is good again. Cheers.
An easy, inexpensive way to lift cables is to use a foam pool noodle. Cut the noodle into "donuts", thread the wire through, cut plugs from the unused section of pool noodle to brace the cable inside the "donut hole". In the US, a pool noodle costs about $1.00 and you will probably only need one.
You had me going for a good few minutes. Then I thought what day is it. Very funny - straight faced except for a small smirk at the end. Would be funny to see the outtakes.
Like hell I would lift sections of cable just for "sound quality". All it would do is create natural perching positions for John's number one fan, Cücük the budgie, consequently piles of poop underneath.
You are lucky that this only happens when you are away for a longer time. We have this every spring (in early April) when the radiators switch from winter mode to spring mode, even when we are at home! Luckily my speaker cables are not on the floor, but I still have to find a good solution for headphones. Audioquest should sell some kind of bungee for headphone cables. And can you do any measurements to see if open-back headphones are more affected by this than closed-back headphones, because the fog can get into them more easily?
Yes I aslo suffer from a similar thing called "audio vale" this happens when my speaker cables are left on the floor but when I lift them off the floor with small pieces of wood its like my Nans net curtains being lifted from in front of the speakers simply amazing, great video.
Try using a fan (oscillating not needed) and if that doesn't clear things up, open a window but do it very slowly, perhaps over the course of a few days if you have the time.
I'm not a renter or a German, but I have experienced renter's fog after burning some toast in my toaster and noticed that the hi-fi acoustics was greatly reduced. I should get some of these for the next time my toaster malfunctions.
In California especially in the San Francisco area it is not just renters but owners that are impacted by the dense fog in the area. But what really helps is making a good cup of San Francisco Bay Fog Chaser coffee while you listen to your audiophile grade system. Doesn't work well with cheap strereophile systems though.
loved it - was prepared to tell you that your mind was doing tricks on you and you wouldn’t hear a thing using or not using the fog lifter in a proper blind test - because I had wrongly assumed you would tell us you did hear an improvement…
OMG you had me there for a minute. As soon as the images for the fog lifters showed up I though "oh boy.... here we go.. I hope he is going to debunk these things." you had me going for a while until I realized what day it was... Good work. Thanks for lightening (unfogging?) my day!
Yeah, you got me, took me a while. However, half way through my morning coffee and having previously lived in Berlin without fog issues. I woke up, the power of caffeine.
What’s funny about this video is some of the hi-fi maker claims are so insane that it makes this almost believable.
i was thinking the same thing
And also the Audioquest fog lifters are a real product. And that’s not a joke.
If a lie is spoken again n again, it turns into truth !
@@19Cluj I thought that was a joke as well as your comment…. But decided to look it up as it just couldn’t be true…..

Can't believe you could keep a straight face explaining all this. Well played.
The audiophile world and April fools has so much in common - it’s a perfect fit.
I must admit it took me whole 3 minutes to figure this video out. April 1th
Me too… presumably my American ignorance to apartment dwelling :)

one of the best April 1st Videos for EVER // Congrats Sammy
April fools! 😂
Is it April fools day already John?
I personally prefer the fog. It brings that feeling of live music and being there in the venue. When the lighting is right and it hits the fog it's just beautiful
I'm so embarrassed that it took me around 6 minutes in until I realised what was going on...😂
I was 5 minutes in before I realised it was April 1st

‘Treble as sweet as a condensed milk sandwich’ Classic! 😂

Happy April 1, Mr D. Nicely done mate‼️
Shaking the cables made such a difference - you've changed my audiophile life!
“Treble as sweet as condensed milk sandwiches.” Priceless. Happy April 1st.
Brilliant, I was 3 minutes in before I remembered what day it was. Well played 👍
Shake your cable violent to get it out 😂😂😂
You got me for 4 minutes)))

I just can't understand how you can keep a straight face without breaking into raputures 😂😂😂
The lifters confused the fog and had to shake the cables violently are my favorites

The plants 🌱 last year, fog lifters this year 💨 Things just get better and better. Can’t wait for 04/2024 to roll round 😅 (I’m in stitches!)
I've been shaking my speaker cables violently for an hour but I think the fog is still there. 😂
Have you tried shampooing your power source? Too much emphasis is placed on power conditioners and I hardly hear anyone talking about power shampooers. This solved 99% of my acoustic issues.

This well know phenomena is even worse in Italy. Sometimes the fog is so bad you can’t even see the spaghetti trees outside your window.

I'm so glad I own my own home. 'Owners Purple Haze' makes everything sound better.
He had measurements so it had to be real. Just saying.

Well done! Brilliant and fun! Now we need Audioquest Audiophile Ear Wax Lifters.

Bloody hell......I got to about 4 minutes, before I clocked the date. Very well done 😉
I laughed so hard as soon as you mentioned, the fog getting into the cables. You really had me going up until that point. Really good.!!!
I could hear the difference through my laptop speakers. You might want to get an encabulator or interocitor, they'll take care of it for you.

Great video, April Fools is in full effect!. This is the best one I've seen.
Funny thing is that audiofools would probably believe in that if it wasn't the 1st of April 🤣
For the first 5 minutes I was thinking you had legitimately lost your mind. Then I remembered the day.

I’ve been waiting for this! Yours are always so good.
Excellent video. The sad part is that some fools actually pay over $100 for products like this 364 other days.
Renter’s fog is always worse on 1st April, it precedes the showers…
Is this an April 1st thingy ? :D , 10/10 for this!!!

It can be a real issue, in Scotland it’s usually referred as mist.
Mizzle?
Scotch
Well done JD I listened to this on Sunday but appreciated the effort to craft a great April first segment. Very funny. Great work.

I watched this just before midday on April 1st and you had me for the first two minutes. Well done.
Haha, great video! How you are able to keep a straight face is remarkable 😂 The date is a giveaway 👍🏻

Laughing out loud. Good one John. Nice April fools prank......
Every year on this day, you never disappoint. Nice one John 😂😂👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Are there also fog lifters for my wireless connection?
of course, You can put Your WIFI- cable on it 🙂
'..Condensed milk sandwich..' This is probably the best made April fools video I've seen.
Do they make a version of the product for London fog?
"If I owned this appartment, I wouldn't get renter's fog, right ?"
- " No no !"
Wonderfull !😄
Is there an upgraded version on the lifters with fog lights.
I actually fell for this! 🤦♂️Nice one John. Happy April Fools day!!!
April, April. Good one.
Thank you! I look forward to this every year now :-)
You gotta be joking, 1st of April.

Up until 3:19 you had me 😛
Love it! Well done John!
veery convincing :)
the world needs a capable cable shaker!
Loved it John!
Will those work in Denmark? Asking for a friend.
Yes, they work here in Denmark. I tried them .
I didn’t realize that April Fools day also existed in Germany.
Yes, happy 4/1😅
Good one! Thanks for sharing this vital and important information.

"And the Golden Globe goes to... John Darko for Renter's Fog!" 😂😂😂
😂 😂 😂 You had me for the first couple of minutes John with your dry Darko humour 😂 😂
