As far as I know the technical set-up at the pre-parties (especially Madrid and Barcelona) is an issue. The pre-party in London typically gives a first indication of the quality of a singer, but you always have to wait for the rehearsals at the contest. Kaleen definitely is no Conchita, but for this type of music the full package (voice, dance, presence) counts and that seems to fit well with the song.
It sounds like she brought the second verse down an octave so she wasn't going in and out of key. And maybe they turned up her mic more than the other preparties but yeah just small changes to what she already had
