Another great trip report/vlog JW! I love those soup dumplings in HKG. You can get them in Sydney, but nowhere near as good as HKG! I see how bags get damaged, he was throwing the bags on to the conveyor belt! HK express looked ok, reminds me of Jetstar! Love Japan, the train system there is 1st class, love how passengers politely queue for the train, Sydney, good luck! Your friend is hot, he needs a fan 🤣 You're brining back so many fond memories of Kyoto! Well done buddy!
Wow, very detailed. Sorry to hear about your two-hour immigration pain. I always try to stick to overnight flights between SIN and HND whenever possible, as with an early morning arrival (specifically betweeb 05:00 and 07:00), I can get more rest and things done post-arrival. Especially on solo travels, I prefer to come in via HND as it's closer to downtown Tokyo and Yokohama, while my family prefers NRT for the convenience of getting a large-sized family rental car.
Great video! The editing and climbout footage are awesome. I prefer the new HK Express livery too. Nice blue shorts! Are they new? Those baggage handlers were a bit rough with the luggage. I love how orderly the passengers queue for a train or the metro metro. The Shinkansen is always impressive. It’s interesting to see the air purifiers in the hotel room. Seems like (it's still) a common practice in Japan.
Very very shorts actually! Found it as I was unpacking my boxes in HK 🤣 Yep glad you pointed it out, the handlers were rough indeed! I'm very sensitive to dust so I appreciate air purifiers!!

Instead of the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto you could have done HKG🇭🇰-KIX (大阪関西国際空港🇯🇵) My mum went to Kyoto in March 2023 on 菲律賓航空. 12:38 I wonder if you can also get them on CX(国泰航空)

I believe that you have to pay at the gate if they intercept your bag (oversized carry-on bag)? How do they check bag size? Is this done at the check-in area? Are they strict with the rule that items purchased at the airport (airside) count toward your carry-on allowance? Thanks!
HKEX is a much bigger airline, so probably more reliable. They have more flights than Cathay to Haneda for example. I personally found GBA 737 more comfortable, and has more inclusions.
