If I sat in a room for a reality TV show and tried to come up ideas for a show, I couldn't come up the messes that call into this and other shows. Just epic levels of ignorance.
So they’re paying rent to live in a house they are on the mortgage for, but don’t own, to a landlord that is not paying them child support.

I know a guy who told me he let his ex-wife stay in their house and he’d pay the mortgage instead of paying child support. He now lives with and takes care of his mom.

I remember I told my ex wife I was taking her to court for back child support then found out she left the country and it’s nothing the courts can do.. boy did she get off Scott free.. hopefully this won’t be the case with this guy
You can still file something with the court for the possibility of arresting her at the airport or border if she ever returns. They do that to men who don't pay child support and leave the country, so they should be able to arrest women too.

I'm not sure how one takes out a mortgage and lives in a house you don't own.
Wow, she's dumb... left herself on the hook for mortgage payments, but no legal claim to the equity??? She basically turned her mortgage payments into rental payments and gave away tens of thousands of dollars
I wouldn't pay "rent". I would hoard money, until we get legally evicted.

If the judge ordered her to pay the mortgage. Then the ex does not have to sell the house, or give her half of the profit from selling the house.

Honestly, it sounds like the wife is hiding something. I think this was the terms of the divorce settlement, and him promising half the equity was just to blow smoke up her butt because she was in denial about "losing" the battle. She probably got caught cheating or something and the judge offered her a convenient option to stay in the house and just pay "rent"
You could leave the State and force the issue into Federal court.

Make them get an attorney and pay the back child support if he can get it reduced for a lump sum or not at all.
