So typically the fire alarm is wired to power and that’s what’s making it beep, telling you to change the battery, because if a fire starts from an electrical source it could make the alarms loose power and you won’t have a battery for it to run on.

Best to replace them every 5 years or even sooner. Rather safer than sorry
Most fire alarm beep after 6 months to be tested and if it still beeping after you test and change battery then it it's time to replace it stay safe 🙏
