  • “Hello, my name is Pearl Campbell and I'm the director of StemCore Laboratories at
    the Ottawa Hospital.
StemCore is the genomics core facility of the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute
    and the University of Ottawa.
I would like to begin by extending my heartfelt congratulations to CFI on the 10th anniversary
    of the Facilities Navigator.
StemCore was invited to join the Navigator when it was first launched in 2013.
Over the years, my lab has received CFI funding to acquire genomics instrumentation
to support several large-scale high throughput genomics projects such as the Stem Cell Genomics Project and the International Regulome Consortium.
Our area of expertise has primarily been the analysis of gene expression and epigenetic regulation in various stem cell populations, although the projects we support have much broader reach, ranging from basic discovery to translational research.
Throughout the past ten years, the field of genomics has experienced a vast acceleration in the release of new technologies and applications from SAGE libraries and microarrays to next generation
    sequencing of bulk samples.
It is now possible to explore gene expression and epigenetic regulation at single cell
    spatially resolved resolution.
Though exciting, the rapid pace of innovation creates a burden for genomics
core facilities to remain au courant.
Currently, CFI is the only granting vehicle that allows genomic core facilities to keep pace with the innovative technologies that are emerging.
And the CFI Navigator has become an important resource to catalogue the technologies available and to facilitate pan-Canadian collaborations using them.
    Congratulations and thank you, CFI.”
