As fellow cyclists we are really enjoying your cross country trip! Funny thing is we are halfway through your trip and realized we had not watched the beginning. To our surprises we saw one of our regular rides! Hello from Hood River, OR. :) Snowing as we watch and 20 degrees, dreaming about warm weather and rides! Thanks again! 1/18/24
@@TheBicycleTourists The trail is going to get a new section completed just west of Hood River this year with a new tunnel. It's going to be great! Then only one small section left to complete and it will be done.
@@TheBicycleTourists Well, if ever you guys find yourselves on an airplane to Cape Town Internation, we'll be ready and waiting as a warmshowers host to take you on a tour through our beautiful wine lands that you won't ever forget!! 💚🌈🍷👌
I just saw that you had a prologue to your trip, of course you did...everything is first class...except the seats 😁I loved you taking off from the ocean after spending some time on the trip with your daughter. Wonderful
Great intro. I saw several episodes before I found this, and really appreciate this. I noticed the stick shift. I did a solo tour from New Orleans to Key West - before the internet. Paper maps! Much flatter than your route.
Thank you for sharing you trip...I'm preparing a similar x-country trek. Can you share your equipment list and route map? Looking forward to your upcoming postings.
Hi Porter, thanks! I'm glad you're watching. I plan on doing an equipment video and route planning video at some point in the future, until then all my time is spent editing these!
My husband and I have enjoyed watching your series! We are in our 50s and ride all types of bikes. We even have a road tandem and a mountain tandem. I am in the market for new gear this year and wondered what Pearl Izumi shorts Julianna recommends?
So glad you're enjoying these! Whenever Julianna starts a trip she gets a new pair of shorts for the trip. She likes Pearl Izumi because they don't compact down like others do. She likes mid-thigh length.
Just found your series and looking forward to watching your journey across the country. Can you give me some dates; what day and month did you start and finish; was there a long gap in the middle? Thx. Good looking stuff.
Not to give anything away since you're going to watch it, but there was a gap in the middle. We started probably second week of July 2021 and finished on Halloween. We might win the prize for slowest crossing, but in all honesty, we absolutely love the slower pace. Hope you enjoy!
Thanks for the compliment! 2 week trip? In the world? Maybe I'd ride down the Rhine. In the US, I'd probably go back with Julianna to ride the GAP/C&O Canal in Pennsylvania and Maryland. Of the trips we've taken together, probably the upper Danube in Germany.
I found your channel and have subscribed and look forward to watching this adventure. It looks extremely exciting. I am in the market for a new bicycle myself to ride longer distances. If I may ask, what bikes are you both riding?
Thank you Alan! Julianna's is one that she bought in France - a "Grande Globe-Trotteuse Classique". Mine is one I bought from REI at least 8 years ago called a Novara Safari. No longer available I'm afraid. If I was buying new I'd start looking at Surly Disc Trucker or Kona Sutra, something like that.
@@TheBicycleTourists thank you. I’m familiar with both of those and will look into them. I look forward to watching the continuing episodes of your adventure. It was great seeing your daughter joining you. My adult daughter and I are close as well.
Truly enjoyed your videos of your trip across America. I am half way through the series.
I'm so glad you're enjoying! I feel like crossing this continent is truly the journey of a lifetime. Nothing quite like it.

Oh yeah, the Columbia River Gorge Trail. Lovely little trail, I hope they complete that someday! Thanks for watching, and for your kind words.

that's great to hear!
Oh man, what fun times these were! I'm sure all the fans will miss your comedic third-wheel sidekick in your future videos.
People are definitely complaining. I guess we'll just have to bring you along next time!
Thank you sooooo much for recording all this. It is Ammmmazin! ❤🇺🇸
You are so welcome! And thank you!
Beautifully narrated, a soothing flow of colors, open roads, and grazing animals.
Kindest regards

That's a worthy invitation! Hopefully we can take you up on that some day.
Great intro to a fabulous journey. I missed this and viewed it after 12.
Thanks! Someday I'd like to ride the full Columbia River Gorge Trail, maybe as part of another cross-country trip.

It was so cool of Bailey to drive my car back to Colorado for me, and see us off. Amazing kid, that one.
I’m envious!!!!!!
You know, as I sit at home and edit these videos, with the cold Colorado March just out the window, I'm envious too! Can't wait to get back out there!
Just subscribed! Looking forward to watching more of your journey!
Thanks! That made my day!

So, so beautiful and Soo fun to watch.
Thanks Gary!
Good to see you both back on the bikes :)
Ha! Actually this was from last summer, and as we're in a frigid Colorado winter, we're dying to get back on the bikes again! Thanks for watching!

We’ve been to Port Townsend a million times and to Fort Warden where they filmed An Officer and a Gentleman
I didn't know that! Port Townsend is a great spot!
Wonderful videos and thank you. If you had 2 weeks to do one trip, where would you go?

Right back atcha.
Well that never happened.

Really captures the excitement of starting a new adventure. Nicely done with beautiful videography and narration.
Well, thank you! It felt like it needed an introduction.
