There's no point in getting angry with Solskjær - The problems at United run a lot deeper than him. He addressed some of those problems, giving us back some of our identity and forging some sort of team spirit but his tactical naivety and his limitations as a man manager have been obvious from the outset. You can't expect him to resign and give up millions in doing so and the truth is he should never have been given a long term contract in the first place. The game has become increasingly tactical in the Premier League era and any club expecting to be successful has to have a proven, experienced manager with tactical nouse and the ability to work with the ego of modern footballers. Why did anyone ever think that Solskjær stood a chance of being able to do this job in the long term. It was kind of like saying that a football manager doesn't need experience and developed skills to manage a big club - that a reputation as a great, likeable player is enough. That was enough to give the players back a bit of pride in playing for the club but in the long term it will always be ruthlessly exposed. Look at Lampard with Chelsea. Anyway, being angry with Solskjær is misdirected. He's trying his best but he just isn't that great as a football manager. He might become better in time but he's inexperienced and unproven and United need a manager who is neiver of those things. We need to stop looking to the past. We need different owners and a change of management structure and staff if we're going to look towards the future.
