You should note that a bird biting is never the birds fault, it is almost always your fault, whether you pet a spot they didn’t want, they were hormonal and didn’t want you there, never get mad at your bird even when it’s frustrating, and yelling at the bird when they bite does not help and will make them continue to bite, try blowing on them or slightly shaking what they are on so they get disrupted or distracted from being angry
Hello. We adopted a lost lovebird about 3 weeks go, she seems to be female and still has a small black splotching on her beak, so we assume it's less than one year old. We assumed she was hand-raised as she wants to sit only on us and makes it very clear she wants outside when she is in the cage. At the beginning she was very loving with me and completely ignoring my partner, but we had some people over and decided to put her on a different room to avoid her stressing out because of the noise, but regularly went to check on her and spend few minutes there, afterwards she seemed very angry for few days especially with my partner. Now she seems to love him and she is very aggressive with me. Her cage is pretty big and we let her outside 3-4h in the morning and 3-4 in the evening. 90% of the time she spends outside is sitting on us, mostly kissing and cuddling with him and playing with me just before biting me for no reason after she came to me for pets. She is not aggressive all the time, but after playing for a bit she literally bites out of nowhere, I am not even trying to touch her when she suddenly bites very hard. If I leave the room even for few seconds she start making a lot of noise like calling for me until I return and then she comes back to being aggressive out of nowhere. I tried putting her in the cage after biting, ignoring her, talking more calmly to her, even showing her that it hurts, but no results, I am a bit desperate as this point. Ah and she ignores all the toys, she has plenty of things to destroy everyday, but apparently hurting me it's way more fun. Please help me try to understand what is happening to this cute little bird 😞
my lovebird, artemis, has been with me for about a year now, but she has always been aggressive towards me even though i do really nothing to hurt or disturb her my aunt lied to me and convinced me to clip her wings back in 2020 (at the time i didnt know how harmful clipping wings were because i didnt know it even existed,) and her past owner, which we bought her from, had put her in a sadly tiny cage along with her supposed sibling (which had sadly passed in 2021.) one thing i remember the old owner doing while he was giving us Artemis and her sibling, he had gripped onto her tightly with a towel and said to us “she bites hard, so i dont wanna risk it.” before shoving her into our travelling cage and resulting in her hissing at him with fear. but now she has sorta calmed down with her aggression, and i think she feels safe whenever im a suitable distance away from her. but she still has very territorial instincts, where she will become aggressive whenever i try taking her food bowl out to feed her. i think her aggression is caused by a traumatic past and possibly her instinct to defend herself from anything bigger than herself. if someone can help me with dealing with her aggression problems and could help me gain her trust, please tell me some tips or what to do to help her become more calm! I raised my first love bird by hand been with me 24/7 I love her to death she is 5 months old now or maybe 4 but she started to bite me a lot recently , use to bite me before but she use to do it generally now she just attacks me or wants to bite me for no reason all tho I’m away from her she would go out of her way to bite me 😭 I am raising a new baby love bird and she’s so aggressive towards him I don’t let them stay in the same meter from each other does anyone know why she bites me but never leave me alone ?
They can be territorial in cage, and tame outside. Try to not handle her around cage. Mine is getting super tame outside. They are social, and over time he will approach you for interaction, you just need patience... Also push him away, and say loud NO if he bites you for no reason outside of cage.
I have a love bird a few months old, was handfed I got a huge cage, tons of toys. when we would visit at the store to spend time while my lovebird was weaning off of formula, she or he ( I don't know the sex yet), was very calm and let me hold him or her for a long time. even after I first brought him home. now she or he is aggressive I let it out for 2 hours a day and right when I pick it up and try and hold it, it goes right for my fingers. I even try to hold it and give him treats like mullet, and when it's done eating the treats he automatically goes for my fingers again!!!! I keep soft music on for it, and talk to him and I'm with him in the living room from when I take off the sheet from his cage to when I put it back on at bedtime. I'm so frustrated I did my research before getting one and tried everything.
How long is he with you? They can be hardheaded, but having patience pays off. It took mine (one that bites me on video) about 6 months to stop seeing me as threat. Now, he kind of plays with my fingers, and nimble little. But not hard like on video. They are territorial, so i don't even try to arrange anything in cage when he is in. I only work with him outside of cage. They are social, so he will look for attention from you after some time, or check what you are doing. Slowly he will gain trust. Anyway, try to spend time with him. Don't let him boss you around when outside of cage. If he bites you, yell NO, and push him away. You can put him back in cage if he does it. You can use one of perches to make him jump on it, so you can bring him to cage on perch. After some time, try to call him on your arm, especially when just letting him out of cage. But if he's not in mood, dont force him :)
@@quakerparrotandlovebirds1138 the problem is when I let him out of the cage he won't go anywhere near me. Ayo bird experts, my love bird flies on my shoulder, follows me around, eats from my hand. But for some reason he doesn't sit on my finger and sees my hands and fingers as a threat even tho he eats from me it sometimes. I don't understand why he still constantly bites my hands even tho I'm very slow amd steady with the movement. Please help how dobi make him like my hands😭
Does she do it in cage? Mine is always agresive inside cage... females consider it as nest, and are realy protective... outside is different story
Outside of cage, you can close fist so she does not see finger, and put hand under her chest. Hopefuly she jumps on hand....
My Baby lovebirds just recently started biting he never did it before just recently
My lover Bird doesn't bite that much but when I put my finger in his forehead he got angry and started to bite me but slowly he does not bite that hard😅😅😊😊
i gave my lovebird cucumbers now its crazy and biting me so hard
why her nose has blood?
Lovebirds are aggressive and territorial especially female, who can defend their nest fiercely. They can also be very aggressive at other birds.
Guys my "male" love bird i named "him" blu because he has a mixture of blue colors in "him" i thought it was a boy but...after we brought an actual female one they didnt get along at first but now their best friends and i see blu taking pieces of stick in his feather on his back and take it inside then i got a hint and it was making a nest the female one wasnt helping so we took them to a bird store and the guy said "blu is a gurl :)" I WAS SHOCKED BECAUSE LIKE 5 MONTHS SHE HAS BEEN WITH ME I TOOK CARE OF HER WHEN IT COULDNT EVEN WALK it looks so much like a guy
Why does he talk so soft, hardly couldn't hear him! All my volume up.
@@quakerparrotandlovebirds1138 okay thank you for the tip I love her to death she’s my baby .
I'm in a lower level apartment and my windows are super high he just flies up there everytime. he has been with me two weeks. at first he didn't mind me holding him. now he won't let me or go anywhere near me. and I gave him his own time for a week and half. just talked to him all day. now he doesn't go anywhere near me

When you get a bird from a petstore, you are buying it not adopting it.
