I played RE 1 when first released. I even had the old case with Chris. It was the first survial horror game that really scared me and gave me anxieties on zombies😱. Music really pushed the creepiness to this game.
I found this game in my brothers collection around 1999z and honestly.... it was pretty freaking scary. Every death felt so real😂

Ok, the quick-time-event isnt accurate. People do think that Shenmue was the first to use it but that's just not true. Though the prompts never appear on screen, Dragon's Lair would actually be the first game to use quick time events. In fact, the entire game is just a quick time event. In fact, there were quite a few FMV games on the Sega CD that used them as well.
But even if we're looking at games where the QTE wasn't the main part of gameplay, Sega's Die Hard Arcade for the Sega Saturn used QTEs way back in 1996.
As for making them popular. Sure, you can say it's RE4. God of War also used them and that was released just 2 months after. I mean, it's not like we have developers admitting "We're using QTEs because of ____ game" so we can only speculate.
um...didn't RE3 had QTE?
Like the first time when you see Nemesis at the police station you get two options :
- fight the monster
- escape
In which you need to quickly decide

The viruses in the Resident Evil turns those that inject themselves to a reflection of their psyche.
Resident does not mean mansion or house, it simply refers to where you live. If you live in a cave, then the cave is your residence as you reside in it. A Residential district is not named as such because houses exist in it, but because that is the district that people 'live' in. The houses are simply a by product to meet that necessity. But, again, the term itself refers to the place you live, but, where you live or what you live in has no barring on the term itself.
Thus when you use the term Resident Evil, you can literally translate it to "Evil lives here
RE1 - Evil residents in a mansion
RE2 and 3 - Evil residents in a city
In CVX Evil lived on Rockfort Island.
RE4 - Evil residents in a countryside town and a castle
As for number 7 on ur list, that may have been for the best. My older brothers (they're 37 and 39, I'm 30) said they avoided the 1st RE at first cuz they played a lot of Doom on PC, and got burnt out by the whole 1st person monster thing, and they just figured this was A Doom clone. Idk which one of them decided to go ahead and get it, but they were greatly pleased. Not me cuz i was a little kid and was scared shitless by it, but i quickly grew to love it.

In RE3 Nemesis, Jill’s Diary is only unlocked from not only collecting every file in the game but all in the correct order. If you pick up a file out of order you will not unlock Jill’s Diary.

Resident evil 2 takes place after Jill has ran through the police station, and basically while she is knocked out from Nemesis is when Leon and Claire arrive and also blow up the Lab.

I’m glad remake is on so many consoles. I bought it on GameCube back in the day, on sale for 360, then on sale for PS4. Altogether about $35. I’d have to spend a little more than that just to get a GameCube if the game had never been ported. Not to mention a copy of remake on GameCube is like $60.

I had the dual shock version of resident evil 1 as a kid. Even than I thought that music was stupid as hell in that room.
Funny the first music you used as an example is the one I found the most scary when I first heard it. Gave you the sense that there were stronger enemies ahead. Perfect example. It's the most memorable music in the game to me. Also the guardhouse music is dope too.
I remember renting the director's cut and was confused as hell as to why they changed the music to somethin worse. I guess they redeemed themselves with the remake.

Recently I found out one thing, which is probably a common knowledge, but me and my best friend did not know: in the Lab, where you get the Flamethrower with Leon, there are some tentacles coming out an air shut. Well.....I always thought they were supposed to be burned with the flamethrower, but recently I found out you don't acually need it at all, you can just use the lighter, if playing with Leon, and ignite the oil -I think it's oil....oh well, the flamable something on the floor- to burn the tentacles xD
for the RE2 game all versions of the RE2 game has the cheat for unlimited ammo.
Fast forward to 2019: now we have RE 1 for the Nintendo Switch! 💖

Just a quick fact check. You can find George A. Romero’s script for RE online, and when you do you’ll see that is hardly uninteresting. Capcom’s CEO said he wanted to make the origins different and make a different story, so they declined his script. And that my friends, as we know, was a huge mistake.

I DESPISED the Resident Evil movies so much that after watching one, I actually said (I cant believe I did say this and I dont entirely know how I feel about it) House of the Dead was better. Thats right I called a Uwe Bowe movie better in comparison.

Mhh during is technically not right. RE3 was set in September 28th and October 1st, Leon and Claire arrived on September 29th and left on September 30th.
If you count off screen time as during then yes, that is true but since Jill is just in a coma I'd count that as a time skip.
It is said the events of RE2 take place during the time Jill is unconscious from the clock tower fight with nemesis. Carlos heads out for a cure during that time as well which is during RE2. Its not as if everything else just stopped.
Carlos heads out after Jill wakes up from the fight, which is after the events of RE2. The timeline itself doesn't stop, that is true, but the gameplay just skips from September 28th to October 1st.
Before and after you mean? Jill was in a coma during resident evil 2.
Gotta ask though, how did she not turn within those days? Like, it usually doesn’t take that long for the T-Virus to spread throughout the body. Then again, this is RE plot convenience we’re talking about.

well he was wrong about some, like Chris being the guy in the cover and the weapon not being in the game. That is confirmed to be Richad Aiken in the cover and that weird weapon is available as an extra in the PC version of the game.

Also, he mentions the boarded up doors and rooms in RE 3 saying that they were boarded up after RE 2, when at that point in the game, RE3 takes place on September 28 and RE2 takes place the day after, September 29

Also, you can't give mouth-to-mouth to Richard as Chris, as Rebecca's either tending to him when you find him, or if you met up with Rebecca early on, he's already dead. Only Jill can administer mouth-to-mouth.

Actually, I did give him mouth to mouth as Chris, and he gave me a different time for the dining room clock to drop shotgun shells.
Jill gets to the police station before Claire or Leon arrive. Jill later gets infected and loses consciousness until after resident evil 2 takes place. So yeah those doors were boarded up before hand.
27:00 Considering God of War 1 came out only 2 months later. I'd say it's a stretch to say that RE4 inspired developers to do more quick time events in their games.

Wow...all this time and I never knew you could stand still to keep lickers from detecting you. I guess since I played it when I was younger, I didn't think about them having no eyes. I just figured they could still see you since they're messed up monsters. And that logic stayed with me, so I still would run from them and keep moving while fighting. I wonder if standing still works in RE5. Probably not, since playing alone would cause the AI to act alone. Probably shoot them up. And there are a lot more of them.
It works (you can walk too), and the A.I. doesn't run if you don't (but I wouldn't be surprised if someone told me once the A.I. actually ran since random stuff happens all the time in videogames, especially if it's something like gta sa lol)

Actually, it was reported that the Windows 95 version DOES in fact contain the uncensored intro. It was also supposed to be included in the Director's Cut, but an apparent mistake on Capcom's part resulted in the intro still being censored...
Can confirm. I played a windows version about 6 years ago and the cutscenes were in color and uncensored. There was also a bonus Machine Gun unlockable not seen in any other version.

What you said Jill gets for knocking out the Nemesis, either with your own weapons or with "Live Selection" quick decision based things (like electrocuting him with a live wire and puddle on the clock tower, or blasting him with leaking gas and a lamp in the restaurant), wasn't all correct. What you get and how many times you gotta drop the Nemesis is as follows:
1. EAGLE Parts A for the STI Eagle 6.0
2. EAGLE Parts B for the STI Eagle 6.0
3. First Aid Case
4. M37 Parts A for the Western Custom M37
5. M37 Parts B for the Western Custom M37
6. First Aid Case
7. Assault Rifle (only on the first play through) or an Infinite Ammo Case (on all the subsequent play throughs) that can be used to make a single weapon of your choice never rum out. The Magnum or Grenade Launcher are great choices.
The teenager playing Leon in the RE2 commercial was Brad Renfro, a then up-and-coming young Hollywood actor with leading or prominent roles in movies like "The Client", "Sleepers", "Apt Pupil" and "Ghost World" (he died in 2008 - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brad_Renfro). He was in fact 17 when he did the ad, but Leon in RE2 is supposed to be only 22, so him still being babyfaced doesn't seem like a big deal for me.

i thought the first one he was talking about versions of re1 since idk the saturn and pc are encessually just the same but ported yet. since they only added a little thing to each. for the remastered version he counted gamecube and ps4 version only even tho it was on ps3,xbox 360, xbox one pc, and wii too.
A playable version exists of RE1 for the GB Color. Unlike the truly canned for good GBA tech demo.

No actually the fraud composer's music WAS the music that it was changed to. Mamoru Samuragochi, look him up he did the music to the Resident Evil Director's Cut Dual Shock Version and he faked being deaf and that he composed that version. Makoto Tomozawa did the original composing and his version is praised

Actually Resident evil 3 takes place before and after of resident evil 2. The police station with Jill actually was before resident evil 2 events since Brad was found later has a zombie in resident evil 2 when Leon (or Claire) saw him outside in police station. I guess when Jill was attack with nemesis and Carlos was there to save her. A week went by I think and resident evil 2 event had already happen. Since Leon and Claire escaped from Raccoon City just happen in one night. The boarded up doors in police station was probably Marvin who boarded up before resident evil 3 and unboarded it up after. That or maybe it was the chief of police.

George A. Romero's Resident Evil movie script is Fuckin a 100 times better than anything Paul WS Anderson wrote/made... Yes it needed a few tweaks and a few revisions but seriously anyone that hasn't read it, Go and to read it!!! It's pretty Fuckin awesome. Especially for a first draft, it's really that good and it stays true to the game and the subject matter. It's pretty much the entire first game taking place in the Mansion even with the iconic boss fights and all the characters, with a few new characters. Every B.O.W. makes an appearance. It would have been one Hell of an awesome Fuckin movie!!! So much better than any of the shit movies Anderson made.
if george romero directed the resident evil movies, capcom would have made millions of money, but since they are dickheads, they didn't read the script well & anderson fucked up the resident evil movies
His script wasn't any better and worse the characters were nothing like their game counter parts. Last the story was all over the place. Capcom should have gotten a writer like S.D. Perry (author of the resident evil novels from the 90s) and another writer to help with the movie but keep Romreo on board. If they would have that Resident Evil could been the first official good video game movie out there. But capcom had to be idiots about it and pick anderson to make the resident evil movies which were horrible regardless if they followed the games or not.

Don’t get me wrong, Day of the Dead is one of the best zombie themed movies ever made but most people I talk to have never seen it or heard of it outside of the horrible remakes they did.
Minor inconsistencies aside, the SD Perry novels would’ve worked perfect as a basis for a script.

I’m pretty sure someone said this already. But the windows version was the definitive version with the uncensored colour opening when the game was first released. All movie files were accessible via explorer and you can even watch the unattainable death reel credits roll clip.
This is the actual Nemesis drop order:
1st & 2nd - Handgun parts A & B respectively
3rd - First aid spray box
4th & 5th - Shotgun parts A & B respectively
6th - First aid spray box
7th (first playthrough) - Assault rifle
7th (not first playthrough) - Infinity ammo for 1 weapon, if used on the Minethrower it also adds homing.
Dunno if its an Easter egg but above the bar's back door in re3 there's a sign that says, "This too shall pass." I've always loved that phrase.

Damn.. that game is almost unknown from the Resident Evil community and i can understand why. But that game, is my childhood. That game is my very first Resident Evil game that i played.
I remember playing it with the light gun for PS2! Such fun! Maybe it wasn't the best RE game... But I still enjoyed it more than RE6 :P
