It must have been annoying to open up that scanner and get it clean to the point it doesn’t interfere with the images. Thank you Markus for the effort you put into it for us!

Thanks for mentioning that, I was twice thinking to let it be, but then I thought you guys deserve to see what this scanner is capable of and so I kept digging to find the issue. Scanning is much more than putting in some media and pressing a button. It’s all about cleanliness, settings and preparation. There is a reason that some while ago companies had scan operators

Lucky one you could find all the aditional hardware. And nice results. Was courious if you could get that monster back to life.

Amazing! I'll have to keep an eye out for this scanner, and then work on adapting things to USB. Also, I forgot how easy it is to configure SCSI under windows; configuring SCSI under DOS was a pain in the butt. There's a reason they jokingly call it "System Can't See It".

The scsi interface was the king of interfaces for a while before USB took over.

Great video 😊 I revived a Nikon Ls2000 many years ago my dad bought at the Flohmarkt for 5€. It needed a very deep clean as well but image quality is amazing. However, now I face another problem keeping it running as my new computers dont have a Pci port anymore to use my Adaptec2940U SCSI Card. But I'm working on a solution- up to then I need to keep an old Pc for that. Btw, is your Pcmcia SCSI card fast enough? They're rather expensive unfortunately but would be my prefered solution :(

That sounds like a great deal. And cleaning is often easily possible. I still have that card with its original packaging. If you want it, just send me an email. I have also a spare Mac if you prefer that.

I must say it's pretty impressive for such an old device. Though I must say that the late 1990's and early 2000's were the heyday of film scanning.

I agree, not sure how much better the scanners are today - I guess they last shorter. I could zoom in on both much more btw.
