That is interesting and looks very well made, but very pricey. I've been using a Delta 2 inside and outside for the past year and it works fantastic. I already have a 2000-watt (pure sine wave) Inverter in my truck for using electrical tools around the Ranch 🤠 I plug the A/C *output* from the Inverter into the A/C *input* on the Delta 2 and recharge the Delta 2 at 1000-watts (from 25% to 100%) in less than an hour using the hardware I already have installed.
Yes, that works and should work pretty good for a long time.
How about a video of what alternator to upgrade to that will charge best? That would help me out. Thanks
oh, great question.
Generally you want whatever alternator fits in your car and puts out the most power possible.
But the gains in charge time would be minimal unless youre doubling your alternator capacity
Should I get a high output alternator to help with extra accessories
Not needed. This will take what the alternator gives it. It can't take more
So, I got my alternator charger installed in my 2017 Tacoma TRD Offroad and up and running without issue. First test shows that the stock alternator installed in the TRD trim does handle 800watts (at idle even) with no additional loads like lights or other added draws. Turn on the headlights and fogs and the watts dip down into the 630's. Rev up to around 2k and watts go back up to 800. I don't plan to charge any higher than 500 from this charger on normal opertation, and probably set it lower if I have 150-200 watts of solar coming in at the same time. Not good to fast charge all the time, and while driving for long distances or long trails it will be sufficient to keep my 2k worth of batteries up to snuff.
Sounds like a great install
800w isn't fast enough to ever harm the battery. You could do that all the time without issue
Probably not going to be an issue. I don't even use the full 1200 watt option to charge off 120 VAC. It is nice to know the option is there though. Side note for you, did you notice that when a Smart Extra Battery is connected to a Delta unit that your max 120 VAC watt option jumps up from 1200 to 1500 watts? When I first notice this, I thought somthing was odd. When I disconnected the Smart Extra Battery, the max charging watts was set back to 1200 wattts.
We want to purchase the EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max Portable Power Station with the 800W Alternator. However, we keep hearing (internet forums) about the "possible" issue of damaging our Alternator in our Toyota 2024 TRD Offroad Premium SUV. This is our first go at modifying our vehicle for extended cross-country trips this summer. Should we be concerned?
I just installed one and it attaches to the battery and not the alternator.
Yes, battery is easiest for install
Im Sipho owning Eco flow river pro my question is can l recharge my river pro with eco flow alternator charger? If so how
If it has the port on the side, yes
if you buck off the ecoflow pluig ends,,, wonder if you could retro fit it to another solar generator ?
(and have all it's functionallity ?)
Short answer.... Probbaly
I have another generator now to test out and was thinking the same thing.
But, for the complexity and price there is an easier way to fast charge all of these things.
Stay tuned for a video showing that method
Hello, thank you for this video. just one question: with an XT 150 to XT 60 adapter can we connect the EcoFlow charger to a battery of another brand (Bluetti)?
I don't think you can. The cables are different
No but you are able to use aftermarket 12 or 24v batteries to easily increase capacity. Get a spare input cable from ecoflow with fuse. Run one of them from you car battery to charge your ecoflow device. When charged disconnect the cable from your car battery from the ecoflow device. Reverse charge at 850watts into your aftermarket batteries to charge em up. Rinse and repeat until everything is topped off.
I use the ecoflow delta 2 and 3 12v 100AH power queen minis wired in parallel 4096WH of power. Unlimited power while overlanding as I can recharge everything in about 5.5 6 hours. If stationary I can temper my 12v fridge and any Air conditioner usage with a 400w panel so draw is minimal. This device really is a game changer
I can’t seem to find the serial number on it, do you know where it’s at? I’m trying to register it.
Great question. Check the app. It's probbaly reported in there
Hi, looks interesting. Can a solar be used to generate the energy instead of the vehicle? This would add another MPPT to the Delta Pro, which would be great.
Yes, but best to connect it to a battery that charges off solar so you can absorb any fluctuations in current draw from teh extra battery.
But that's how mine is being hooked up
Just added the same system to my 35’ boat, works great off my 400watt solar panels/ 3 bank batteries. I lowered the charger from max 800 watt to 400 watts matching the solar panels, then set the start up charging to 12watts on the EcoFlow app. This acted as if it was an alternator on a vehicle. As long as I get full sun, it’s way quicker than the 12 volt outlet on the boat.
Is there any guidance in the instructions on alternator sizes for example is a 240 amp alternator sufficient
Yes. The system is smart, it'll take what it can get
I have a 130 amp alt, and can pull the full 800 watts even at idle.
I have a 2013 RAV4 and it’s charging at 800 watts using the stock alternator. Amazing!
Can be Delta pro charged with Ecoflow alternator charger from Lifepo4 48V 200ah battery (Operating Voltage 43.2V-57.6V)?
That's a great question. You would need to check the specs for input voltage on the alternator charger. If it supports 48v then yes
I only looked at the 12v install since that's what it was designed for
@@GearsAndTech What you think ?? My Lifepo4 48V 200ah battery has operating Voltage 43.2V-57.6V!
Ecoflow alternator chargers specs:
Charging Mode Input: 11V-31V, 76A Max. Output: 40V-60V, 800W Max.
Battery Maintenance Mode Input: 40V-60V, 3A Max. Output: 13.8V/27.6V, 100W Max.
Reverse Charging Mode Input: 40V-60V, 21A Max. Output: 13.8V/27.6V, 800W Max.
My cars maximum output is only 160 watts ….. how would I possibly get 800 W out of that?
You get wattage from voltage or current.
This boosts the voltage up, so current stays within your alternator capacity.
Your alternator does 160w at 14v
But it can do 800w at 60v all day.
Current is the same in both scenarios
have you tried the ecoflower power kits? very expensive tho...
I have the delta 2. Working great, more videos showing how we use it are coming out soon as well
Great video by the way and I want to ask you since I just purchased this item. That I'm able to also use solar power from my van roof that has two panels that put out 400 Watts and in addition to this device that you can hook up to your battery so say for example you could receive $1,200 Watts coming in would that be true or only the 800 Watts and then have to use the solar panel at a different time to receive those watts?
I have similar setup
Was going to hook the fast charger up to my rv battery. It'll give you the 800w fast charge off the battery.
If you have 400w solar then the solar charges the rv battery as the fast charger charges the ecoflow
Unfortunately you can't dual charge the system. So you can't the 800w fast charge off this and the 400 watt off the solar.
It's one or the other
But this should keep upoat days as you're unlikely to be pulling 800 watts non stop for hours on end.
@@GearsAndTech thanks and that helps.
@@GearsAndTechwait you can’t use the ecoflow 400 w solar panel and this at the same time for your delta pro?
@@claeslind9532 they both charge through the solar charging port on your Delta 2 series power station.
I have one on preorder but really want to find out if this can be plugged directly into any of the Smart Extra batteries so they can be charged stand alone from a Delta unit?
As it sit now, the Smart Extra batteries are at the mercy of the Delta unit to fees it.
With a Delta 2, there is only one side connection, so I would have to seperate my Smart Extra battery to charge the Delta 2 with this new alternator charger.
Should be able to plug into the battery add on as well
I wondered what guys using that side port already were supposed to do. Seems a little less easy in that scenario
@@GearsAndTech Hopefully EcoFlow will update their website with info regarding this, or some guinea pig gives it a try so we can all learn together. 😂
Thanks for the video!
Specs look OK to charge my non ecoflow lifepo4 48v batteries but these cables might get in the way.. I wonder if the output end can be stripped and connected straight to the battery bank..
Hobotech did a RUclips on your very question. 5e answer is yes, but watch the video for yourself. I think he just released it.
@@bdmenne Thx. If you notice in the other comments, I contacted EF directly and got the same good news straight from them. It's a GO!!!
You make a big point about pass through and that people who have used inverters have "forgotten" about this issue.
Pass through is simple to turn off in settings via energy management backup reserve.
Please get your facts straight as the first 3 minutes of your video point out this trivial issue.
I assume D2s work the same in the States/Canada as they do over in Europe.
Kinda harsh delivery. But I'll look into what you're saying. I haven't seen that option in the app
@@GearsAndTech yeah fair enough. I thought you own/use EF kit....👍
