Love this...fully understand the joy of restoration. Love the TR3's and the vintage European rides.

I don't think there is anyone in that car's country of origin (UK) who is as well organized as you and nor have I seen any TR-3A in this same country (UK) renovated to such a high standard as yours and nor have I seen any private car garage in this overcrowded small country as large as yours! Kudos to you. Your inventory is amazing.

Hi Steve I loved your video on the Triumph TR3A great job. I was born in Birmingham England not far from the Longbridge car plant early in the fifties and as a young boy saw these beautiful cars daily on our roads. I never quite got to own one but did drive one a few times you video brought back a lot of memories of driving through some of our country lanes. You have done justice to one of our classics great job I look forward to following some of your restoration projects as retired engineer I can appreciate your pure passion.

Great video that once again has made me realize how much I love sport cars and my mechanic. For me cars are to be driven and mechanics are there to fix them. Beautiful car, by the way.

In 1960, I was 12, and saw a TR3, I said, my first car will be the TR3. 50 Years ago, I bought one, in good condition for what's now $ 900,-. The synchromesh between 2 & 3 gear, I had to replace, so I took out the gearbox from above. In those days (1970) Triumph was still in Coventry, so spare parts was no problem. Next I replaced the silent bush, and fulcrum pin. I also blew the rear axle, replaced that as well. Weak parts of the TR, remained the dynamo, and starter motor, Lucas shit hahaha! Cosmetics, restoring the beige upholstery, then I bought a hardtop. Restored the side curtains. It was the Racing green version, so I had the car in mint condition. I drove it for years through Europe. Never broke down. I sold the car to an American, I was about to buy my first house. My last Triumph was the latest Stag, as I was in a car accident, and it needed body work, I took the car to my Mother Country England, as that turned out much cheaper. They couldn't start working on it, as we waited weeks to have the front panel delivered from the factory. So I rented a car, and drove to Coventry on a Friday afternoon. Just to see about 150 people with their feet on a desk, doing nothing. That image told me, this is the end! Ps, driving a TR, on brick roads in the rain, that was bloody dangerous! (Tabak is a Dutch name).

Excellent -that black restoration looks damn near perfect! Can someone please tell me what the metal plates on the wheel arch, behind the doors are for? Repelling stones flipped up by the front wheels I presume?

My wife tells me I turned about the same color as the 3 you didn’t talk about while watching this video.
If you wanted to leave me something in your will that green 3 would be just fine. ; )

Phil Allen is a genius with these cars, but I appreciate his need to retire, his knowledge is sorely missed.
