Came across this video while doing research about ceramic coating for a blog I'm writing. Incredible work. I live in NYC so I don't have a car anymore but I've used this channel a lot for information and I'm blown away by what you can do with the right skills and tools.
I enjoy watching theses videos, great stuff to learn. I’m super picky about my truck and it’s cleanliness, always wanting to Know how to keep it clean. Thanks for these videos!:)
Glad you pointed out that prep is most of the work. That’s why I shrug when I see people commenting on product reviews saying a product doesn’t last, and you see their picture of an old contaminated swirled up beater car. The same prep is even more critical before a true ceramic coating.
Jason, great series. This was one of the best blogs from start to finish. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, and the great staff at Chicago Auto Pros.
Awesome work and video series! Have watched them all. You have done them very thoroughly with a lot of information in them. The GTi looks beutieful! And where is the sun when you need it LOL! Follower from Sweden
Hey Jason, I used to own a red GTI like your's. I chipped the rear edge of the bonnet paint lifting up the wipers like you did. And then I found out about "VW wiper service position" which moves the wipers up to the top of their stroke allowing you to hinge them out away from the screen. Full access to the screen for cleaning and much easier to get to the cowl also. Your car looked awesome at the finish, great job mate.
Jason, hats off to you on a job well done! White is super hard ( for me anyway) to coat because it’s hard to tell where you need to go or where you’ve been! I love Gtechniq products as well. Thanks for the super video!
Thanks a lot for the time and effort you put into your educational/informative videos. As a learner it’s really helpful. A couple questions: 1. How much paint correction would a new, factory-ordered vehicle require if you picked it up as soon as it hit the dealer? 2. I don’t have a garage at home and would love to get into detailing my vehicles. Is it a total waste to do paint correction / ceramic coating without a garage (and definitely no clean room)? Thanks again.
Man your level of detail is amazing! Really wish you had a spot closer to Florida. I can maintain the car but I would love for your company to do first detail your approach is like surgery! FRANCHISE!
Loved the video quite informative and enjoyable Music!! I was hoping for a bright sunny day for the money shot but that’s how the cookie crumbles !! Will probably go your route on protecting my brand new truck paint job . It won’t ever be as clean as the first week off the lot..
Great informative videos. I appreciate it and hopefully I can start pushing myself to sell some coatings. Have you used SPS Graphene coating yet? I will be hopefully offering that too.
Very well done and excellent information, just a few question though. I know that the towels you use to remove the coating are no longer good and need to be thrown away once your done. My question is, how many sections can you do with the same towel or particular section of towel? I assume once you remove a section of coating, that section of towel is also no longer available to use on the next section?
Brilliant series! Gotta say again though, steering wheel still looks shiny and oily, can you do a video on how you get a steering wheel back to factory? Just as I feel alot of people forget to go over that part properly. Keep up the great videos guys 😎
in my experience with gtechniq CSL you can remove high spots reaplying the product but you have to wait 1-2 minutes before removing it!!! very good video
Great video. Only issue I noticed is that you're putting the coating towels onto the windshield which can leave product behind and leave high spots on the glass. CSL EXO is a combo we use often, love it.
I feel like I learned something..... I feel like we are best friends. You own a badass VW (I personally have always owned VW, but I don't anymore), we both have badass beards, and both love detailing! Keep up the great work. You inspire me to be better
That prep stage is so important. Had a Mercedes Benz come into the body shop I work at with a ceramic coating. The owner had the coating applied over terrible swirled and scratched paint, with a lot of over spray from previous body work. It was painful to look at...
Loved! Subscribed! Rookie question: Are the towels toast after you wipe off the ceramic? Or will they clean up just fine for re use? Thanks for a great vid. I’m inspired to try this on my wife’s Lexus.
I'm a year late but thank you for this Jason. Very detailed & easy to follow. Ever since I got my supra I been loving the detail world even more. I made a slight mistake with my headlights & now there are scratches & swirls. Cant see them during the day but at night when the lights are on it's in your face. What would you recommend using to fix this problem?
Hi there, really love your videos and great work on all the info. Here's a little question that i can't seem to find an answer for: once the car is ceramic coated how would you wash it in the freezing winter temperature if i don't have a garage? Up in Canada where i live there's no diy wash stations, just contact and contactless car washes.
I love your channel! I really enjoy cleaning cars and I have learned so much watching you. I noticed it took you 4 days to do the paint correction and coating. I recently purchased and new escalade and I wanted to get it paint corrected and ceramic coated, I took it to a detailer in my town with good reviews. But my Escalade is a lot bigger than this car, and he only had my car for 24hrs. He did use a different brand than you OPTI-COAT. Car looks great, its been 3 months since the coating, and It's normally really easy to wash, I never use a brush or sponge, just rinse, use high pressure soap, and rinse again, and its clean. Once Spring comes I intend on washing my vehicle at home with the steps of the proper wash from your previous videos. I say all this to ask ..I noticed today, when I washed my car and came home it was as dirty as before I washed it. I don't drive this car often It stays in my garage most days.I have owned it since Oct. bought with 6miles and it just now was 1200 miles. Am I doing something wrong in my washing process or could it be the coating wasn't properly done? Thanks for the videos and any tips you may have! Watched your video when you came to Nashville wish you could do a detail class in Nashville!! We need more guys like you and Wilson Auto detailing!
Hi Angela, Thanks for the kind words. My car was not brand new and needed extensive paint correction. If your car is new and didn't need any correction, it can be done in one day. If you are just pressure washing it and not actually using a mitt, I would say you probably just have a buildup and need to do a proper wash.
Great video!!! Wish there was a Montreal Auto Pros in my area... You said at the end of your video, that you did the inside... where can I see the video, please ???
Loved the video (especially since I own a white GTI as well). Curious as to how much that entire process costs. Was there paint correction? (And if so, how much does typically run for Chicago-maintained-street-damaged-cars?... Asking for a friend... Or so I tell my wife, lol)
great video, lots of information, and agreed the RC clothes are good. But what do you do with the used Pearl clothes, some info online says to bin them??
Nice info! Perhaps in future you folks could let us know what ceramic coatings actually __bond with/into__ the clear coat .vs. those that lie __on top__ of the clear coat ? Also, I'm curious if any Graphene coatings bond with/into the clear coat.
So many more questions but looks are great! Now let the snow fall! What was glass product? I do not see it listed. And for the glass you said 3-coats but how much time between the coats? EXO dries to touch and any tackiness while it cures? Thanks Jason for doing this on a WHITE car, so many of them on the road!
Thank you for the great tips of this American company ceramic coating. Do you have an update for the engine of this GTI? I am very curious about it. It is really clan and good looking car. Probably worth to get rebuilt engine.
Hi, thank for great another great video, pls suggest there are 2 coats first is ceremic & 2nd is base coat which is hydrofobic, is 2coat applied before ceremic or after?
So I have seen a few different techniques while applying cermic coatings. Does it matter how its applied? Or is it dependent on the coating or does it not matter at all? Ive seen how you dod some in circles and ive seen strait lines with a cross hatch pattern and then ive seen a cross hatch strait pattern with a wide spread between the forst then close on second pass to get good coverage. Just a noob question for someone who is taking a lot of time for research to be able to give great quality details. Thanks in advance!
The wheel armour I believe doesn’t work unpainted surface on wheels. I saw you you coat it but I think the Modesta bco6 would work better on the unpainted section. What’s your thoughts James?
Hey bud great video. The gtechniq supplier in Australia told us not to waste our time applying C5 on non painted surfaces like metal exhaust and wheel surfaces. Apparently it does not bond. What are your experiences and your thoughts? Thanks and regards, Adem
Big fan of ur work, can you help me, I want to ask you can ceramic coating is sustainable and applicable on chrome tank of bike(Royal Enfield Interceptor Limited Edition). Is it useful or successful.
I have such respect for the actual concentrated, laborious work that goes into this line of business.
These videos motivate me to up my own detailing game, thanks for the tips and how to's!
Nothing short of amazing, you are a true inspiration to detailers, hobbyists and business owners alike!!!
Well done J-dogg....I wouldn't expect anything less than perfection from you.
Thank you for this, no one ever can explain this well ❤️❤️
Great series of videos. Each episode was very informative. Thank you
