My camera batteries died, but after this we practiced drops, transitions, and ended the session with a couple rounds skinny singles. I'll film those in our next session.
I learned a good drill for footwork. Basically, it's the kitchen game but you must keep 2 hands on the paddle at all times. You lose the point if you take off a hand. It forces you to not over reach and to use your footwork to keep the ball within your stance
One of the things that made me fall in love with pickleball was how many similarities it had with chess. Striking a balance between offense and defense. Patience and set up. Tactics and patterns. It's art.
@@edjupickleball Yes, the patterns. I've been pretty good at seeing patterns in chess, especially with my daily puzzle rush, but I'm only starting to see the patterns in pickleball. Definitely fun stuff!
great content, but for the love of god please warn your hitting partner of a ball rolling right towards their feet when a ball is in play (@5:50). i'd even do this for an opponent. it takes a few seconds away from practice but can save someone their career. He even picked it up in the middle of the point despite it already rolling towards the net!
Thanks! I'm really trying to work on my consistency and quality of dinks though because against 5.0+ I feel like I still crumble under their dinks and I don't want to always rely on fast hands to get me out of trouble-- it's just not as consistent and reliable as being a good dinker in the first place tbh
Very interesting video on drills. Interesting also to understand how pros and higher level players think strategically:first attacking “girls” or the weak opponent with drives and only if it does not work change strategy. I am so glad to see women pro and non getting smarter and stronger in their game.
I was playing Pickleball tonight and the server on the other team hit his ball into the wrong court and hit the player and that court if he hadn’t hit the player, he would’ve been in the wrong court and they said he got a point for doing that is that true, I would appreciate all the help you can give me
Some do, but Chiron told me he stays in eastern the entire time. A lot of the pros are really good at making micro adjustments to their grip mid point and efficiently choosing a grip that is optimal for each shot. I typically don’t recommend it, but once you get comfortable enough with it, it’s almost subconscious and quite efficient.
Love this type of content bro. Please never stop posting videos like this
Yessir!
This guy is Genius.
So a full drilling session is only dinking?

Oh, I'm going to try that one!
That's a great idea-- I'm going to try that too!
I like the idea of testing the opponent to get information. And being a chess player, too, I like the comparison with strategies. Thank you!

Chiron seems super cool. Loving the way he approaches drilling and strategy.
That looks a lot more Western than Eastern.

Btw Ed. Your hands are so good!

Bro I just learned what an ATP is. So interesting and cheeky!
Love this content. So much to learn from these kinds of recordings. Keep it up Ed 👍🏻
why didn't you warn him about the ball coming up :l could've injured himself
Curious about the camera equipment you are using. I have been recording some matches and want to get multiple angles like what you did in this video.

Yes that’s true if u hit the player during the serve on the wrong side that’s a point for them
Ed, what gear are you using for recording? ie: vid cam, microphones, etc.

Osmo pocket 3
So do pros change their grip from continental to eastern when they move towards the kitchen?
Some do, but Chiron told me he stays in eastern the entire time.

Is Chiron also holding an eastern grip on the cross court dinks? Backhand and forehand
He’s eastern the entire time- he personally doesn’t switch
Is he always holding Eastern grip or switching it on the counter?
He's always in eastern-- very similar to riley newman, but a little bit less extreme on the grip.
Chiron is always so nice on and off court. Skills wise impeccable. Big window wiper and cut throat dinking pressure with those volley rolls.
good video!
2000 elo is insane
Good job Ed.
So good!
What paddle is he using?
looks like the gearbox pro elongated
