Danny Gatton was a guitar wizard! I saw a show with him once, and it took 'til he was offstage 5 minutes to get my jaw off the flow. Yeah, we lost him way too soon!
I saw them in Des Moines last year and the reaction was similar... but, this looks like a wake! Some of their other live videos the crowds are eerily similar... very zombie-like. I think people have no idea what is happening before their eyes & ears! BTW, I'm a little north of 60 & have no problem digging the 'jackets !

Anyway, I suspect you're thinking of the "correct rhythm" that Vince Guaraldi played with his left hand ... which is pretty easy on the piano, but rather a hellish pattern to play on bass, and it probably wouldn't sound that great at this tempo anyway.
+G Wernette If the "inadequate bass player" couldn't play "the music", I'm guessing the band would fire him. The lead guitarist didn't play the "correct rhythms" either ... because they made some stylistic choices with the arrangement. I'm just not understanding what you're so angry about.
