+ReaLSpiN Not sure if we will see the convetional flares for this aircraft (I doubt so though), however there might be some flares for the ZA variant. The red, green, white and yellow are just singal flares which you can fire to for example mark a position or help out on identification. The Mi-8 and the Ka-50 also have them.
+xxJohnxx Good to hear that, i got another question if you don't mind, after i startup everything, my thrust does not move forward, i did exactly what you did in the video...
+ReaLSpiN Did you move the throttle also from cut-off to idle? Does your controller binding work? Maybe check if DCS recognizes the imput by bringing up the input indicator with RAlt + Enter.
I just purchased the L-39. Your video is really a great help for me in learning to fly it. Even though your video is a couple years old I found it very good. I have only watch a couple for the L-39 so far. If possible can you enplane a little more about the ground braking and driving it on the ground. I am a little confused about the ground braking system and how to actually use them. I have read Chucks Manuel but still have problems at times understanding things. I am a 65 year old never been a real pilot in my life DCS flyer. I know many things are easier to learn and grasp at a younger age. I am eager to learn this lane as I have tried a few others and think this is ht best pace for me to start getting my heard around jets.
+dere lor Thank you for the info. Noticed the spelling misstake as well. Actually even looked up Albatross in the dictionary to make sure it is written correctly. :P
Just wondering, what stick do you use? And this is kind of cheese, or at least a lot of guys would think. Do you have some tips and/or keybinding spreed sheet or something in that direction for some DCS modules? Having a hard time finding what I need the most for the newest aircraft I have bought, and the ones I haven't flew in a while :) Sincerely a new and a big fan of your videos.
+Daniel Solbrekke Using the TM Warthog and the MFG Crosswind pedals as well as TrackIR obviously. No, sorry to disapoint, I don't have any layouts on hand. However, I can give you a guide on what I usually do: 1. First, I will take a look at the flight controls: - Pitch, Roll and Yaw as well as the brakes are obvious items to assing to the proper axis. - Landing gear, flaps and speed brakes will also be assigned to the proper keys on my throttle. - Also, depending on the aircraft I asign buttons for Trim as well as the auto pilot. 2. Avionics: - Depending on the aircraft, I will usually start with the radar and targeting system controlls (Shval, TGP, ...). 3. Weapons: - Again, like the avionics, I will take a look at some of the weapon controlls and assing obvious stuff (like the trigger). - Counter messures are quit similar in all aircraft, so I usually set keybinds for those as well. 4. Doing some testing: - At this point I will start up DCS and do a couple of start ups, take-offs as well as maybe some work with the avionics and weapons. Now it will become quit obvious which keybinds are missing or are on the wrong button and which keybinds don't find any use. Therefore I adjust step 1-3 until everything fits my needs. I try to keep all my aircraft similar (same buttons do the same functions), however, I will also consider what is available on the real stick/throttle and what is not. So for example in the MiG-21, I would not have a weapon selector function on my joystick, as the real one doesn't have one either. I hope that helps! John
Wow, thanks for the tips. Not that many who would take time to give a so good answer :). I got TM warthog and TrackIR myself (gonna invest in some rudder pedals soon). I try to keep my layouts pretty similar myself. But again thanks, I really appreciate your help. A waaaay better method than mine who was trying to make a similar binding as the A-10C (with toggles and etc.) I could make it with TARGET, but I feel like the bindings in DCS is better, don't know about you. And like you said, the weapon selector in MIG-21 isn't on the stick and hasn't a "logical" place to bind. Stay awesome :D
Not sure about the sim time, as I am currently not at home. However, the Mig's clock shows 1500, so I guess somewhere arround that. Not sure about the name of the airport, however it is just the L-39C Quick Start mission, so you can start that and have a look yourselfe ;)
+White Eagle You mean the text you see at 17:13? If yes, than sorry, no that is neither a mod nor new. I just don't have the actual radio menu visible in the recording, so I created that text in post-recording edditing, to allow you guys to see the keypresses.
Vielen Dank aus Amerika! That is the extent of my Deutsch, which is sehr schlecht. I habe dieses Flugzeug gekauft. Wie sagt man auf Deutsch, "Now I have to read the manual!" "Jetzt muss ich den Manual lesen"? Anyway, I love your videos. Keep up the good work!
+LennysCopilot Bitte, bitte! Hehe, nice German! Your phrase was nearly correct, only one small change: "the manual" should be "die Anleitung". ;) Enjoy flying the L-39! :)
Very useful tutorial, easy to understand..thanks a lot for taking the time for make it!
Bought L 39 and people recommended your videos. Excellent videos John, helped me lot in learning L 39.. Thanks!!
+Abhishek Serjam Thank you! Feedback is allways appricated! :)
Good stuff! well done. I always enjoy watching your videos!
Great video. Very helpful and well done. Thank your for taking the time to make it.
Thanks John for making this video. Excellent presentation of the new L-39C in the DCS World 1.5. Looking forward to the next one.
+KnudsenSK Thank you! Trying to get the next video up as soon as possible!
Great introduction video, good work!
Thanks heaps, this was incredibly helpful!
Thanks for taking the time to make this.
Lovely video, the L39 is a beauty.

Hey, thanks for the greal tuturials:) would you mind to add rockets and bombing for the L39 with showing how to correct use the dive angle.
Good comprehensive video. BTW the Mig15 also has wheel chocks.
+GreyMaulkin is that new?
+GreyMaulkin Didn't know that. Thanks for the info!
+Skipper SMG nope it's been there since the first release of the module I believe.
+GreyMaulkin oh ok thats new to me. Never had to remove them. I just increased thrust and started taxiing like in the other modules.
+Skipper SMG yeah they are not on by default. You have to ask the ground crew to place them which is useful for run-up test.
Well presented!
+Panimala Thank you for you kind words!
Well done. BTW: 0:01 L-39C Albatross -> Albatros
+dere lor Thank you for the info. Noticed the spelling misstake as well. Actually even looked up Albatross in the dictionary to make sure it is written correctly. :P
Very helpful, thanks.
Great video John.
+Jethro Herman Thank you for your kind words! Trying to hide my accent as good as I can. Not really working out though :P
Dont hide it, It's great.

At what (sim) time did you record the video? And is that airport Beslan? :-)
Not sure about the sim time, as I am currently not at home. However, the Mig's clock shows 1500, so I guess somewhere arround that.
Not sure about the name of the airport, however it is just the L-39C Quick Start mission, so you can start that and have a look yourselfe ;)
Will do, thanks.
So I don't need ground power to start-up? I can rely solely on the APU?
+lpblewis Yes, an APU only start is possible. This is very common with nearly any type of aircraft, to allow for use on unprepared airfields.
Okay, thanks for the fast reply :)
Is that Radio Menu new or a mod?
+White Eagle You mean the text you see at 17:13?
If yes, than sorry, no that is neither a mod nor new. I just don't have the actual radio menu visible in the recording, so I created that text in post-recording edditing, to allow you guys to see the keypresses.
+xxJohnxx Ah right, it looks nice. Much easier to see than the one in game.
+White Eagle Yeah indeed :P

Ahhh, die Anleitung! Ausgezeichnet. Servus!
Ich weiß wirklich nicht ob ich die L-39 kaufen soll. Würdest du mir den Vogel empfehlen als trainer ?

GT Racers
Ja das auf jeden Fall. Kommt auch darauf an was man den selber so mag. ;)
