When I see this video, all the shivers come back to life for me. For me this was a first concert by Jean Michel Jarre I was there. It normally started around 9 p.m. in the evening and we were already there on the square from 4 a.m. in the morning. For me it was the square of Versailles. What a wonderful memory!! grateful I could experience this. Thank you Jean Michel for all those beautiful concerts.
Docklands was my first time with his music - Listening to the show on scratchy FM Radio One at the time... This tour was when I got to see him live in the UK at Manchester - Maine Road as it was then...
I wanted to check it out and see what can be done, but the original barcelona video source is not so great with fake letterboxed widescreen. And besides that, I just don't like the way they edited it, the crazy camera changes and jumps in some of the songs give me headache. Seville was edited far nicer and the view is better since it's not letterboxed.
In addition to my previous comment, since I do have the low-res broadcast transfer, I might run it through AI and see what happens. With any luck, it might look similar to the latest PLD video I posted.
@@happyvibes4575 that would be very interesting to see. I watched the Cam of the Barcelona gig the other day, very interesting to see. I didnt know they did both Mag 2 and Chrono 2 as an encore and looking back at the VHS they used footage from both the original run and the encore for Chrono 2, including the firework finale. Can't believe they went to the trouble of editing the band intros out of Chrono 8, it is literally part of the track.
@@chrisdeburghconcertvids5222 It's a shame most of older Jarre's videos were always cut or edited badly. Btw I quickly tested a few settings on the Barcelona source I have and ran it through AI preview. The closeup shots look very nice and detailed, but faraway scenes become mangled here and there... I guess it's worth putting it up anyways. Should be ready in 20 hours.

The thing works for real. it is called "Le grand clavier maître" By Lag. @ Jmj concerts, not all parts he do are live played, depends of the complexion and risk. In those days there was a analog 24 track, backing tape. They could choose which part was track or live. or 50/50. They are Backup for eachother tape/stage. These days its a bit the same but I notice more backing track and live mixed togheter like for the laserharp. If he misses you still hear the backingtrack. when he hits Its a bit more powerfull.
The picture quality is excellent, but the sound quality is very bad - the soundtrack is taken from another concert, and in some parts it seems as if the players are playing on playback and do not know what they are playing.
The worst playback performance one can imagine. Even an amateur can see the lack of synchronization between the sound and what is visible on the screen (pressing the keys), and that terrible ending where the sound engineer briefly provides the real sound from the instruments...
I synchronised the sound from other EIC tour performances, just like I mentioned in the description. The original TV sound was extremely low quality, but you can find it on youtube as well. So maybe you can pay attention next time.

I've seen this show in Versailles. But this is a very good version of my memories upon it! Thanx for sharing :)
One of the best concerts in the history of the music!
Recorded track are played
Quite simply, the man is a genius.
Does he play the instruments live as some times it don't look like it. Still love watching him and love the music.
Lead keyboard isn't live, I think. Some other layers either. Id say about half of the sounds are live? Such as drums , bass, etc.
Brilliant work, the quality of some shots is amazing considering the original source. Have you ever done a remaster of the Barcelona video ?

What is Jarre trying to say by this, I'm a little bit confused? Is this a commentary on consumerism and what all sorts of thing do some people buy?

It was the original bootleg dvd. I used Topaz AI enhancer with manual proteus settings, sony vegas and virtual dub's delogo plugin.
Don't be confused because I'm replying from another channel

Did Jarre's keyboard work or was he just playing for the crowd whilst the chaps behind did the work 😁😁

Love the music , hate the miming. I would love concert with enough musicians to make it more "live". Hasn't put me off, though.
What are you doing you look at Paris 1990 the best concert ever with much more action 😊😊😊
