    Is this ship still under the direct control of His Majesties Royal Navy? It is still manned by British Royal Navy sailor's and officers? If so, HMS Victory is the oldest navy ship, not the USS Constitution.

      Yes, HMS Victory is still listed as an active, commissioned Royal Navy warship.

      She dont float is in permanent drydock the constitution is still in the water so she is the oldest

      Yes it is one of the oldest and the second biggest in the world.

    You SHOULD watch the BBC "Timewatch" programme on 'Nelson's Navy.' As usual far too much emphasis on 'flogging', and little said on moral, commaraderie, training and even food. Conditions on these ships was FAR BETTER than many enjoyed ashore! Hence plenty of (to the Navy) useless landmen applied for berths!!
