what a great 4 days in the field I enjoyed every minute of it your lads are hard-working lad I made silage but I used a buck rack & concrete floor as the silage pit was cut to a bank we would buck rack it in until it was rolled level with the bank, top then fill it in from the bank until it was level by gum it made god silage .we would stack bedding bales on the top for compression after it had stopped heating up. thanks for the opatunity to whach Les England.

I packed silage for a guy in Jonesboro Tennessee in the 1970s. He had dug a hole about 12 feet deep and it was about 25 feet out. It was ten feet across. It widened out to about 15feet across at the top. I packed down every load until it got 3 feet above ground. The tractor could have slipped and turned over so I quit and went home.

@@McGieHomesteadAdventures waiting to see what you did today. When I did finally go to sleep kids woke me up 15 mins before school. It's a 15 min drive to town. Talk about panic. But I was dreaming of duck and goose hunting. X uncle was making grandma mad he expected her to clean all the game and she was to old and tired so I told her I had to do mine I'd clean his too so she didn't have to. (She is actually passed a few years back) but some of the best hunting memories on those farms.
