- Taken during a quarter attempt of Cambridge Surprise Major at St James, Garlickhythe on the 28th December 2024.
Sadly unsuccessful within the last course, despite best efforts.
The bells are a joy to ring and had forgotten how lovely they are until returning here on Saturday. The Royal Jubilee bells are hung above an intermediate floor where the ropes are drawn. The church is a something of ornateness and beauty; he last time I visited was after a St Paul's Cathedral Christmas mass.
For those interested:
Phone camera sound - taken from intermediate level.
Phone camera - belfry
DJI camera - belfry.
Sound from both phones combined.
Very nice video!
These are the epitome of what Whitechapel do so well, producing bright light 8s, what I would call a joyous wedding bells ring.
My late father Ernest J Rowe was a former bell hanger at Whitechapel, who along with Bill Theobald hung St Mary le Bow.
Dad had a great saying
Whitechapel for trebles, Taylors for Tenors and I think he is right.
We all realise what magnificent heavy metal that Taylor are famous for.
Gorgeous little 8. Pretty but with guts too.
I guess the 2 bells with the blue yokes are sharps correct?
In this case the different colours of the headstocks has no significance - there are no semitones or extra bells as part of the ringing peal. The blue one to the left of the main shot is the 6 (in C). The other in the distance of the second shot is the 2 (in G)
@francescogreenslade7793 Ah ok.
