Xue Rengui was a famous general of the Tang Dynasty. In December 659, he defeated the Khitan at Heishan with Xin Wenling, captured the Khitan King Abgu and other leaders, and escorted them to Luoyang, the eastern capital. He was promoted to General of the Left Guard for his merits. In 662, he captured the three brothers of the Pseudo-Yehu, the leaders of the nine Tiele tribes. In 668, he joined forces with Li Yu's army outside the capital of Goguryeo, Pyongyang. Goguryeo surrendered. But in 670, he was defeated by the Tibetan army.

I think that’s an in correct Wong(王). That Wong means emperor or king. Anyone using that character as their surname is punishable by death at that time of that history. I still love this channel. I subscribed.

I also learnt it as 薛平贵 (Hsueh Ping Kuei in the Wade-Giles system) when I was in Primary school 60 + years ago. The text was Lady Precious Stream.
She was staying in a cave home waiting for her husband’s return.
There is a song about Wang Bao Chuan, how her husband riding a horse, rushing home to see her.
