The only thing I dislike about the video for "While We Sleep" is that it's missing its awesome intro "The Primeval Dark". Could someone please reunite them?
This song and the whole album Winter's Gate is like being in the middle of a huge avalanche just waiting for the impact and the energy and the power is the avalanche and the calm and harmonies are the acceptance of that avalanche taking you away. Just love it.
Not sure if you know who Johanna Kurkela is but besides being a popular Finnish singer she is also Tuomas Holopainen's (Nightwish) wife. I love her atmospheric vocals here. She has this beautiful ethereal voice, like a woodland fairy. She has collaborated with her husband on his side project, The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck. Checkout the song A Lifetine of Adventure. ruclips.net/video/JWwSVOo5K_k/видео.html. The graphic novels of the same name by Don Rosa are hugely popular in Finland and Tuomas wrote teh album as a soundtrack to the novels. Tuoma, Johanna, and Troy from Nightwish also have a side project called Auri. Folky atmospheric music. My favorites are Desert Flower, The Space Between, and The Valley.
Another projects Johanna has been involved with is Altamullan Road. One of my favorites is When It's Time, a beautiful song about an elderly person who has just lost their lifelong partner, celebrating their life together and hoping to see them when it's their turn to die. ruclips.net/video/PBeCoAOP5d0/видео.html. A second project that Johanna has been involved with is Eye of Melian. It was started by Martijn Westerholt, founder and keyboardist of the Dutch symphonic metal band Delain, as an outlet for lush orchestral fantasy music, much of it inspired by Tolkien (Martijn's wife is a literature professor specializing in Tolkien). The whole album is beautiful but some favorites are The Bell, Vita Nova, and Light.
She founded the studio project Auri with Tuomas and Troy from Nightwish and released two LPs: AURI - The Space Between (OFFICIAL LYRIC VIDEO) I don't know of any live concerts by them.
That geographical area in North Karelia in Finland is interesting, because the bands Nightwish (1996) and Insomnium (1997) were born only 60 kilometers apart. And the nature you see in the video is North Karelia. Insomnium uses the nature of North Karelia in many videos. This song is from the band's latest album Anno 1696 and this album is also based on a novel written by bassist Niilo Sevänen. In the book, the events take place in Finland during the years 1696-97. Insomnium has been called "Finland's most academic metal band". Niilo Sevänen (bass) has a master's degree in philosophy, Ville Friman (guitar) has a doctorate in biology and Markus Hirvonen (drummer) has a master's degree in engineering. Former guitarist Ville Vänni has a licentiate in medicine and works as a surgeon.
Insomnium is one of the bands which don't yet get all the attention they deserve. But when one hears them, their music usually does its magic. I quess not all enjoy the doomish/deathish sound, but those who do, get immedistely hooked. This song is just ❤ "With Anno 1696, Insomnium takes us into a world of sadness and the last crumbling remnants of hope, to the anger and morbid lullabies. This is a time of unrest. The witch-hunt is in full swing across Europe and horrific witch trials have even reached the remote and majestic landscapes of Finland and Sweden. Welcome to 1696. Welcome to hell."
One that doesn't get mentioned much if at all, yet to me, is truly one of their best 'mental journey' songs is The Lay of Autumn. I think you will appreciate that one. I dig your format, not stopping the song to comment helps keep the immersion and doesn't break first impressions.
Thank you for doing this. I really appreciate it. The album Anno 1696 is such a journey. If you have time in your busy schedule, put the headphones on and sit back and enjoy that Album. Great story, excellent music. Also Winters Tale is brilliant record. Another band I think you would enjoy is Vintersea. Try Lonesome Tide or At the Gloaming Void from their latest album.
I'm so glad i found your channel. Great to see your reactions to Insomnium, Amorphis and Wintersun. I would recommend (like everyone else) to listen While we sleep from insomnium and also Lilian. If you like folk metal i also recommend band called Ensiferum from finland with songs like Rum women victory, Andromeda, For sirens, The Defence of the Sampo.
Lay of Autumn, The River, Song of the blackest bird, there are too many. Just dig album after album. They are great, talented, intelligent guys and i love them.
'Lilian' is my favorite song by Insomium! If you've not heard that one yet, you should check it out! Also, here is something random that I was listening to a little while ago. 'Hellraiser' by Jiluka. They're from Japan. So many bands from there are just fun. Dir en grey would be my favorite J-rock/metal band, though - they're very far reaching on what type of genre, but they've enjoyed a heavier sound for a long while now. Anyway, in case you ever want to begin that journey into the metal and rock scene of j-rock; that's a good song to start with. As for Dir en grey, I would say 'Vinushka', is one of my favorites, but there's so many more that I could rattle off... XD Also, for Dir en grey, a lot of their videos are pretty fucking ... fucked up. As a warning.
Lilian is indeed one of the best songs from their new album Anno 1696, but i still prefer the Argent Moon EP, and Heart Like a Grave Album. Give it a listen if you didn't already. 🤘
Thank you for listening this Finnish Band, but we have lots of good ,check Kalmah ,Ensiferum,Children of Bodom,Sonata Arctica,Stratovarius,HIM / Ville Valo,The69Eyes.....and its only few of bands.
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody i,m heavy music man and seen live conserts 3 best heavy bands Black Sabbath, Dio and Judas Priest.I am happy for it and music lives in RUclips forever.

Insomnium is an underrated band, and not often reacted to... so happy you're bring attention to them!

The best known song of Insomnium and very good is "While we Sleep"

@@TheWolffAndTheMelody Insomnium is such a breath of fresh air I love them so much
Every time someone tries to tell me that death metal is just noise and screaming, I show them Insomnium.
Love Insomnium. Your next step probably should be "While we Sleep".
I got you❤
You can’t go wrong with any Insomnium tune. Black Heart Rebellion is a really good one. Ending has an emotional melody that’s so smooth.
I do have some more Insomnium coming.

I used to be very closed minded to alot of bands. I had a few I liked, and thats all I cared about. So I changed that and dont want to be closed off.
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody Well then welcome to the other side 😁
Love the band but the vocalist is just so monotonic. All sounds the same. But I like his sound.
I can see that a little bit, but I feel a pain in his vpice that makes it feel more than just screaming to me
