@@jasonjuggler3457 it's going good thanks it should be done by next weekend I'll make an update video soon. Looking forward to getting stuck into the evo
I know how frustrating working on a car can be, I am now well past retirement, and my working on cars is past and gone, but I do enjoy watching you work, keep it up lad your doing a fine job.
Anything with the dashboard strikes absolute fear into me! Its so bad that I delayed installing a new stereo when I got my new car because I really couldn't be arsed with running a wire from the dash to the fuse box! SO massive hats off to you!
I've done about 7 of these, first tips are under dash undo the red and green cable from that's attached to the heater control that was as it gives movement the way you did it. Otherwise it's a nightmare and you will end up breaking it. Also you can just pop off the stalks behind the wheel, don't need to take off the whole unit.
wow.. good job. I will start to replace evaporator and this video I will share to local service station, how difficult to dismantled dashboard in ford fiesta 2012. I hope going well. tks bro.
Steve I messaged you loads of tips for this weeks ago, you airbag module u got with the dash should reset it, make sure u change all the front SEATBELTS. Module and airbags plugged in, even the airbag light below the stereo Also in the bonnet catch there's a sensor. This should reset with the new module. If not be £60 for a mobile diagnostic to come out and reset your old one
Fair play to you for taking on a job like replacing the dash board. I doubt after this you'll take in one with all the air bags gone again though 😂 That's why they generally write them off once the dash is ruined.
Yes, the module likely needs to be 're-written' or replaced. Many cars modules cannot be re-written so need replacing. Also once you turn the key on with a faulty or disconnected item in the airbag system the module logs a fault and needs to be cleared with a scan tool capable of accessing the srs system. Some cars self test and the light goes out if all plugged in and are good etc but the code is often still logged in the module history logs. Depends on the make of car. I did a Holden Barina late last year and replaced right curtain airbag, both seat belts and both pretensioners and drivers seat (seat side airbag had gone off) and was lucky the module self tested and light went off and didn't need replacing...saved me around nzd $900 for a module
Exactly what I was going to say. I replaced the knee airbag and broken crash sensor on my Mustang, got the computer reset, and the airbag light came back on. Ended up the seat belt pretensioner was blown too, even though the seat belt still worked. Once I got the belt rebuilt, I had to have a shop reset the computer again with his Ford scanner. That took care of it! Good luck Steve! I enjoy your videos!
I’ve replaced many of dashes now, I can have them in and out in an hour but they don’t get easier, hardest things are putting them heater pipes back in place around the bluk bar thing, and the heater controls absolutely awful job
hello following a crack before fiesta 6 there were three output airbags so I changed all three with the airbag computer. I can't find the airbag sensors on the front of the car. I would like to know how we can find them thank you
hello thank you for sharing, I just want to ask you if it is possible to remove the heater matrix without takinh out the whole dash ?(mine is leaking and need to be replaced) thank you
Can U tell me how much is the wieght of the Dashboard, the Radio and this stuff. Like to know if its good to put all out for the track. Greetings from Germany. Thank U for your great and interestig vids!!!
@@Sparkplugsteve Any advice on actually getting that unit out? Seems like there is a lot of resistance and i cant even get the unit out enough to fit my finger behind it
Hi did you leave original airbag module in the car or fit the one from the car you got the new dash out of have you had any luck resetting it I’m doing the same job now thanks
How easy was taking off the steering wheel and stalk column Steve? Any gotchyas? I have a limp indicator which drains the battery so have a replacement column set with steering angle sensor, but never got round to fitting! Cheers!
How did you put those metal wire things back into the heater control panel? The parts where you were confused on how to get them out, I fucked with mine and cat get them back in
If it was me replacing the dash, the buttons would be doing other things. Such as the radio volume adjusting the temperature, the windscreen wiper sounding the horn and the indicators changing the radio station.
When you run into a brick wall (so to speak) when trying to do something you are stuck on, have a cuppa or even a bottle of water... Get you head back in the right place... A Haynes manual helps loads. 😁
Been waiting for this one Steve ladddd! But one question champ did you not think to get the Haynes manual? Even for the mk7 none ST the dash should be pretty much the same?
I'd recommended getting your dealer to apply the vehicles original asbuilt data to the airbag module. This controls how the airbags fire etc. I've seen variations in the data between years. So you want it match or you could experience some undesired results.
id much prefer crawling on my back and work underneath the car than attempt any kind of interior work. Interior work sucks, fair play for sticking it out steve nice job.
You won't believe how your problem with the seat belts sensor at the end of the video was easy to solve , only thight the bolt of the sensor plug under the seat. I had remove the seats of mine alot so that's happened to me ..
If a car is in an accident nowadays...if its serious or not they blow as many airbags as possible...this makes the cost of a repair for insurance mega high.. manufactures dont want em fixed.... they want a new replacement sold.... safety now is an excuse to sell more cars... people are clueless if they think airbags are gonna save em in a crash.. How much for three airbags ? rant over...:) Total respect steve for givin it a go.. N x
I hope that you can remember where everything goes keep all clips and bit that are salvageable until you have put the new dashboard in fir play to you you’ve done well todo that on you own
there is Steve ripping the dash out and im like nah i will just live with a leaking screen wash as it sounds like too much messing about removing a bumper lol

That sensor is used for the auto dimming of the interior dash lights. Light sensor. ST3 temp sensor is behind the display screen.
It's also the sun load sensor ford Fiesta's with Climate Control which this one doesn't have so he can probably live without it.

Change the airbag ecu as it will has crash data on it making the light stay on.
Yes changed that. Its drivers seat belt causing the problem. It needs changing.
