.opinel garden folding knife. - bushcraft usablity

just showing you the latest knife i got, it is the OPINEL GARDEN FOLDING KNIFE...and the modifications i did to it. aswell you get to see some easy carving and the kydex-sheath i made for it! have fun....
by the way, in the beginning i find some feathers again... of a bird that was quite surely taken by some other bird of prey...love those nature riddles...

Nice vid. Been using Opinel for as long as I remember but that kydex carry system is a good idea.

I much prefer the Garden knife blade to the original clip point as well. I do not like the Garden knife handle. I removed the blade from the Garden knife and attached it to the Opinel Luxe olive wood handle from another knife and now have the best of both worlds. The thicker spear point blade with the original style handle in olive wood. The blade channel in the original style handle needs to be chipped out a bit to accommodate the spear point blade pattern but this was easy and quick enough to do. Now it is a perfect bushcrafter with a slightly more robust blade and less of a delicate tip than the Opinel clip point blade and much more user friendly. I once bent the tip on an Opinel clip point blade and have not cared as much for the clip pattern blade since. I only wish Opinel would have more of a selection with blade patterns. I thought they had something with the Opinel 12 Outdoor model (*ONLY the different blade pattern, not the knife as designed), but the large size of that knife is impractical, and the knife is only offered with a serrated blade (of limited use anyway, and not appropriate with bushcraft cutting and notching techniques). Please Opinel, evolve like Buck and give us a decent drop-point.

Opinel does make a size 12 saw--most 12s have the carbon or stainless clip point
