Here's a very important question: why would anyone (realistically) need ice to not melt for 30 hours in a travel mug? I appreciate the science behind it. But in 10 hour work day in 102 heat in Texas, I just need it to last the day and RTIC does just that. Even as I fill it up through out the day.
I have had the same question and I even mentioned that in one of my comparisons. Someone commented and told me that they frequently go on kayaking trips or adventures which sometimes last three days. On these trips, all they have to eat and drink is what they pack and they pack very light. They pack some ice in a cooler but they use it sparingly so the longer their tumbler could hold ice the better. Makes sense to me, though I don't go on trips where I don't have access to ice and drink whenever I want it, I understand where this could be beneficial. Thanks for watching
Great review. I have 1 of each tumbler. They both preform about the same. They both hold ice for periods beyond my needs. The RTIC products are about half the price so unless you want a stupid sticker to put on your truck so everyone knows you have a YETI cup or cooler then get the RTIC. But mabye you like spending too much money.
Great comparison between the two tumblers, it would've been perfect if you could've taken a temperature reading between the two at the end of the test not that it was needed but just the cherry on top.
RTIC did have fantastic support. I don't see how the ice would behave different between brands as the ice is sitting in stainless steel. Maybe the amount of insulation is the key in difference between brands. the only difference I see is cost. Walmart has 24oz Bubba stainless steel tumbler for under $14. I have it and the 20oz RTIC (paid $15) and both perform the very same. The only difference is price. If your buying Yeti, you're throwing away money.
Most I have got in a plain ice test was 28 hours. That said, even just adding a couple chunks of ice through the day isn't bad to me. I tend to leave mine in a hot car a lot. I drink it faster than the ice melts. I refill 2-3X through the day.

These tumblers are vacuum insulated and maybe your defective cup had a leak that allowed air in or allowed the vacuum insulation to be lost which is why it had sweat on the outside since it wasn't insulated at all.
I liked your video would you be willing to try a third test?........while taking this into account.....First because of the position of the tumblers in relation to the overhead light, and to the short distance separating each other. The counter needs cleared and the tumblers separated at least a foot apart and directly under the light source and moving them further away from the wall. The Yeti was positioned to receive the full brunt of the heat and the other tumbler was sitting in Yeti's shadow therefore giving protection to RTIC from the heat. The other thing factoring in - is.....how many hands touched each tumbler, for how long and how many times? Each time a hand grabbed a tumbler to check on the contents, the very warm human body temp gave a shot of heat to the tumbler .....was all that touching regulated and monitored and equal per family member? I don't mean to come across as obsessive compulsive.........its just that you chose to do an experiment and did not execute it properly; so the results are not as accurate as they could be. For me, I would place the tumblers in a dark room, placed at least a foot apart, and not enter that room but once a day and for as short of time as possible. The temperature of the room does not necessarily matter as the room temp affects both tumblers equally...unless you place one closer to the register/vent.

If you're doing a comparison like I did where the tumblers are in a controlled environment, not adding liquid or drink of any kind and they're not getting moved around a lot then your results are low in comparison to what results most are getting. If you're getting 12 to 18 hours while using the tumblers with a drink in them and they are with you wherever you go then your results sound pretty good. The defective tumbler that I had before was forming condensation on the outside after only about ten minutes. If you would like to see a comparison where I'm using the tumblers with drink and not in a controlled environment then I could do that.

I purchased an RTIC 30 oz.. in Jan. that was defective like your first one. I contacted RTIC and they wanted pictures and a lot of other stuff. Very poor customer service. I just use my wife's YETI now and will buy another one soon. Never again would I buy an RTIC!!

Yes, I have a 20 ounce YETI that I use for hot coffee. That's the only one that I can comment on right now but it does keep coffee hot for a good while. I have a 20 ounce RecPro tumbler but I haven't tried it yet, I will be comparing those two tumblers soon. I will also compare the 20 ounce RTIC. That sounds like the results that I had from my first RTIC. That RTIC was defective but the new RTIC tumbler does last that long. If you're not satisfied with your tumbler you may want to email RTIC to speak with them about it. Their customer service was outstanding when I dealt with them.
idc what people say, yeti came out first and their name is bigger than all the knock offs out there. so therefore, I'm sticking with my yeti. it may not hold ice as long, but it holds ice long enough to satisfy my needs
Actually the owner of Rtic was the inventor of the Yeti products but his partner boned him over so he left and took what is rightfully his, the designs, and created Rtic. And he has a better business because he doesnt screw the customer over for simply the name.

Great comparison but my drinks only last 20-30 minutes so the Rtic is the better deal anyway Yetti is way overpriced to bad.
