Beautifully sung, and with total admiration from us all who heard you here! Hopefully, when cultural life goes back to normal, you will be performing at our Opernhaus in Vienna.
Hi Lucas: I've been a subscriber for a while but haven't really commented until now. Thank you for sharing this selection. It was imersive, emotional, and beautiful. I also really love your wife, Irina's, piano playing; it meshes so well with your singing and it is obvious to the listener that you both are one, together, in the experience, her playing complimenting your gorgeous baritone. Although I never had the desire to pursue music professionally, I studied classical music for over two decades; I'm a Coloratura soprano. German is one of my favorite languages, and had my vocal coaches allowed it, I would have sung in nothing else. I'm not fluent in German, though I know how to read it. Also, German commands to my working dog sound like harsh gargles to the average American. ::Snicker:: Again, thank you for this. I hope you and your family are safe during this still uncertain time. Take care.
Bravi, Maestro! This is one of my favorite arias to sing and you master it so beautifully! I just performed it ten days ago for the first time and it was a huge success! I actually sang it at about half the speed, much slower. Keep up the great work!
Listen to Lawrence Tibbett's 1934 RCA Victor Red Seal 78 to hear how masterfully this great American bass-baritone sings mezza-voce and phrases elegantly.
That’s hilarious that you say dumpling. It’s actually a fair hearing of what’s going on in there. I liken it to a potato in there. It gives the voice the lift needed to get into the mask while allowing the larynx to drop naturally like a yawn. The result is a long and deeply connected column of air/sound with depth as well as height.
@@xTwistedFleshX No, it's a long-identified vocal flaw that hack singers use to inflate their perceived depth of sound. It makes the singing quieter and messes up the vibrato, all of which can be heard here.
In one of the videos of your reaction to Hvorostovsky, you said that after hearing him you thought you would never sing again 😊 What I hear in this video is different from Hvorostovsky. But it is clear, strong and impressive. Keep singing!
German pronunciation needs work. As an 18 year old American, I had better command of the words in this aria.. Also too pushed. Tone uneven, and legato is somewhere other than here.
Awesome performance
Amazing!!!! Bravo!!!!💐
Pure bliss listening to this, thank you!!
Heartfelt and beautiful 🎶
Beautifully done!
Beautiful! Thank you, Lucas!

My favorite of Wagner. Bravo.

Thank you for your kind words and I wish you the best too. German Romantic music has that special place in heart too.

@@LucasMeachem1 I'm trying lately to try and achieve a better piano on the high-notes, as a Bass-Baritone i find it very difficult 🤷🏻♂️😂
@@harrisbajraktari9454 oooof it takes a lifetime
No doubt hahah !!⚡

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏.
Very good German!
I don´t understant, why its sounds like a dumpling in the throat? Is that operatic mask? I really would like to know that.

Because he's singing wrong.

Thank you! I appreciate it very much.
I appreciate your performance!
Your voice reminds me Dmitry Hvorostovsky in this aria. I
2:52 to 3:00 🤔🤔....no comment
I am missing the flow of the voice, the legato. He is running out of breath, the articulation much to stressed.

Sein Deutsch ist ziemlich perfekt.
Fake mezza voce.
