I'd recommend the Gremlins and its sequel, Stand By Me, the Lost Boys, the Karate Kid, the Outsiders, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and the Breakfast Club. All those are great 80's "kids" movies. Not all are comedies, but all are really good.
You should watch The Princess Bride. Great cast, full of humor, adventure, romance, action, and suspense. And also, haven't finished watching the reaction yet, but not only is Sean Astin (Samwise Gamgee) in The Goonies, but Brand, the older brother, is Josh Brolin, who played Thanos in the Marvel Avengers movies Cable in Deadpool 2. Mouth is Corey Feldman - another of his films that I might recommend is The Lost Boys - a vampire film.
Andrew Paxton fun fact about the Princess Bride. Andre the Giant had to get around the filming area with 4 wheeler ATV. Andre let Cary ride the ATV and he broke his toe on it.
"this is sad, kids just don't do this anymore." tell me about it. this was my childhood. going on adventures with my friends all day during the summer, when our bikes were like our cars and we only went inside to eat or go to the bathroom. I love this movie so much, it's the epitome of nostalgia for me ❤️
Breakfast Club and The Princess Bride are absolute 80's musts. The Princess Bride in my opinion is a film that along with The Goonies EVERY child should watch.
If you love 'coming of age' movies like this one, Stand By Me is incredible. Whenever asked, I always say it's my favorite movie of all time. I'd be surprised if you didn't love it
classic movies you have to see . The Lost Boys , Ferris Bueller, The Princess Bride. Weird Science, The Breakfast Club, Stand By Me, Neverending Story , The Crow, Willow Superman 1and 2 Batman 89,, just to name a few
people back then in 80's didnt questioned reasons why, or how goonies did this and that. people just enjoyed this entertaining adventurous funny movie. can believe you cut part where Chunk tortured the Fratellis with his bizarre stories while he was tortured by them. the best lines in the movie
I saw this movie in the theater when I was an early teen... I still remember the truffle shuffle dubbed dialog (since I watched it in French)! It is a stupid/funny movie that people of all ages could appreciate; you just have to be in the right mindset. And Sean Astin is super cute AND super good in it!
Things to watch: - Breakfast Club - Ferris Bueller’s Day Off - Top Gun - Star Wars Original Trilogy - Star Wars Prequel - Friends (TV SHOW) - Pulp Fiction - Dazed and Confused - National Lampoon Vacation Movies - Indiana Jones Movies - How I Met Your Mother (TV SHOW) - Superman 1 and 2 - Batman 1989, Returns, Forever, and Robin - Dark Knight Trilogy - Catch Me if You Can - Family Ties (TV SHOW) - Good Will Hunting - Jamunji - Gattacca
*Fun fact* The kids reaction to seeing the pirate ship for the first time was for real! At that time, they weren't allowed to go on set and see the ship during its construction. So the director Richard Donner decided to actually surprise them on camera and get their genuine reactions in the movie. However, on the first take, the kids overreacted and cursed in excitement. So a second take had to be made.
When my 17 year old son was about 10 or 11, I played this for him, and it became his favorite movie for a few years. He loved it. I've been to Astoria, Oregon, where the movie was filmed. Got to see the jailhouse, Mikey's house, and a few other locations. It was fun, and it all still looks the same.
They have a local Goonies holiday there... tours are given, the film is played on a screen outside in the park or something, and cast members have made appearances.
You should watch ‘Firestarter’ starring a young Drew Barrymore and ‘The Burbs’ with Tom Hanks. Great films. Goonies is great! Love seeing Thanos on a girls’ bike. 😂
The 'burbs! one of my all time favourites, I was going to mention it myself. It's so quotable. Of course we see Corey Feldman again, a little bit older as a teenager.
When I watched this as a kid, my friends and I spent most of our time looking in our attic to see if we can find treasure maps. In the end all we had was sparkled cleaned attics.
If you are looking for classic 80s kids movies, you should check out “the never ending story” (just the first one, the sequel was trash), “Willow” and “Labyrinth”.
another thing this shows is what kids used to do back then 80's and 90's were all about goin outside and havin fun playin with other kids, I mean goin on a huge adventure like this is a bit over the top but kids used to do things like go into the woods, build forts, do random stuff, etc. that doesnt' happen anymore cuz everyone is inside on their digital devices
Fun fact: The pirate ship (The Inferno) was a real set. They build the cave, the ship and filled it with water on a sound stage. And the kids weren't allowed to see it until filming started so they would be properly surprised. There are some really cool shots of them building it out there.
You have to see LEGEND ... it was made in the 80’s and has a young Tom Cruise . It’s a very mystical adventure with good and evil battling for the fate of the world
The water slide does look like fun! On the DVD commentary that got all the kids back together as adults, they said how after the kids were done filming for the day and went home, the crew hung around for hours afterward just riding the slides for fun. Also, they dyed the water in that scene to give it that blue-green color, and they said that the dye caused blue boogers for days for all the kids.
Have you seen Gremlins? The Muppet Movie? The Great Muppet Caper? Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Labyrinth? Little Shop of Horrors (1986)? The Dark Crystal? Those are my suggestions.
I LOVE this movie and If you love the character of Mouth, then you'll LOVE the 80s classic Stand By Me it's so freaking hilarious! By the way my sister's grandma looked and behaved like Mrs. Fertelli...she was SO awful that my sister went to a concert instead of her gma's wake when she died LOL 😂
Alien, Aliens, First Blood, the original Red Dawn, Ferris Beullers Day Off, The Princess Bride, The Neverending Story, The Usual Suspects, Predator, Fletch, Black Sheep, Tommy Boy, Leon the Professional, Ronin, The Crow, V for Vendetta, Unforgiven, Hot Fuzz, Disturbia, The 13th Warrior, Super Troopers, Groundhog Day, Brainscan, Open Range, etc Could go on for days! So many great older movies out there.
The actor who plays Sloth is John Matuszak, he was a former NFL player who played for The Houston Oilers, Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Redskins, and The Oakland/Las Angeles Raiders whom he won two Super Bowls with. He unfortunately died June 17, 1989 as a result of acute propoxyphene intoxication, an accidental overdose of the prescription drug Darvocet at only the age of 38. One of the films he had a role in which you should definitely watch is the movie The Ice Pirates (1984). It's a really fun film in my opinion
I am almost 47. This was in my earliest teen years. I can still repeat every line in this movie! Data said" Holy S-H-I-T Mikey! He was only allowed to do the movie if he didn't say "bad words" so he spelled it. It was so great with the imagination and adventure. You kids wouldn't understand today. Being a piano player, I shuddered when she said she couldn't tell if it was a A# or a B flat. They are the same note!!!!
okay so fun facts: astoria, oregon is a real town and a lot of the movie was filmed there. they've pretty much turned astoria into goonies-ville - i've visited it a couple of times and it's a super cute place. there's little homages to the movie all over town; wanted posters for the fratellis just randomly hanging in store windows, the building where they filmed the jail scene at the beginning has been turned into a little museum (with the actual jeep ORV with the bullet holes in the parking lot). the people who own the house used as mikey & brand's have gotten really tired of people trying to come up and take pictures over the years so they have a sign at the base of the driveway telling folks to stay the hell away, ha. and yes i agree with everyone advising you to watch the princess bride!! also willow :)
One of my favorite movies as a kid, and I still enjoy watching it. Your reaction was great! An additional treat is on the DVD or Blu-ray, there's a video commentary with the kids all grown up watching along with you and talking about the experience of making the movie.
The main love interest makes me want to watch "big girls don't cry, they get even." It was originally called "step family" guessing they had legal problems. It starts out with a description of her family back when complicated was just becoming a thing. Her description of her dad was interested and he really grows over the movie but starts out as "He's 40, looks like he's 30, thinks like he's 20 and acts like he's 10. He's fun to play board games with." Favorite line is "
Fun 80s kids movies: The Neverending Story, Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, Return to Oz, E.T. and Gremlins all have great practical special effects from the days before everything was CGI.
I'm nearing 50 and I own the DVD. The secret is, they don't tackle any areas, they just made good movies. Not only the 80's made good movies, but finding the older ones is difficult. How do you find something if you don't even know it exists. In recent years I started to buy the original when a remake made it to the big screen and haven't been disappointed yet. If you want to laugh for nearly 3 and a half hours? Watch 'It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World' (1963) or over 2 and a half hours 'The Great Race' (1965). The second one has the biggest cake fight in movie history.
Good picks. Besides those, I would add The Last Starfighter Battle Beyond the Stars Megaforce The Black Hole Romancing the Stone The Jewel of the Nile Condorman
In the 80s category, i recommend: Adventures in Babysitting , Three Men and a Baby, Lost Boys , License to Drive , Summer School 😉 some of my all-time favs
cant believe people have not seen all these 80s films im so happy i lived through the 80s and saw them all 1st hand, it was the best time of my life., your right kids dont do that anymore, But i did and i loved it. we were the goonies
Must See 80's films: Princess Bride, Willow, The Lost Boys, Clue, ET, Explorers, Flight of the Navigator, D.A.R.Y.L, and my favorite hidden gem is My Chauffeur.
In this movie the Goonies, Brandon is Josh Brolin, who played Thanos, in case it was not mentioned yet. Good video! You should see Midnight Madness, The Frisco Kid, or Spaceballs. Those are some good ones.
If you want to try, I highly suggest “That Thing You Do!” They just had a live cast reaction to the movie and it was so great. Grew up watching it and quote it ALL the time.
I will always champion this movie. It's one of those movies that a lot of people have never heard of, and I will always insist that people watch it. Also: Tom Hanks's directorial debut.
Josh Brolin, who played Bran (the older sibling) in Goonies plays Thanos and Cable. And if you don't know who those characters are, hopefully you will one day (Thanos - Infinity War, End Game; Cable - Deadpool 2).
One of my favorite movies. It's adventurous enough for adults but I loved it as a kid. Talented actors as well...Sean Astin, Josh Brolin. Chunk is a successful attorney.
People born in 90s: we heard the legends from the 80s, about great movies that were original stories and that you'd enjoy for your entire life Me: It's true. All of it.
im 05 and this movie is a classic for me and same for bttf 1, 2, 3, and i just started watching these classics and im so happy i didnt miss out on these masterpieces.
So glad I got to grow up like this. Kids outside playing and running/biking all around. Getting into trouble but nothing serious. Kids really miss out today. Glad electronics were not an everyday facet of life back then. Life was more imaginative, even more so growing up poor.
You want classic/new classic movies to watch? Here you go: Superman Superman II Rocky Rocky II Rocky III Rocky IV Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan Star Trek III: The Search For Spock Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home Gremlins Gremlins 2 Stand By Me Animal House Caddyshack Airplane! Confidenfial That Thing You Do Lean On Me Stand and Deliver Toy Soldiers High Fidelity Jurassic Park My Cousin Vinny Boogie Nights Oops...sorry, I got carried away...but every one of those movies are movies I consider classics of the 80's and 90's (A sprinkling of 60's, 70's, and 2000's too) and wonderful to watch and rewatch!
Good movies worth watching that you probably haven't even heard of Private Eyes - Tim Conway and Don Knots Father Goose - Cary Grant and Leslie Caron North by Northwest - Cary Grant
There's a deleted scene in the pirate ship grotto where there was supposed to be a giant octopus adding to the jeopardy of walking the plank. I remember the promotional magazine with pictures that I got when I was very young. I was so disappointed that it wasn't there. Thing is it would have been practical and probably would have looked awful on film. I think they still mention it very briefly on the beach at the end.
As a child of the '80s, I loved this movie as a kid. Once I got older, it really annoyed me how the kids yelled their lines over each other. But now that I'm old, I look back on it with a lot of nostalgia because it reminds me of how life was back when I was a kid.
The Princess Bride, ET, Legend, Labyrinth, Big Trouble in Little China, Lost Boys, Neverending Story, The Dark Crystal, The Last Starfighter, Beastmaster (just the first one, no sequels), Top Gun... hmmm... probably missing a few must see's but I'm sure someone else will catch the ones I missed.
You'll probably be asked to watch or be recommended the same load of movies that every other reactor is watching. So I'll recommend the same films I recommend that every reactor ignores. They are Attack The Block and the other is The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert. By the way, Sean Astin who plays Mikey in the Goonies was also Wynona Ryder's boyfriend in Stranger Things 'Kids just don't do this anymore' No because playing out and getting fresh air doesn't involve some electronic gadget being stuck to their nose.
Gremlins is very unique, I agree!
Stand By Me 1986 is a must watch
Oooh, great one!
Yes this is my favorite movie ever!!
Kylie Milne Im definitely considering it! There’s so many classics I want to do, for a reaction, for you guys!
YES
Yes!!
Ferris buellers day off is a must see
And stand by me
Jadyn Barlow noted!
If I listed ten 80s movies you have to see, these would be on the list.
Omg Stand By Me for sure
Excellent choice Stand by me
The Lost Boys, too!
Oooh! I’ve got to second ‘The Princess Bride’ opinion!
I second The Princess Bride!
The princess bride def gets my vote! My all time favorite and that is saying something!
Inconceivable!
All time favorite movie here.
If you've never watched the original Jumanji I recommend it!
Yes!!! That's a good one!!!!
That was my favourite kids' movie. It has a lot of dark themes.
Fun fact: the actor who played Brand in the goonies also plays thanos in the avengers movies
You re right, it s a young thanos without the big jawline
ZeUs No?
And his little brother is Samwise Gamgee. One questing with a ring from a giant gauntlet one a stone from a giant gauntlet...weird.
Not fun at all fact: poor Corey Haim does not do movies anymore after he got swept up in the media circus surrounding Michael Jackson.
Travis Himebaugh why we talking about a guy who isn’t even in this movie? And he didn’t just stop acting btw he’s dead
You should watch “The Princess Bride” it sounds like a mushy title but it’s actually awesome
One of my favs! "INCONCEIVABLE!!"
YES! PLEASE!
Andrew Paxton I have met the Prince Humperdinck and Wallace Shawn at comic con. I have seen Cary Elwes when he visited Worcester.
Andrew Paxton fun fact about the Princess Bride. Andre the Giant had to get around the filming area with 4 wheeler ATV. Andre let Cary ride the ATV and he broke his toe on it.
Yeah don't worry, it's not a -Kissing Book- Kissing Movie.
"Kids just don't do this anymore. It's sad." Yes, more children should bike to Cyndi Lauper!
NeverEnding Story is a classic
YES
aka "my childhood"
I hated that movie. The horse dying scared me so badly. To this day, I don't understand the plot of NeverEnding Story.
"this is sad, kids just don't do this anymore." tell me about it. this was my childhood. going on adventures with my friends all day during the summer, when our bikes were like our cars and we only went inside to eat or go to the bathroom. I love this movie so much, it's the epitome of nostalgia for me ❤️
"Romancing the Stone" is a lost classic
yes! and War of the Roses!
You should watch "The Sandlot" - classic lines!!!! Also "The Breakfast Club".
A McGee “ you’re killing me smalls! “ I’ll definitely have to throw these two into a poll!

The Never Ending Story, a must see...if you haven't already seen it of course...
Breakfast Club and The Princess Bride are absolute 80's musts. The Princess Bride in my opinion is a film that along with The Goonies EVERY child should watch.
Flight of the Navigator is another classic kids movie. It's hilarious.
Great one!
One of my absolute favorite films as a kid. And still.
If you love 'coming of age' movies like this one, Stand By Me is incredible. Whenever asked, I always say it's my favorite movie of all time. I'd be surprised if you didn't love it
The main kid is Samwise Gamgee.
The big brother in this movie is Thanos.
Then there's Corey Feldman, who is a treasure.
Some suggestions:
Big Trouble in Little China
Top Gun
Indiana Jones movies
Big Trouble in Little China!!!!!! Sooo good!
Big Trouble in Little China is good.

Chunk's such a classic character. He's pretty much the inspiration for Eric Cartman.
people back then in 80's didnt questioned reasons why, or how goonies did this and that. people just enjoyed this entertaining adventurous funny movie. can believe you cut part where Chunk tortured the Fratellis with his bizarre stories while he was tortured by them. the best lines in the movie
You need to watch Willow
I was looking for this! Great movie!
I saw this movie in the theater when I was an early teen... I still remember the truffle shuffle dubbed dialog (since I watched it in French)! It is a stupid/funny movie that people of all ages could appreciate; you just have to be in the right mindset.

I've been there before as I live not far away. I only saw the house and the rock
Every 80s kids movie had to have a water slide in it.

more classic suggestions:
"Clue" (1985)
"Throw Momma From the Train" (1987)
"Planes Trains and Automobiles" (1987)
"Young Frankenstein" (1974)
Some great comedies you suggested
The Blues Brothers is a classic
Man how have you missed all these classics? This is quintessential 80s.
Watch “Uncle Buck” w/ John Candy or “The Great Outdoors” both are F’in great!!! The Sandlot, Stand By Me, GroundHog Day, What About Bob
If you haven't seen MONSTER SQUAD then that is something you should quickly remedy.
The Princess Bride for sure, Jumanji, Stand By Me and Jurassic Park is a must watch!
"Did you ask your mom first?" LMAOOOO
Have you seen Gremlins? The Muppet Movie? The Great Muppet Caper? Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Labyrinth? Little Shop of Horrors (1986)? The Dark Crystal? Those are my suggestions.
I LOVE this movie and If you love the character of Mouth, then you'll LOVE the 80s classic Stand By Me it's so freaking hilarious! By the way my sister's grandma looked and behaved like Mrs. Fertelli...she was SO awful that my sister went to a concert instead of her gma's wake when she died LOL 😂

So many great older movies out there.
Me too man!
“You’re going to live with me, Sloth.”
“Did you ask your mom?”
Lol, right?!? My thoughts exactly.
In 80's movies, anything goes
The actor who plays Sloth is John Matuszak, he was a former NFL player who played for The Houston Oilers, Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Redskins, and The Oakland/Las Angeles Raiders whom he won two Super Bowls with. He unfortunately died June 17, 1989 as a result of acute propoxyphene intoxication, an accidental overdose of the prescription drug Darvocet at only the age of 38. "Honey I shrunk the kids" is one of the most iconic 80s-kids-movie I remember!!
Everybody wishes they could have been a Goonie. The power of friendship.
I am almost 47. This was in my earliest teen years. I can still repeat every line in this movie! Data said" Holy S-H-I-T Mikey! Neverending Story is next for sure. 80's music, 80's acting, 80's kids story, fantasy, adventure, and overall a real good feeling once you're done.
After all these years I still burst out singing that Cyndi Lauper song now and then.
The Shawshank Redemption
Tombstone
Big
My Cousin Vinny
Good Will Hunting
Love My cousin Vinny. Lost Boys is good too for the 80s. Likely other classics we cant think of right now.
The main love interest makes me want to watch "big girls don't cry, they get even." It was originally called "step family" guessing they had legal problems. The last four are a must
Full Metal Jacket has to be on any must watch list

THIS IS THE PURE UNALTERED ESSENCE OF THE 80'S!!!
I mean for an 80's/90's Kid this thing is like a dream,
Lost Boys, Young Guns, Dazed and Confused, Adventures in Babysitting, Short Circuit, Flight of the Navigator
Adventures in Babysitting is a must watch also! I agree
When I was a kid in the 80s we were always playing out going on adventures, kids now are glued to their phones..
As a kid, I saw this in the theater. Loved it. As an adult, I still love it. Maybe even MORE SO now.
Mad Max Fury road, Its a masterpiece. The colors of the movie, the contrast! The relationships of the charaters!
In the 80s category, i recommend: Adventures in Babysitting , Three Men and a Baby, Lost Boys , License to Drive , Summer School 😉 some of my all-time favs
That is Corey Feldman as Mouth. He is in the Vampire movie The Lost Boys as when he was a teenager. He was also in Gremlins.
cant believe people have not seen all these 80s films im so happy i lived through the 80s and saw them all 1st hand, it was the best time of my life., your right kids dont do that anymore, But i did and i loved it. we were the goonies
If you want to try, I highly suggest
“That Thing You Do!”
They just had a live cast reaction to the movie and it was so great.
People born in 90s: we heard the legends from the 80s, about great movies that were original stories and that you'd enjoy for your entire life
Me: It's true. All of it.
im 05 and this movie is a classic for me and same for bttf 1, 2, 3, and i just started watching these classics and im so happy i didnt miss out on these masterpieces.
So glad I got to grow up like this. Kids outside playing and running/biking all around. Getting into trouble but nothing serious. Kids really miss out today. Glad electronics were not an everyday facet of life back then. Life was more imaginative, even more so growing up poor.

Oops...sorry, I got carried away...but every one of those movies are movies I consider classics of the 80's and 90's (A sprinkling of 60's, 70's, and 2000's too) and wonderful to watch and rewatch!
I gifted this to my nephew and then 2 yrs later Stand by Me classics
Fun fact, sloth couldn't eat in those prostetics. They had to feed him smoothies by straw.
Killer Clowns from Outter Space
The Outsiders is a must watch. That movie has Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze and Ralph Machio in it. Great movie.
Good movies worth watching that you probably haven't even heard of
Private Eyes - Tim Conway and Don Knots
Father Goose - Cary Grant and Leslie Caron
North by Northwest - Cary Grant
My absolute favourite childhood film of all time. It's nothing short of a masterpiece :D
One I would recommend that I always watched along with Goonies was The Monster Squad.
Some great classics to watch Flight of the Navigator 1986, Hook 1990, The lost Boys 1987, Groundhog day 1993, Aliens 1986 list can go on
A lot of people don't realize Bran is Thanos.
He's also Cable from Deadpool 2!
I think kids are still going to like this movie. I grew up on this movie and I'm only 23. It's really one of my favorites.
You should watch Dead Poet's Society and The Princess Bride. Also Mrs Doubtfire and Hook if you haven't seen them.
The Lost Boys, is a must watch. Caddy Shack, Animal House, Stripes, First Blood, Meat Balls and Up in Smoke are all classics.
Cruel Intentions comes to mind
Mouse Hunt is one I'd suggest.
I really loved watching this movie growing up.
My Grandparents had the VHS and I'd watch it all the time. XD
I grew up with that movie in that time genre and I will say it was the best and I still love it. Even my kids love it
You'll probably be asked to watch or be recommended the same load of movies that every other reactor is watching. So I'll recommend the same films I recommend that every reactor ignores. They are Attack The Block and the other is The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert.
By the way, Sean Astin who plays Mikey in the Goonies was also Wynona Ryder's boyfriend in Stranger Things
'Kids just don't do this anymore'
No because playing out and getting fresh air doesn't involve some electronic gadget being stuck to their nose.
Howard the duck! That film changed my childhood it's amazing :)
Here is a list of movies you should watch.
Sandlot
Big
Breakfast Club
Princes Bride
you should watch short circuit so you will know who johnny 5 is 😂😂😂
