In No Body, No Crime, Este gets murdered by her husband after she confronts him about cheating. Because Taylor and her were friends, Taylor puts the pieces together of how the husband has new shiny tires and he moved on real quick, like too quick, and the mistress is now sleeping in her bed. Taylor then talks about how she knows how to clean a scene and get a boating license (which she would use to leave the scene), and how Este's sister is her alibi. So basically she kills him, and the mistress is framed because she took out a large life insurance before he died. So the gist of it is, Este is killed by her husband, and then Taylor kills her husband.
Yesss, I think the new tires mean Este slashed them when she caught him cheating, OR his tires had evidence of where he dumped the body. But Taylor's boating license helped her hide the husband's body, she dropped it in a lake somewhere probs

The most haunting thing about Tolerate It is that she spends the song saying she’s strong enough to leave… but the last line is how she sits and watches him because she never did 😞
I need Anthony to be invited to a secret session. If there was one person other than me I would want to see be invited it would be him haha. TAYLOR PLEASE NOTICE THIS GEM!
Folklore broke me, Evermore picked me up Folklore left me wondering, evermore gave me closure. It came full circle for me. Marjorie is a song that I'd listen to only when I'm emotionally steady again. I had no parents and my grandma brought me up all by herself. If I wrote a song for her, this would be perfect. It's been 8 years since she passed away but because of the memories that song evoked in me when I listened to it the first time, I actually saw my grandma in my dream last night. So, I'll be skipping that song for some time for obvious reasons. About the album, on my first listen, a lot of songs from Evermore kind of threw me off and left me confused. But then I listened to both albums back to back over and over again. And it all fall right into place. Believe me when I say it will all come together the more you listen. Great video as usual. My homeboy came through and delivered. Cheers!!
Hey!! Just wanted to thank you for always showing me support. I’m sorry for your loss. I’m sure she is guiding as an Angel. I lost a lot of people in this last couple of years and i do believe in energy and auras still being around. Also, Glad everyone came in full circle. ❤️
@@AnthonyAikenJr thanks man. Appreciate your kind words. God bless you and your family. And hey, you always give us something to look forward to each time. So you deserve all the support you're getting from this community. Respect 😇
I think that Champagne Problems has some of her relationship with Calvin in it. There was a reference to turning down a proposal in the LWYMMD video (a ring box in the robbery scene) as well as in IDWLF ("Wondering if I dodged a bullet or just lost the love of my life").
im pretty sure “‘tis the damn season” and “dorothea” are conected. dorothea is this girl who moves to la so she can get big and all that but she leaves someone who she had a relationship with on her home town. on christmas she comes back and reconnects with that person and thats what “‘tis the damn season” talks about. “dorothea” is the other person’s version.
There’s a show on Netflix called “Easy” with this EXACT story line. It’s the episode with jake Johnson in it. I wonder if she was inspired by it to create the song the way that “something great” inspired death by a thousand cuts 👀👀👀
That makes it 10x sad!! Do you think there is a link between this song & New Year’s Day P.S. Subscribe if you haven’t & my Twitter/Instagram is anthony96jr 🤍
That’s because poems are up to personal interpretation. We all have our own life experiences and we all experience everything differently. For someone to spell out word for word what something means would be to break individuality.
Marjorie - this song is a tribute to her maternal grandmother, Marjorie Finlay, who was an opera singer. After she sings “now you’re singing to me”, the background has her grandmother’s operas recordings in there.
love your analyses of her lyrics. Marjorie gets me. Its so personal and I can't listen to it without crying. Her grandmother passed when Taylor was 13 yr old and was an Opera singer. If you go back and listen to it, the final chorus when she sings that she can hear her singing to her, there is a track of her grandmother actually singing opera in the background. And, Taylor lists her in the credits as singing background. Its a lovely song. Especially using the phrases that her grandmother taught her.
Thank you!! Majorie is the one too. Especially know that info. I can tell this is personal for her. It’s one of those songs you love but it’s hard to listen to without crying P.S. Subscribe if you haven’t & my Twitter/Instagram is anthony96jr ❤️
@@AnthonyAikenJr Oh I'm subscribed. I've been following your TS journey, I've been doing my own by following yours. I never thought it, but the past 5 mos I've become a TS stan. Who knew?
I want to say how much I appreciate finding another black man who's able to appreciate Taylor's creativity & music. So thank you... But Yoooo, you did "cowboy like me" dirty.😆 Yeah it took me at least 3 listens to get it - 2 cynical con artists finding each other, opening their hearts, changing their ways & locking it down (I wanna believe they stayed together). And the guitar solo, what?! Beautiful. Now, I love it!
Este thinks her husband is having an affair but she can't prove it, and when she decides to call him out on it, he kills her, but they can't prove it. So Taylor decides to kill him with Este's sister help who'll say she was with her the whole time as an alibi. And since the man's mistress just took out an insurance policy, she looks like she's the one who killed him and has been planning it for a while. I hope that makes sense, I'm not a native English speaker 😅
@@AnthonyAikenJr Glad it helped, I'm always nervous trying to explain complicated stuff in English but Taylor's lyrics are so good it would be a waste to not understand them fully 😊 And RUclips is the only "social media" I have so I can only subscribe here but I wish you the best ♥️
I know you mentioned in your folklore video you don't believe Taylor is only singing about romantic relationships in her two newest albums and I agree entirely. I appreciate that you noticed this too. I just want to add that Tolerate It is even more heartbreaking when you hear it from the perspective of a heartbroken neglected and/or abused daughter . That is how I hear it. No one can break your heart like the people who were supposed to love you unconditionally.
Dorothea being the male counterpart to tis the season gets me every time 🥺 Hollywood starlet goes home for the holidays (tis the season) and notes that the rode not travelled (seeing things through with hometown love) seems enticing. She misses people who actually know her, not ppl who pretend to care (like in LA) 💔 like you said Dorothea is laced with so much genuine concern 😭

Here is a theory that Jules Gnu commented on another reaction video "Poet Reacts to Taylor Swift's Evermore" which works: "Ivy is probably about Emily Dickinson and her long-time lover Sue. They fell in love when they were young women and then Sue married Emily's brother (some believe she did this so that she could remain close to Emily and others wouldn't be suspicious of their love), and the two had a life long relationship documented by Emily's poems and letters to Sue. Taylor released Evermore on Emily Dickinson's birthday, and in two of Emily's letters to Sue, she ends them by writing "for evermore!" Sue has often been described as the “muse” for Emily’s poetry (“can’t stop you putting roots in my dreamland” could reference how her love for Sue was the inspiration for her poetry/creative outlet), the cottagecore imagery in the song resembles the setting in which their love flourished (poems and letters described the time they spent together in the woods and in nature). And one of Dickinson’s letters to Sue also reads “I guess I’m made with nothing but a hard heart of stone, for it don’t break any, and dear Susie, if mine is stony, yours is stone, upon stone, for you never yield, any, where I seem quite beflown.” So like in Ivy, the “house of stone” is Emily Dickinson’s “hard heart of stone” and the ivy that grows all over it is Sue’s love. AHHH! Oh and one more theory - the lyric "my pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand” could be referring to how Emily Dickinson left all of her poetry to Sue after she died (the “pain” being her poems) and how Sue was the only person/collaborator she trusted to share her first drafts of her poems with."
I came to your channel for a TS reaction and stayed for your talent and humor. Great soul! Very talented, i love watching your reviews because they are very diverse, you comment on the production, on the lyrics, the vocals, you make references, and best of all your super fun edits. Thanks for making an effort to stand out on this platform.
No idea why but the part of willow that goes "The more that you say, the less I know Wherever you stray, I follow I'm begging for you to take my hand Wreck my plans, that's my man." reminds me of that line in Mad Woman "Every time you call me crazy I get more crazy What about that? And when you say I seem angry I get more angry" It doesn't make sense because they don't really sound the same, but just the rhythm and the way she sings it makes me go straight to Mad Woman.
I feel like you can relate to “Tolerate It” in many situations. In a relationship, with your parents, siblings, friends, ...anyone. That’s what makes it so special and heartbreaking💔
My hug came perfect timing then!! This album really puts you through the motions. I agree P.S. Subscribe if you haven’t! Instagram/Twitter @ anthony96jr 🤍
I'm pretty sure Dorothea and 'tis the damn season are connected because 'tis the damn season talks about going back to her home town and being with this person she used to know and then going back to LA. Dorothea seems like it would be the guy's perspective. They are both reflecting on knowing each other in the past.
I know your folklore reaction and this reaction are 3 years old but i just discovered your folklore video and came here... the transition from the folklore cardigan video editing to the evermore video with you wearing the cardigan 😂 perfect!!!!

Hope you’re safe and healthy 🙏🏼🔥
You're such a joy to listen to!! I love your commentary and how open you are to try new things, I stumbled on this channel by accident and you're such a positive, lovely person!! I agree with almost all your opinions with the exception of Tolerate It, that it's one of my favorites in the album. It really is super sad and a lot of arrangements are different as hell from her usual music, both Tolerate It and Happiness are entirely new styles for Taylor and I'm so happy someone else noticed!
Dorothea and 'Tis the Damn Season are about the same two past lovers. 'Tis the Damn Season is from the woman's perspective going to her hometown for the holidays and hooking up with her old boyfriend. Dorothea is from the guy's perspective and presumed to be a few years after they hooked up in the other song. Dorothea has apparently become a star in LA by that point.
Another awesome and honest reaction. Thank you for all your hard work, Anthony! Every single time you bring a cool perspective. It's always interesting to hear your thoughts as an artist!!
In no body no crime Este's husband and the mistress kill Este and then narrator(taylor) understands and kills the husband framing the mistress. By the way edits are amazing.
You know , you’re one of the few people i genuinely enjoy they’re reaction . You very well engaged with your viewers ,and i can tell you put alot of work in your videos 🤍
mo body, no crime lyrics spells it out clear as day. How are some of these comments even getting this wrong lmaooo Taylor* (in this universe) meets up with her friend, Este, at Olive Garden every Tuesday night. Este has been having marital issues, she suspects that her husband is having an affair based on the way he’s been acting recently and things like strange purchases on her husband’s bank statements. Este confronts her husband about the cheating she goes missing (he kills her). When Taylor drove past his house, she noticed that his car had new tyres and that the mistress had moved in - they both moved on quickly and made no effort to find Este. Taylor plots to kill Este’s husband; note she’s had her boating license since she was 15 (either she dumped his body in the ocean, or she used it as a getaway vehicle / or both) and she knows how to clean up a murder scene. Her alibi is set that she was with Este’s sister the night of the husband’s disappearance (probably noted that she was grieving with her due to her being so close with Este). Luckily for Taylor, the mistress took out a life insurance policy shortly after the husband’s death (super duper sketchy in the eyes of the law, especially so soon after the death of the loved one). The mistress fully suspects and subconsciously knows it was Taylor but can’t prove it; whilst simultaneously, the law enforcement have the mistress as the number 1 suspect but can’t prove it. Taylor got away with murder and avenged her friend

Literally Nick about Gatsby in The Great Gatsby (which she straight up references, directly, TWICE, in happiness)
Folklore broke me, Evermore picked me up
Folklore left me wondering, evermore gave me closure.

Champagne Problems is about a woman turning down her man’s marriage propose because she realized she is not ready
One of my favorite songs!! Great concept

one who was turning down a ring and one who was supposed to end it
I think that Champagne Problems has some of her relationship with Calvin in it. There was a reference to turning down a proposal in the LWYMMD video (a ring box in the robbery scene) as well as in IDWLF ("Wondering if I dodged a bullet or just lost the love of my life").
Also she thinks she's not good enough for him and she's not ready so she sit and watch him leave
im pretty sure “‘tis the damn season” and “dorothea” are conected.
dorothea is this girl who moves to la so she can get big and all that but she leaves someone who she had a relationship with on her home town. on christmas she comes back and reconnects with that person and thats what “‘tis the damn season” talks about. “dorothea” is the other person’s version.
I think that’s right because she discussed that in an Instagram post😳
@SARA Dorothea is Selena Gomez.
Love this analysis!! I’m going to listen to both again with that in mind.

There’s a show on Netflix called “Easy” with this EXACT story line. It’s the episode with jake Johnson in it. I wonder if she was inspired by it to create the song the way that “something great” inspired death by a thousand cuts 👀👀👀
It’s Easy episode (season 3, episode 9) “She’s back”

@@kurtsworld6954 she is amazing
sometimes i feel like we'll never fully understand taylor's lyrics cause of how poetic they are, she's never saying only what she's saying
That’s because poems are up to personal interpretation. We all have our own life experiences and we all experience everything differently. For someone to spell out word for word what something means would be to break individuality.
I love that!! Great works of literature always leave room for questions and debates.
the actor in the willow music video was a dancer on her Red tour, there's a really cute Polaroid of them floating around
That’s amazing that she uses her dancers. I remember she used one in Lover too
Taylor with folklore : let's crying together
Taylor with evermore : let's put our pain on the grain

The start of no body, no crime reminds me of the beginning of her song " you should’ve said no " ( first few seconds )
Same!!! Glad someone else noticed it haha
It reminds me of the O.j car chase
I need a video to this!!!
Marjorie - this song is a tribute to her maternal grandmother, Marjorie Finlay, who was an opera singer. After she sings “now you’re singing to me”, the background has her grandmother’s operas recordings in there.
Song is so beautiful especially knowing that she is in the background
P.S. Happy Holidays!!
My Twitter/Instagram: anthony96jr 🌲🤎
There is a video too with old shots of her grandmother, it’s beautiful
love your analyses of her lyrics.
It’s one of those songs you love but it’s hard to listen to without crying

I want to say how much I appreciate finding another black man who's able to appreciate Taylor's creativity & music. So thank you... But Yoooo, you did "cowboy like me" dirty.😆 Yeah it took me at least 3 listens to get it - 2 cynical con artists finding each other, opening their hearts, changing their ways & locking it down (I wanna believe they stayed together). And the guitar solo, what?! Beautiful. Now, I love it!
Yesss, I was alson waiting for the reaction on the "now you hang from my lips like the gardens of babylon" and nothing, he just cut it 😭
Este thinks her husband is having an affair but she can't prove it, and when she decides to call him out on it, he kills her, but they can't prove it. So Taylor decides to kill him with Este's sister help who'll say she was with her the whole time as an alibi. And since the man's mistress just took out an insurance policy, she looks like she's the one who killed him and has been planning it for a while.

I know you mentioned in your folklore video you don't believe Taylor is only singing about romantic relationships in her two newest albums and I agree entirely.
Here is a theory that Jules Gnu commented on another reaction video "Poet Reacts to Taylor Swift's Evermore" which works:
"Ivy is probably about Emily Dickinson and her long-time lover Sue. They fell in love when they were young women and then Sue married Emily's brother (some believe she did this so that she could remain close to Emily and others wouldn't be suspicious of their love), and the two had a life long relationship documented by Emily's poems and letters to Sue. Taylor released Evermore on Emily Dickinson's birthday, and in two of Emily's letters to Sue, she ends them by writing "for evermore!"
Sue has often been described as the “muse” for Emily’s poetry (“can’t stop you putting roots in my dreamland” could reference how her love for Sue was the inspiration for her poetry/creative outlet), the cottagecore imagery in the song resembles the setting in which their love flourished (poems and letters described the time they spent together in the woods and in nature).
Taylor just keeps outdoing herself, and most people in the music industry.
Great video! Loved hearing your theories!

No idea why but the part of willow that goes "The more that you say, the less I know
Wherever you stray, I follow
I'm begging for you to take my hand
Wreck my plans, that's my man."
reminds me of that line in Mad Woman "Every time you call me crazy
I get more crazy
What about that?
And when you say I seem angry
I get more angry"
It doesn't make sense because they don't really sound the same, but just the rhythm and the way she sings it makes me go straight to Mad Woman.
Taylor actually said that she referenced mad woman in willow during the youtube premiere

'Tis the Damn Season is from the woman's perspective going to her hometown for the holidays and hooking up with her old boyfriend. mo body, no crime lyrics spells it out clear as day.
How are some of these comments even getting this wrong lmaooo
Taylor* (in this universe) meets up with her friend, Este, at Olive Garden every Tuesday night.
Thanks 😭😭 It took me the second listen to understand. Don’t judge me, I could be slow sometimes lol.

Also about Champagne Problems it reminds me of This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things, during the first verse where she talks about the parties and being in a Champagne Sea. But yk I could just be crazy.
You’re not crazy!! I could see that!

Anyway, thanks for another fun, insightful, thoughtful video!
