This is a great pleasure to listen to this travel in the origins of Klaus Schulze's instruments. The master is as usual, open minded and simple. A great litlle moment with him !

Klaus mentions EMS Rehberg. That is actually an independent company who licensed the EMS designs in the 1970s to sell mainly to the German market and designed some exclusive gear too. Both EMS the parent company in the UK and the German franchise are still operating separately on a very small scale and honor the sales agreements from decades ago meaning someone in Germany like Klaus deals with EMS Rehberg and vice versa

He seemed a genteel man. And it is simply impossible for him NOT to make an amazing sound straight away on his old friend, the EMS.

He's got a Roland V-Synth there too, which makes sense. A nice combination of instruments. He probably used the V-Synth to sample the EMS, to store, time stretch and play sounds he made with it.

Just for the record, you CAN get conventional melodies and harmonies from a VCS-3 or Synthi A, but you have to hook it up to a keyboard. Rick Wright used a VCS 3 on Pink Floyd's Any Colour You Like, for instance.

Great little synth, I've had mine since 1973 and will never part with it. BTW EMS is still in business and are now based in Cornwall, England not Germany as Klaus thought.

@@jacksonfritts2988 yep, I’ve spent the past 11 years rethinking my original comment. I have got more into the Berlin stuff over that time and can enjoy it more. I like what he did with Namlook especially.
