Still baffled by so many people sleeping on Bliss as their first duty station and opting for Fort Cavazos instead. I notice this trend every year. I know why I chose 2/1CD as a 2LT, but that was because we were all chasing deployments to Afghanistan during GWOT. Why do so many Armor LTs today prefer Fort Cav to Fort Bliss?
Same goes for Riley. It's a great post, good unit, and Manhattan, KS is a nice college town (certainly leaps and bounds above Highland Falls). Everyone will have the same OPTEMPO and deployments regardless of unit, so I'm just curious what the thought process is.
Bliss is pretty bad. Hood is way worse. I don't understand why the Germany assignments didn't get snatched up. Or the Airborne assignments. ACR assignments too.
I am German; do graduates choose their first job there? And if so, is this linked to the performance achieved during training? Germany would need a system like that -
PADSO is an additional duty service obligation (ADSO) for a post (P). You basically incur 3 additional years of mandatory service for a PADSO post. They're usually highly sought after posts, like Hawaii, Germany, etc. so some of the people at higher class ranks end up trading 3 additional years for a better first post. However most of people don't chose PADSO unless they want to pursue military career.
Gentlemen, I can personally understand losing one's conviction regarding "duty," perhaps even "country," but to remove "honor," from the code ensures that you will only produce the worst of people willing to kill and lead other men to do the same, for what some politician finds convenient in that moment. Shameful. Even after I voluntarily separated from the academy, after learning what I needed too; the idea that West Point stands (stood) for HONOR gives me chills. The new motto is ridiculous and being devoid of honor, its most important virtue, and the primary reason I attended to begin with, I am now embarrassed to be associated with that institution. Return HONOR to the motto or USMA will stand for the worst of the worst. Ya'll have lost your way, please correct course. God Bless
@@ThomasDohertyJD Honor transcends "Army Values," by orders of magnitude. Army Values are subject to change, Honor is not. Without Honor, duty and country are worthless. The motto needs to be restored. What say you sir?

Why is the armor branch rep wearing combat jump wings and the screaming eagles unit patch? Shouldn't he be armor not infantry/airborne.
101st has cavalry scouts who fall under the armor branch however thats being changed. They are getting rid of cavalry scouts.
Ft campbell shut down their cav squadrons
@touko_nanami not all of them. Mostly just light cav units
talk about a bad comb over!
Dude. I was literally scrolling down to post this.
Is there a post night: Aviation? Thxs
From what I’ve seen it seems like it’s only the combat arms folks that they broadcast

It still is their motto. It’s just not in the mission statement.
Dude just accept it and shave your head
was just saying that, looks aweful.
What a shame to delete duty, honor and country from mission statement. Every cadet should make known their disgust.
