Haitian patties are different because we like them to be light so we can eat multiple before a meal. Jamaican Patties are more of a light meal so its heavier on the meat. I would love to see you guys try haitian food. I can tell you'd like the rice and pork (griot) with some sos pwa (bean sauce) with some fried plantains.
Yeah we did love the Haitian patties at La Baguette Shop. Griot looks amazing too...and we love plantains. We definitely need to try it. Thanks for the recs!
Im happy I ran into your channel! Such fun watching the two of you.! With the variety of food fron the world in NYC you have material for thousand of videos! ❤️
I remember going to immacule and paying 50 cents for a pattie... every morning i bought 4 from the old lady inside and she would give me a coffee...just beautiful ❤️🇧🇧
The haitian patties from La bagettue are just on a whole other level of goodness. Tasty had some of the best Jamiacan beef patties. I hope they bring them back soon. FYI that spot you went to across the street are nothing close to what Tasty are! And as for Golden Crust. They have fallen off in the past few years. Their patties don't hit like the used to back in the days.
Haitian Patties are my favorite but it was so cool to see Little Miss Muffin and Her Stuffin'. The original location was on Park place near Carlton by the Q train stop if I remember right. My mom used to take me in the late 90s. I remember the owner at the time. Very sweet lady that loved her baking.
I have never tasted a Haitian patty, therefore, ill trust you- this time. However, Jamaican patties are on par to good s@x, especially fresh out of the oven. Heavenly!!
@@thejeanyes12 Still Haitian beat Jamaicans in patty😳That's like saying y'all got better musicians than us,or track athletes,or better looking women 😂. Haitian Patty's are cheaply made

WOW all the years I lived in NYC I never had a Haitian patty. As for Golden Crust I use to love getting their patties on Jamaica Ave. I'm surprised you went to the store and rated it so low. Now I live in AZ I get the golden crust from dollar tree. I know it's not the same as getting it from the store in NYC.
There’s a reason why Golden Krust is HUGE. Perhaps we need to try it again. I’m sure the dollar tree patties are delicious too. There’s just something about prepackaged patties that makes em so good
Jamaican patty is derived from British Cornish pasty or British meat pie dating back to slavery. Jamaicans add their spin on British meat pie( Cornish pasty) and the Jamaican patty was born. Jamaican patty is not Indian derived. It has nothing to do with India. The only thing in Jamaica cuisine that came from India is Curry and Jamaican curry taste totally different from Indian curry.
You know if you wanted to do a Queens vs Brooklyn battle you can head to South Ozone Park and hit some of the spots there. There's Sybils and Anil's, both on Liberty Ave. Though not staight up Jamaican there are alotta Guyanese and Trini spots down there.
The Vibez @ little miss musffin, thank you for the dope review, I'm upset jamaican pride is now permanently closed (9/8/21) looks like a casualty of the pandemic.🇮🇨🇬🇧🇯🇲
Both patties are good, but In reality there are very different from each other. So it's all about your preference emaculate and la baguette are both good! But different. Tasty patty was the best before the pandemic. Since the owner died sh%t hit the fan they fell off. But I be killing those Haitians patties though.
You have had enough patties you are qualified to know what a classic need pattie taste like and once you know ,you know! Once you've had an authentic Jamaican beef patty that's it.
I can't call that a patty because it's mostly flaky crust like a turnover with a touch of meat inside, and Jamaican patties has more flavor Haitian better with there crust. You guys are more going for the price low, I think.
Jamaican patties are not replicable. It's almost impossible to replicate it- at least I have never seen it replicated outside of Jamaica. I am from NYC and lived in different states and I have never had a patty in the US that tastes remotely close to the patty you get on the island of Jamaica. First of all, Jamaican patties are supposed to be flaky. The patties here that are are passing off as Jamaican are almost like a bread with filling.
The problem is black people are not though of as having culture.. Haitians don't like too much meat in their patties, its considered an antre, snacking not really a meal, its fun too eat that's why they're crunchy. Jamaican patties are too sloppy.
If Haitian patties are so good. The demand should be huge. The Haitian diaspora in the States is huge. These reviewers here probably have the palette for Haitian flavor. Nothing wrong with that but they are in the minority. Incase you didn't realize there are several different companies making frozen Jamaican patties and selling them in different supermarkets all across the US. Can't say the same about Haitian patties. No bruise pride here, just stating facts.
there's many factors as to why Jamaican patties are more in demand!! First of all is bob Marley and how he painted Jamaica to the world......secondly would be the language!! It's easier to relate with folks that speaks a common language where Haitians are french speakers and it isn't the most common...... I would say that's why it's more popular
Listen Haitian patties are not as good as Jamaicans it's all crust plus Jamaicans bin making these patties for centuries while Haiti just picked it up from the Jamaicans.
Where do you get that ignorance from? Jamaicans did not create patties. As a matter of fact, the word patty is derived from the French word (pate). The copycat is Jamaicans.

From what we've tried, yeah! Sadly, we think Jamaican Pride recently closed down...so Little Miss Muffin is our go to for now.
True. Jamaican Pride were the best. They have closed down.
