Rick so I tried these. I'm a 14 handicap and normally play Bridgestone 33rx or some version of them. These Maxfli straight fly just as far and definitely straighter. My playing partner actually asked what ball I was hitting. Thanks for the tip! Also half the price of my regular ball.
Rick I posted my review of these last year and as an amateur, I can honestly say, I found very similar results. I played these balls for months and while they aren't going to always go straight, there is a definite reduction in curvature.
It would have been a good idea to play 5 Pro V1’s as well so you could see the difference in distance and ball flight. Then you would have had a direct comparison to the ball you normally play
Yeah, kinda obvious alternating balls Maxfli vs. Pro V one after another would have painted a better picture. Rick tends to curve his balls though, and those Maxfli shots were really straight.

Hey Rick! What I would have loved to have seen you do with these balls is try to intentionally hit a draw or a fade. Straight aiming golf balls are generally marketed towards golfers who slice or hook the ball, so trying to hit a power-fade and seeing if it flies straight would be the best test!
I’ve been playing these for the past 2 years now, I agree on the feel, they aren’t the best feeling golf balls in the world, but no where near top flite bad. Maxfli also has newer ball out called the trifli, I believe it’s the same concept but a 3 piece ball
@@moonface978 I would say yes, my handicap didn’t go down tremendously last year, but I finally started hitting driver more since it was the one I struggled with hitting straight the most, and I shot my lowest ever score of 84 last year so that’s something
Yeah, the Maxfli balls aren't as bad as maybe the budget reputation would seem to be. I've been playing the Maxfli Tour for the last two years, since as a high handicapper the ProV1s don't show much benefit for me. I would love to see a follow-up with some amateurs hitting these, might have to consider them since even though I play Maxfli, the Sraightfli seemed like a gimmick.
For a good golfer like Rick, I wonder if it’s a bit of a placebo effect of like “oh I know I can now hit this straight” and then he delivers a great swing. I think the real test will be with amateurs trying it out who don’t have a consistent swing
I’d love to use these but with the lack of time searching in the woods for my ball, my wife would actually know how long a round of golf is supposed to take.
I've used these balls before, early in my golf playing days (2 years ago and last year) and I like them. Once I learned how to properly align myself, they helped me take several strokes off per round. I went twice in one week, using regular balls, and these, and had 7 less strokes with the straightfli. That being said, I'm improving each round, and I'll use them more after I am hitting consistently, and see what I truly think of them. But, for cheap balls to play with your buddies, they're great.
This is so promising from your initial testing! I would game these immediately if they help. Very much looking forward to seeing another video with amateurs testing it out. Would also love to see it against your normal ProV1 to see if you are just having a great day and hitting them well vs. if there is a real difference. Thanks Rick as always!!
Yeah I was hoping he’d purposefully hit a big draw and fade and see if he was able to pull it off or if it would correct itself and result more in a push or pull. Interesting…
Would you not just rather work on your swing and manufacture straight shots by yourself? Surely a more rewarding way of going about hitting it straight..
Ben you are right. But while working on your swing why not give these balls a shot if they help? We all like to play the best we can at all times. So while putting in the work why not give yourself the opportunity to play your best?

I got some of these. Now, I've only gotten 1 round of play out of them so far, and they seem to work. It's a very small sample size, but it did feel like I was hitting my drives straighter than normal. Good thing is, while they don't go as straight as the Polara Ultimate Straight balls, they are considerably longer, and still do seem to go fairly straighter. It was a good pick up, I think.

You are so lucky to be able to play golf in winter. Here in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, right now it is -22 deg. C and there is at least 2 feets of snow everywhere. Thanks for the review. I might try these out.
Rick, you may also want to try the Wilson Triad golf ball. It is also legal and claims to be the straightest ball in golf. The feel is supposed to be decent as well. Definitely worth a review 👍
As someone who learned to play back in the 80’s using “Rock-Flites” I actually prefer a harder feeling golf ball! Would definitely give these a try if I could get them in a color other than white (old eyes!).👍🏻Great review Rick!
You got me excited. Been using those since like 2018 lol. The 2023s are great. I use bright orange matte. Great visibility against all the dandilions in NY.
Rick, I’ve been playing these balls all season since watching this video and can unequivocally say these balls fly straight! I’m hitting more fairways than ever and have lowered my handicap to its lowest ever, 8. I also shot my lowest round ever, 70. THESE BALLS ARE NO JOKE! When I played a ProV1 I was able to work them when needed left and right and had a draw bias on my drive. With the MaxFli Straightfli I cannot work them left or right, only hit them straight which is fine for me.
Would love to see a comparison to the new Wilson Triad golf balls that also promise to fly straighter and come out in February. Yes they are also legal.
Will be interesting. balls. The Wilsons don’t have a modified dimple pattern they just balance the mass more evenly (also an interesting idea). But I have a feeling the Maxfli aero solution will win out. I’ve hit those Polara balls and they literally straighten out IN FLIGHT! If Maxfli have exploited the maximum extent of non-uniform dimple pattern and it works, I bet we see more companies tey something similar
Just received a box of these as a gift. Can't wait to try them out. But in addition the amateurs I'd also like to see how they perform on and around the greens, control, backspin, putting, etc.
Great content as usual. Hit my driver straight for the first time today and putted for par on two holes. Overall not a bad day for someone who has only played a bit over a year
I’ve been playing these for 3 years. I like them. They keep my fade from turning into a slice. They do run a bit on greens so I tend to play for the front of greens. Very affordable and durable. Callaway’s Supersoft stops more on the greens but I tend to spray them more.
Would be interesting to hit maybe 25 or 50 balls that you play everyday and have the GC Quad give you the dispersion info, then repeat with the Maxfli to see if there really is a 20% narrower dispersion.
Definitely do a follow-up video with some mid to high HC'ers to see how it works for them. I used Maxfli golf balls for years when I was just starting out. I have a sweet spot in my heart for them.
I'd definitely like to see you revisit this test with a couple of regular golfers. I'd much rather achieve a good ball flight through my swing, than the design of a golf ball. But very interesting tech.
I used these last week. I was impressed. They worked 90 percent of the time. The times it didn't work was me trying way too hard and slicing it just as bad as normal. Worth a try for those wanting to stay in the game with a little less frustration.
These do work. I drive the ball long, but not straight. I've been playing with those illegal balls because I can hit almost every fairway with them. These ones aren't as good, but they are legal. I've reduced my slices and hooks with these by a lot. If I hit an awful shot, instead of slicing into the next fairway over, I'll just be in the rough next to my fairway. With normal balls, I'll hit maybe 4 fairways. With these I hit probably half. But my misses are so much closer to the fairway than they were.
Would love to see you try the Wilson Triad. They aren't claiming as much crazy straight flight as this, but they are saying improved stability and some amount of straighter flight in a quality mid priced ball.
Rick, a great video as always. It would be so great to to a "scientific" experiment with blanked out balls andtwo groups one that gets the maxfli and one that thinks they get the maxfli but gets at generic brand, and then after tracking their stats for a month or so the groups switch golf balls.
I started using these last summer, and oh my god are they awesome. Its not a cure for a bad swing, but it keeps you into the game mentally. Its nice to finally feel like i have some sort of control. All though i bought some Mizuno mp-20 SEL irons and screwed that all up lol.
Question for Rick: do you do anything different in terms of checking your own alignment prior to hitting a shot with one of these balls, or would you say it's 100% your normal pre-shot routine? I'm not for one moment suggesting you're trying to influence the findings / outcome of any review, rather wondered if the "straight ball" perhaps just makes you more aware of what you do (similar to how certain grips may encourage you to check / think about your grip more)? Great video yet again Rick! I'd be very interested to see a follow-up with some amateur golfers to see how well this golf ball works for them. Cheers
I played these golf ball for about half the year last year and I even used them in a tournament and I just didn’t fall in love with them. I use the maxfli softfli golf balls now and those are awesome. They’re soft, extremely durable, and have great feel. I love using them and they’re only $20 a dozen.
I used these last season and they definitely seemed to help with my slice. To a point of course. Also they were buy one box get one free at my local sports shop so that helped also!
I have found a few on the course and tried them. My experience was they are rock hard and not what I like for putting. But I kept them in play in areas I tend to hit hazards. Some give and take
Rick, great shots with this ball. I was a sales associate at Dick's Sporting Goods (not working their now) in their golf shop. We sold alot of these and others in the Maxfli brand. I've played these straightfli and the softfli balls. I'm a mid-handicapper on my best days😁. I figured trying them out so as to know whether to recommend them for similar players. They do play nice. A definite difference in feel between the two balls. I did recommend them and many repeat customers commented on playing well with the Maxfli. In the US currently they're running at $35 for two dozen. They also make some 3 piece Tour balls.
I think that giving the straightfli ball to a group of amateurs to test is a great idea. Last fall I tested the Maxfli straightfli against the Maxfli softfli, for feel and touch around the green. I did notice that they (straightfli balls) are have a harder feel than the softfli balls. This spring i will test for direction (straight flight). BTW, In the U.S. these balls are available for ~$20/dozen (2 dozen for $35) at Dick's Sporting goods or Golf Galaxy, a bit cheaper than amazon @~$30/dozen. thanks for testing them.
I can attest to the performance of these Straightfli golf balls. I tend to slice a bit and have used the Taylormade TP5x, Titleist ProV1, Taylormade Tour Response, and Callaway Chrome Soft golf balls. I honestly did see a marked improvement on ball spin with the Maxfli golf balls BUT, I have lost a lot of feel on the greens. Now that the price has jumped up, I am looking for a new ball to use again before going back to the TP5X or the ProV1.
Last year I found one of these and played it for three rounds. Did some research and found they were developed to fly straighter. I'm a 10hcp and bought some and have never looked back. They really do work. These help that occasional annoying fade of mine off the tee and keep the penalty strokes down.
You always use the prov1 id love to see you do a proper ball fitting across all the golf balls. A few months ago you said you were struggling to putt I found that not only did the putter cause misses and human error but the golf ball can actually help with putting straighter finding that right golf ball may save you strokes.
My buddy and I each bought these new StraightFli balls based on your review. This was our first day out this year, no driving range before, going in absolutely cold after not playing since Mid-Octobee 2021. And I just have to say they are AMAZING. There was absolutely a noticeable improvement in my shots. Dead straight down the middle on a clean shot. As long as these are available I will be buying them, they are the only ball I will use moving forward.
I picked up a box of these last week and they definitely fly straighter. With that said, I was still able to shape a shot when I needed to. We were playing on a course I had never played and on one particular shot I got myself in trouble under a tree on the right side of the fairway on a par 5. I was 150 yards out, but my only shot at the green was to play it out to the left and fade in back. Hit a 7 iron with the club face slightly open. The ball started left and came back perfectly to the right. I missed the green, but was just off to the left, pin high.
With so many ball manufacturers now making a florescent version of their premium ball, would love to see you do a comparison between the regular white version and the florescent. Pro v1, Bridgestone tour XB S, etc.
In 1995 there was a conforming golf ball with a 'counter-active' dimple pattern. It claimed to reverse the balls spin. The ball was the Slazenger 420i. They were a cheap 2 piece ball with strange patterned variable depth dimples. When I tested it on the golf course with a few other Pros we concluded that it worked. It didn't fly as far as many balls, and it obviously didn't have the feel of the Titleist Professional of the day. But, I used it to pass my PGA Players Ability Test on Dec. 16, 1996 at Camelback GC in Scottsdale Arizona.
I know you said you didn't see much decrease in length off the tee, but as a 280yd driving golfer, I would absolutely sacrifice 5 or 10 yards to be straighter 20% of the time from a conforming golf ball. Also, 20% straighter is 16 straighter shots per round for someone like me that averages high 70s low 80s in a round.
BRO! These work! I've only been golfing a year, and had pretty much given up on using my driver since 90+% of my drives slice hard right never to be found. Watched your video and immediately decided to give them a try picking up 2 dozen on Amazon. Finally hit the course today, and I'm happy to say that I hit fairways more than 50% of the time. And rarely sliced one out of play. The one thing I didn't like, is that the cover of the ball is crap. One bunker shot and my ball was like 60 grit sandpaper. But other than that. This is literally a game changer for me! Now if I could just fickin' learn to chip and putt, I"d be golden!!!
I am super intrigued by these. I hit a pretty straight ball as it is but I have a fade that can hurt me at times. Fantastic review and I can't wait for the follow up one with amateur golfers.
When teeing them up if you look at the dimples there is a triangle pattern that if you line the top of the triangle up to where you want to aim they are amazing. Believe it says on the box.
Hi Rick, thanks for this demo, very interesting. Why not try to play fades and draws with it? I guess that to be straighter there is less lateral spin, but then also less back spin, no? Thanks, cheers
Rick have you tried the Wilson Triad golf balls? they claim to go straight and have feel interested in your thoughts as your testing is always so thorough
Yes Rick I would love to see more amateurs doing testing on big platforms and I know I am in the majority because I read that comment consistently on RUclips golf channel‘s comments sections. Thank you for testing and affordable ball. Maxfli is owned by Dick‘s sporting goods here in the USA the straight fly ball is usually on sale for 30 bucks for two dozen
Been using their center balanced balls for the last couple years and keeping meticulous notes. I also confirm (and exclude) all the balls are centered using a spin balancer and the stats (for me) do not lie. I'm a little OCD so I've even gone as far as asking my partner(s) to select and place the ball on the tee to be sure I'm not biasing my swings. As embarrassing as all that sounds, the stats still don't lie, and I'm hooked. I've not tried these but will. Mayfly seems to be onto something.
Yes please! I'll even volunteer to be the amateur! Although I must say, I've only been watching you since I started golfing - last May- and I've never seen you hit 3 balls in a row straighter.
I have not played for some years but suffer quite a bad slice. I even have an offset driver which I have to open the face to sometimes get the ball to go straighter!
I bought these about a month ago, and I am not sure if it’s a placebo effect or if they have helped, but they seemed to work for me. I have found more fairways and my iron shots haven’t gone horribly wrong. It could be that I have gotten better, but I haven’t lost a full box of these yet, so I call that a win!
I have used these almost exclusively for the last year. They do make bad shots slightly less bad I can attest to that. And I actually don't find them to be rocks. I have used balls that are much harder. Really, thanks for reviewing them Rick because I kept wanting someone to.

If Maxfli have exploited the maximum extent of non-uniform dimple pattern and it works, I bet we see more companies tey something similar
Ya I would love to see this comparison as well
Don't know about these, but the triads severely punish you with any slight mishits
Thank you for all your help Rick, your a great teacher. You've made golf fun and interesting. What's your favorite course?
I played Maxfli balls back in the 1980s. They felt soft and performed well on and around the greens.
Just received a box of these as a gift. Can't wait to try them out. But in addition the amateurs I'd also like to see how they perform on and around the greens, control, backspin, putting, etc.
Great content as usual. Hit my driver straight for the first time today and putted for par on two holes. Overall not a bad day for someone who has only played a bit over a year
We Share the Same fate - hardly play 3 - 5 Rounds a Season
We Share the Same fate - hardly play 3 - 5 Rounds a Season. To shoot it straight I do use the Cobra F - Max draw biased and it works :)
I’ve been playing these for 3 years. I like them. They keep my fade from turning into a slice. They do run a bit on greens so I tend to play for the front of greens. Very affordable and durable. Callaway’s Supersoft stops more on the greens but I tend to spray them more.
Id be curious to see how mid and higher number players would do. Thanks Rick! Always solid.
I love the giggle after each straight shot! Classic RS!

I love the chuckles after each one of the straight drives at the end! 😀I'd love to see some amateurs hitting those balls to get a good test from them.
Hi Rick!!!
The most consistent straight driving I've seen you hit since I've subscribed to your channel.👍
Rick, a great video as always.
It would be so great to to a "scientific" experiment with blanked out balls andtwo groups one that gets the maxfli and one that thinks they get the maxfli but gets at generic brand, and then after tracking their stats for a month or so the groups switch golf balls.
Would be interesting but the dimple pattern might give them away.
I started using these last summer, and oh my god are they awesome. Its not a cure for a bad swing, but it keeps you into the game mentally. Its nice to finally feel like i have some sort of control. All though i bought some Mizuno mp-20 SEL irons and screwed that all up lol.
Second shot…”that was a poor strike…” I will always take your poor strikes in my bag Rick! 😂😂😂
Great video!
Thanks for testing these balls. I will trying them myself this spring.
Hahaha give me a few wacks and I’ll show you it doesn’t fly straight haha.
Cheers
You are the most entertaining golf dude on youtube.
Singapore Golf Hustlers will be trying these balls, thanks for the recommendations Mr Rick Shiels
Rick!!!! What you need to do is grab the swingless golf club and try to make a side-spinny shot with one of these balls and a regular golf ball.
unbelievably straight! great shots. looking forward to the follow-up video 😍👍

I'm Quite new to the game of golf and my shots go everywhere. Left, right, straight. You name I hit it. Am happy to give these a test for you
Rick, just love your videos mate.
This is another good one.
Look forward to seeing how the amateurs go with these balls.

You should do a review of the softfli version of the maxfli, been using them for a few years and there my favorite affordable golf ball!
Definitely would like to see more with these, you have me intrigued!
As a senior I play the old reliable Top Flite distance …they go strait and long for my lower swing speed
Over the last year I have seen you hit a lot of drives and that ball impressed me a lot 😜
Love the video and the idea of the ball! Please come out with part 2 soon👏🏼👏🏼
BRO!
I use this ball. Amazing. Highly recommend it!
This ball is the real deal. Maybe not for a tour pro but its fantastic for a new player who wants to gain some control. I’ll play these quite a while.
Thank you Rick, your review has perked my interest to try them.
As a terrible golf I can honestly say these have helped straighten my game out
Rick have you tried the Wilson Triad golf balls? they claim to go straight and have feel interested in your thoughts as your testing is always so thorough
Over the winter I use Pinnacle soft made by Titleist...wonder have you ever tested the pinnacle soft?

He's helped me so much with my golfing 😂 he's such a good teacher and the way he explains things is understandable
Maxfli ext are great too .I still like playing them especially to putt with
Yes please! I'll even volunteer to be the amateur! Although I must say, I've only been watching you since I started golfing - last May- and I've never seen you hit 3 balls in a row straighter.
I still play maxfli ext golf balls they are great
Hey Rick, I love your videos, just wondering if you can do a video on the sack and load swing vs the conventional swing. Thanks Rick
Was waiting for the alternating shots between your game ball and these. That would be a great test too.
I have not played for some years but suffer quite a bad slice. I even have an offset driver which I have to open the face to sometimes get the ball to go straighter!
Played a round with these. Didn't lose one ball and they flew straighter as advertised. Great value for the price
