If your going to make a set I now stagger the holes so they don’t line up makes them stronger. A good idea suggestion from one of my viewers. See comments above.
Hi John I just bungee them down on top of my drawer system they stay in place. When I eventually get my topper I’ll probably mount them outside at that point. Thanks for watching and commenting! Enjoy your Mojave!
Hello. Wonderful idea. Which thickness did you use? Which space between bolts and bolts? Which space between bolts and holes? Hole diameter? Thank you.
3/8 x 2” bolts and 3/8 x 2 1/4” bolts because my store didn’t have enough of either. Works fine either way. Wood was 2x 10 southern yellow pine. Hope diameter for the bolts was 7/64 but you could also use 3/8 bit. 2” diameter spade bit for the big holes. As far as spacing goes don’t sweat it just eyeball it as close as you can. They will perform the same. I like to alternate rows between 3 & 4 bolts per row. Start in the middle and work twords the ends about 2 inches apart but again I didn’t measure I just put them where they looked good to me! Good luck and I promise they will be the best boards you use for getting out of the mud and muck.
Hi Dan I didn’t lay them out I just spaced them by eye. I would make a small modification by alternating then in a zig zag pattern so they are not all in a row. A viewer pointed out alternating then would be stronger and I agree. I have not had a or problem with the way they are currently but always looking to improve my designs. Thanks for watching and commenting
Excellent! it gives me a lot of ideas for making my recovery boards
Thanks Javier let me know what you come up with I’m always looking to improve my designs
great Scott, this is genius. The reusability of the lag bolts, and the stiffer characteristics of the 2x10 Make this build far superior to plastic
Thanks I thought they were a good idea too! Thanks for watching and sharing take care!

Great idea ! Very nice work ! How do you keep them in your Mojave ? Keep on keeping on.

Staggering the bolts would make for a stronger board. Having the holes on a line across is like the puncturing that you see in tear-off paper.
Hi George that’s a great idea next time I make a set I’ll give it a shot. Take care!
Hello.
Wonderful idea.

did you get a chance to test them yet? would be nice to see a demo video. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Joe I have been meaning to make a video on using them I will do that soon. Thanks for the comments and for watching!
Use a socket mounted in your drill to install and remove lag bolts
That is a great tip for sure 👍. Thanks
Nice. How much do they end up weighing?
I never weighed them but I would guess them to be 20 lbs give or take
I didn't hear You say how far apart the rows are?

@@MojaveTrails 👍 thanks... I am going to do that next time. And use larger lag bolts. I appreciate Your attention to details
@@danparisi8093 Sure Dan glad I could help!

That’s the “ish”. Part. I never claimed to be good at math! Thanks for watching and commenting!
