In this context, i remember one of the famous stories of the Buddha when he was sitting under one tree with his disciples. He took some leaves in his hand and ask
the disciples if they can see any other leaves besides those in his hands. His favorite disciple Ananda said, the leaves of autumn are falling from all sides and there are thousands of leaves more than can be numbered. Buddha smiled and said, likewise i have given you a handful of truths but there are thousands of other truths more than can be numbered!. Attaining Samadhi is not the end but that is just an beginning to experience the infinite!! Hari Anant Hari Katha Anant!! Shubham Bhawatu.

@@danukashewantha3029 You must read Tripurantaka episode, it is fascinating.
Asuras (Assyrians i.e. Iraqis) had three cities (Tripuras). It was a confederation of 3 city-states
      a) Ur, Akkadian,
      b) Uruk, Sumerian,
      c) Ninevah, Assyria.
Initially, they were worshippers of Shiva (because their ancestors had migrated from India to Iraq). But, Asuras (Assyrians i.e. Iraqis) had a love-hate relationship with Devas (Indians). There were wars on the borders, but also marital relationship & trade & knowledge exchange.
Around 1700-1500 BCE, Asuras (Assyrians i.e. Iraqis) converted to Buddhism. After their conversion to Buddhism, there was a massive earthquake in mediterranean & middle east which caused volcanic eruptions, floods & tsunamis. The 3 powerful city-states of Assyrians (Iraqis) were destroyed.
Indian epics remember this history as Tripurantaka (Shiva). Indians believed that Assyrian cities were destroyed due to anger of Shiva for giving up on Shaivism & converting to Buddhism... It is just a way of remembering an important occassion in human civilization.

@@minthura9053 I see caste system as varna you can deny it but you definitely fit into the caste system somewhere.
It isn't a bad structure, it became bad when people made it rigid as in one could not attain qualities of other varnas it turmoiled to disgusting discrimination.
That's the societal aspect of Hinduism. And is the reason for survival of Hinduism since ancient times. There have been many Indian modern times who defied rigid caste system and to protect society gained qualities of particular varna and followed their dharma. For example, chatrapati shivaji maharaj he was a shudra in modern rigid concept yet bcz invaders in India were very cruel he lift the sword and followed his righteous Kshatriya dharma 1000 times better than corrupt Kshatriyas at the time.
It's the qualities of one that decide varna and dharma.
As of today I'd be a shudra as a mere engineer. If time comes I might become Brahmin or get out of this all being a sadhu.

High respect for Sadhguru jhi. I listen to his words all the time which gives immense peace and harmony. What I would like to add is it’s not right to compare Shiva and Buddha. Shiva is one of the three gods in Hindu Triumvirate. Shiva is said to be the destroyer god and most powerful god in Hindu religion. Whereas Buddha is not a god as in creator or destroyer. He was born as a human like any of us in one of Shakya Clan. Later after tremendous hardship and pain he became the enlightened one which is highest level of awareness one can achieve. He’s free from the cycle of rebirth, free from samsara. He is said to be a teacher, philosopher and a spiritual leader.
Nothing disrespect but Sadhguruji words sounded little more biased towards Shiva. He could have used better words to explain the difference. No love lost. Deep respect to Sadhguru ji.

When Sadhguru says 60 thousands years,it is a fact because, latest research shows people from Africa settled in India some 60-70 thousand years ago and genetic records now show the same thing.
Oldest non Africa Dna comes around 60000 years for male population and 70 thousand for female population.
Shiva is considered as first civilised being who taught mankind all the things.
There were many like Gautam Buddha and there was even Mahavira and 23 such monks before Buddha who preached the same methodology.
Buddha is believed to be 9th incarnation of Vishnu and he came to bring Hindus out of their ritualistic path as Hindus had forgotten the reasons and we're just following things without logic.
He came he brought awekening and his message spread throughout the east.
Then Adi Shankaracharya came, a hindu guru who spread again whole message of Hinduism and reconverted whole subcontinent back to hinduism.
Although Buddhism is a philosophy of Hinduism or branch of Hinduism,it was unidimensional and hence Shankaracharya brought the whole subcontinent back to Hindu roots.

If I may, I don't believe Buddha as Sri Vishnus incarnation. An offset learned disciple surely. I believe Balarama as the last existing reincarnation and he too as all Avatars have had a Shiva-Vishnu Prema Bhakti confluence, Sri Hanuman took on to mentor Balarama and showcased the final act that set in tone all modern man in the image from Balarama. Ofcourse by then a large set of humans were already on path thanks to the Supreme God head Sri Krishna. But Balarama finalized the last descent for homo sapien sapien to take over. Ofcourse the history cancelled culture Balarama for following sitreps but Sri AdiShankaracharya 🙏🏼 would reinstate the Dharma as to the spiritual path we know as Sanatana Dharma world over today. Again, note I also believe Sri AdiShankaracharya came wayyyyy before the advent of Buddhism or systematic Joraestrian or Judaism.

Gautama Buddha and Lord Shiva are very great people. But we are only a very small group of people who try to follow them. We should try to assimilate at least one of the qualities they taught us into our lives. But we should not compare them.
We don't know where we lived before, and we don't know where we will be born after death.
That is why it is most important for us humans to live well with the human spirit we have received.

Buddha was born a Hindu Prince in Lumbini, which is in present day Nepal. He went thru “sadhana” for many years, perfected meditation that was already in practice and he was the first one perhaps to attain Nirvana; started teaching his methods and preaching his disciples. His teachings reached Tibet part of China where it became a religion “Buddhism”. For the Hindus, in Nepal and in India, Buddha is just another Guru- like Saints … Hindu temples have Buddha’s statues … Hindus worship Buddha just like they would worship any other form of Gods; there’s no difference for a Hindu. He is not separate.

@@rajeshsalve8156 you seem to be someone who has some knowledge about these things- strange that such comment is coming from you ..
Let me clarify that I’m from a country where Buddha was born - where almost 100% of people (all religions) worship Buddha - either as a God, a teacher/Guru, an enlightened one .. we get a National holiday on “Buddha Jayanti”. So, I hope you understand the sentiment here ..
Hinduism/Buddhism/Sikhism/Jainism- all have “Dharmik” origin they are not “Abrahamic” religions where they believe in one God. Hence, perhaps, every time there’s a new religious teacher - they started their own religion- Judaism, Christianity, Islam .. etc
Where as, Hinduism, at the time, was open to different schools of thoughts - Buddha being born a Hindu was seeking for a Higher knowledge, a way to break the cycle of life and death, attain Nirvana .. he practiced Meditation which was already a part of Sanatan Dharma .. he was, however, the first one to attain Nirvana … He never said “I am God” .. “I am the only truth” .. “I am son of God” .. “start a religion on my name” … NO SIR - he didn’t say that .. he showed how each and everyone of us have the aatma within us ; how we can find the inner self via meditation and hence attain Nirvana…
So, how could you compare an entirely different religion based on an entirely different “Theology“ to a religion that’s based on different “Theology” …
I’m not comparing one religion to another - so, No, Jesus born as Jew - his teachings reaching where ever and becoming whatever of that has no similarities to Buddhas teachings reaching Tibet and becoming the present day “Buddhism” …
To a lot of Hindus, Buddhism was like a sub sect within Sanatan Dharma ..
He is even considered as yet another avatar/incarnation of Lord Vishnu .. for Hindus, Buddha is yet another God .. Guru.. the one who showed path to break the cycle of births .. !!!

Glad you 2 beautiful souls are exploring shiva!
Would like to mention, there is a huge possibility of shiva being an extraterrestrial being, even Sudguru doesn't reject that and also he doesn't speak more on that since Indians are very sensitive when it comes to shiva's topic. Shiva has a height of about 10 ft as per ancient texts, also his semen is highly potent that it can reproduce 7 women at a time and his time gaps are 10-15 years (when he leaves and come back Kailash, which is highly suspicious) and the amount of knowledge he owns ( humanly impossible) and the time he took to divide and transfer that knowledge to sapta rishis ( 7 sages) is beyond imaginable, and lastly out of 33 million gods shiva's origin is only not mentioned in any texts and yet he has a profound role in Hinduism...like this many interesting things are mentioned. Read more on shiva guys. it's really interesting!

You know, Hinduism is not a religion. Buddhism is really not a religion.
The idea of a culture to have a "religion" is a western thought process.
Hindus before globalisationa and British occupation were just Indians, and all that we call "Hindu"-religion, were just traditions and cultures and way of life- Dharma. Buddhism is also Hinduism. Sikh, Jain, Lingayats and so many more are all facets of "Hinduism".
Even the present day "hindus" don't realise this. The idea of having a god and ways to worship is too rudamentary a concept to describe something as vast as "Hinduism".
You guys are doing a wonderful job exploring this amazing spiritual way of life, and hence i wanted to help you realise that for you to truly embrace these philosophies, you have to shed the notion of these ideas and concepts being religion of god and teachers.

Firstly, Buddhism overtime became a separate religion whereas Gautama Buddha born as a kshatriya(Hindu) prince went on a soul searching journey and is considered to be an avtar of Lord Vishnu. Buddhism is a segment of Hinduism and isn't a new religion. When you read Bhagavad Gita you will find everything Buddha believed in and taught very much word by word written there. 🙏🌸

@Rajeev Singh, if prince Siddhartha had have a teacher or followed other people's spiritual practice, then he wouldn't have been called Sammasambuddha; the Arahant, the Perfectly Enlightened One, is the originator of the path unarisen before, the producer of the path unproduced before, the declarer of the path undeclared before. He is the knower of the path, the discoverer of the path, the one skilled in the path. And his disciples now dwell following that path and become possessed of it afterwards.
