Why do people follow Cathie woods isn’t she wrong almost all the time?
Cathie has a following of average investors who are bias towards certain stocks. When stock picking it is best to have a mentor who has a feel for sentiment and positioning of both institutional and individual investors.

There's not a single good investor who doesn't have a 5+ year time horizon. You have to either be lucky or have insider information to make more money any other way.

She metioned Twilio is better stock than Nvidia in AI a yar ago. Twilio is up 30% in 1 year and Nvidia is up 210%, really doubt her ability to read market, technology, and picking stock
When a stock runs up tremendously like NVDA, you take profit. Not sure why your brain can't figure this out. Yea, you could have been greedy and kept holding, and in this case you would have got lucky and it worked in your favor. But sometimes hogs get slaughtered.

@@maryirwin6015 For my long term account, I will be buying some, in fact I am planning to pick some up tomorrow. This is a good opportunity to buy if you plan to hold tesla for over a year or longer. If you are looking to make a quick trade, then yea, stay away from Tesla as it most likely will continue down in the near future.

Hertz literally dumped 20K Teslas from their fleet. We are going into a slow down. People have record credit card debt. Nobody's trying to buy MORE expensive less practical vehicles. We'll add this to the things Cathie's been wrong about.
Hertz sold most cars with high mileage and more ICE than tesla.
Tesla is cheaper than many gas vehicles in its class after incentives.

Woods has been one of the best contra-indicators at CNBC, and her staggering losses prove it. If she says most cars sold in 5 years will be electric, expect to see most cars sold in 5 years to be ICE or hybrids.

Doesn’t take a rock scientist to figure this out but the infrastructure just won’t be there to make this possible in 5 years. We needed to stay with hybrid cars first and built out the market for large charging stations to be able to handle the electric cars and trucks in the roads during that time frame. Just a miss that will have a bearing on that market. The auto market is shot and is suffering right now…nobody is buying a car and I’m waiting for an honest news report on that…😮

Everything looks better in 5 years, you could argue. It’s also gotta be looking comfortable to get there too. If you’re 95, in failing health and stuck in bed all day, 5 years means you’re dead. Hertz raised the price on renting an EV for uber drivers, it doesn't make sense anymore to rent an EV from Hertz to drive for uber

They do it all the time man. Take Uber a lot and the drivers have rented Teslas a lot of the time. They save 60% on gas and can charge at home.
It is really hard to be both an analyst and a salesman.
Their will be many competetiors in the future too i don't know how her vision can be stuck with one company only ( tesla is now at 164 )

Understanding the limitations of EV technology and how ill-suited it is to rural settings in particular, I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with Ms. Wood. We may see further growth in EV sales, of course, but it's going to be mostly in urban settings where travel distances are short and more favorable to how EVs function. They don't do well cross-country and most people aren't going to put up with hours of charging instead of minutes of pumping gas on road trips without a very compelling reason. I also have to wonder how much more charging infrastructure will be constructed in that period, as a lot more is needed to accommodate a significant increase in the number of EVs on the road.
How many days per year do you travel on long road trip vs daily commute? BTW, tesla supercharging takes less than 20 minutes to charge up to 80%. Would you prefer to wake up fully charged daily and the car is warm/cool before you enter the car?
There are many more new tech features in Tesla than any ICE vehicles.
@@Phil42069 I don't commute and was going on a lot of road trips over the past year, and those were on a pretty tight schedule (one way) with a distance of 314 miles each way. Add in winter performance concerns (batteries aren't so great in the cold) and reliability concerns with the car and the chargers, and I wouldn't want to risk it.
I don't care much about tech features in a car. Mine plays music from a USB stick and that's good enough for me.
And a layer on top of the charging infrastructure that must also be expanded is the power generation and distribution infrastructure. Current loads are already pushing the limits on existing grids, they need a big investment to be expected to sustain the extra demand by new vehicles transitioning from gas to electricity as fuel.
All I can say is…I don’t think so.

Hahaha. Resale value for a ev is absolute trash. Buy a used ev for 20k then replace the battery for 15k. Yeah ok. Do the research on a replacement battery for cars. Ioniq 5 is 60k for some people. Hahahah
The reason why a replacement batter is so expensive now is because there isnt a service parts inventory built up yet. The guy who knows more about manufacturing than anyone else hasnt figured out how to make more than needed.
Do you know what it takes to make a ev battery? Do some research. Its disturbing.
When I saw this headline I thought no way she said that so I watched and sure enough 3:25 there it is. Unbelievably short-sighted statement. I like Cathie as a person but lately this just makes no sense to me.
She had good years as a bull in a bullish market, but not even close on this one. She has no clue about the amount of electricity needed to power all those EVs. Would take 20 years to build the power infrastructure alone.

Most cars sales will not be electric. Where are the charging stations? As we have seen in Chicago and other places, you can't charge the darn things if it is cold. Where's the infrastructure to support the electrical grid? Give me a Hybrid, but you have to wait a long time to get them as well, but at least it takes gas and you aren't stranded.

Chargers are in California, I'm going to Yosemite this month, was worried about not having charging stations, there are stations just at the park itself. Outside of California, I'm guessing it's pretty bad. They will only add more chargers if there are more buyers. In California, all I see are Teslas

TESLA will be under pressure for the next 6+ (150ish) months unless there is FSD breakthrough ... wall street is in the show me the money now mode ... long term looks hopeful-promising ....? short term is all based on FSD development ...... further delays will toast the stock ... the energy and T2 will help in the middle long term ...

These comments are a riot. EVs are less practical? Hybrid is the future? EVs aren't worth it because of challenges in cold weather? What is this, 2014 again?
Keep buying gas guzzlers and paying $5,000/year in fuel then. I'll stick with my EVs and pay zero for transportation (thanks to solar) and use the money to go to Hawaii every year. Oh and maintenance is near zero and there are no repairs in the years I've had an EV (since 2018). If you are a road tripper keep a gas guzzler for the few times per year you drive out of state. 90% of miles driven are in a 50 mile radius, no need for public charging.

TESLA can partner with NIO in China where Nio will be the owner of the swap stations and Tesla can own or control the majority of the shares in the rest of the world, the way biopharmaceuticals do, this will favor not only Tesla but the adoption of EV by the rest of the manufacturers, Tesla may be in a position to control the market of consumers who prefer either of the two mentioned options, advantage for the consumer, they can send the car to change the battery at night autonomously when the electricity is cheaper and stabilize the network
