I love late-period Anglo-Saxon Drawing. I also tend to find drawings more interesting than paintings. It's lovely to hear someone taking Anglo-Saxon Drawing seriously as works of Art. Excellent!

I learned so much from this. I woulda been happy to draw a manuscript, but it seems like now is the best time to be alive.

Brilliant lecture.. really enjoyed it. Plus, I often revisit, to refresh my notes.

as an art graduate i must say, that valuing drawing more then painting is bold at least

I think if you keep it in context with these kind of manuscripts, I see what she means. Shes looking at it with a technical eye than an artist's eye (in any other context I'd probably agree with you)

Waldemar Januszczak is not a credible art critic and it is important to be reminded of that

Not really. A good grounding in foundations leads to more effective representational paintings.

Medieval!!!! What exactly does that mean nowadays
Nothing.. people use it mostly for post Saxon England.
    Be specific.
We don't use vague terminology anymore.
Church didn't create the Saxon *ambiguous ' art work
Because its pagan more than Christian.
Christianity doesn't have anything of its own.
Look at sutton hoo artifacts , that's real Saxon art .

Christian artwork isn't really anything to do with Saxon art.
    Its Christian art ,
9:16 isn't dissimilar to the Norman artwork inside the 11th century StAlbans abby/ cathedral , which was whitewashed during the reformation and during recent years painstakingly removed to reveal the wonderful images, gives an idea of how brightly colourful the inside of churches were before protestantism decided it idolatrous , empty niches where stone carved saints once filled .
    Vandalism, absolutely pointless vandalism.
Thanks to the Tudor usurpers, especially Henry 8th and his son Edward, who was a rabid protestant.
Just like his big sister 'bloody" queen Mary was a rabid catholic
All religions extremists are terrible dangerous people.
Angel's - Christian stole Angel's from Roman coins
Winged gods or goddesses like victory.
