      @randomperson8375 Год назад +9

      It wasn't, as far as I'm aware. Zelda sealing away Calamity Ganon was basically just another instance of what happened in the previous Calamity. If that was the end of it and Tears of the Kingdom wasn't a thing, Calamity Ganon would probably just spring up again in another 10,000 years once enough Malice had built up.

    • @madscientist347
      @madscientist347 Год назад

      Here's my take
      Actually it's no better than the seal that was originally made, ganon will wake up again after thousand of years only if ganondorf "the source of misma" is alive. At the end of totk link and zelda defeated ganondorf the source so probably ganon will not exist without the source

  • @andres_carepez
    @andres_carepez Год назад +6

    As much as I wanted to like BOTW... it just didn't do it for me. When Ocarina came out, the N64 was the peak of consoles regarding performance, and the whole 3D games were revolutionary back then. But when BOTW came out, there were plenty of games on other consoles running at 1080p-60fps and even 4K, so I found the resolution and framerate a bit distracting, as well as the whole open world idea and having hundreds of weapons that would eventually break. And now that I'm watching the recap story, I just can't seem to find it interesting, lol. Not sure if it's me, or if Zelda is drifting away from its essence. I know TOTK will be similar, and I will play it no matter what, but I'd rather stick to using a normal-unbreakable sword, dungeons, and not being able to go straight to the final boss from the very start of the game. I did like the divine beasts as puzzle-filled dungeons tho, let's see what tears has to offer

    • @RylanStorm
      @RylanStorm Год назад +5

      @@adammason555 Nope. Breath of the Wild was lauded for it's open world gameplay and variety but it's widely accepted the story was lackluster.
      There's a lot of filler but the main plot is very weak.

    • @adammason555
      @adammason555 Год назад +3

      I disagree. The story isn’t spoon fed to you like in other games, but its an incredibly epic, emotional tale told unconventionally. Then there’s all the environmental storytelling going on around Hyrule as you explore. In short, there’s a lot of plot and I personally found it compelling.

    • @RylanStorm
      @RylanStorm Год назад +10

      @@adammason555 Yeah. That's not a plot. Those are side quests. The actual main storyline of BotW can easily be summarised as "Link wakes up from a 100-year-long nap to find that he's lost his memory. After forcing Link to prove unnecessarily that he's semi-competent, the king exposits that 100 years ago, Link and a team of heroes lost in a fight with Ganon and Zelda went to Hyrule Castle alone, managing to place a seal upon him. Now Link must go to Hyrule Castle and defeat Calamity Ganon and, if he feels like it (but only if he feels like it) he can make the fight easier by going and completing four dungeons."
      That is it. That is literally it.
      The whole game can be completed by clearing the first four shrines and then walking to the castle and completing a handful of boss fights and the whole game is reliant on the player seeking out the content.
      And whilst I accept that lots of games can be summarised very quickly very few can be summarised as quickly as Breath of the Wild.
      Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's devoid of content. It isn't. There's plenty to see and do and it leans strongly into allowing the players to make their own content which is good. It just doesn't have an epic and emotional plot. It's not even good storytelling since it's delivered almost entirely through exposition.
      If you're looking for games with a good story, a quick Google will find you plenty of lists, none of which contain Breath of the Wild.

    If you played Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity, that story erased this story. In Age of Calamity, Princess Zelda from the Breath of the Wild timeline accidentally sends a mini Guardian named Terrako back in time. Terrako is able to warn the inhabitants of Hyrule about the arrival of Calamity Ganon, allowing them to prepare for the upcoming conflict. Very frustrating and undermines fans who enjoyed this game and its story.

    • @frankkuncio2065

      Problem with that. Both Hyrule Warriors games are non-canon. Age of Calamity in particular people will argue due to discrepancies in the timeline of events.

      @jgodden8022 Год назад +14

      Except that AoC is essentially a parallel reality so it doesn't undermine anything whatsoever, especially when you consider that most people who played BotW have no idea what Hyrule Warriors even is...

    • @silverwind0861
      @silverwind0861 Год назад +3

      It's basically a different timeline. They dont mess with each other by any means. Also as the other two have stated, AoC isnt cannon in the slightest. Now it does give more character development for all the character's, but even that doesn't technically exist in the BOTW timeline.

    • @gustavojoserodriguez7475
      @gustavojoserodriguez7475 Год назад +4

      'Age of Calamity' included a major split in the 'BotW' timeline. It wouldn't be a Zelda game without an alternate timeline, and certainly by the end of Age of Calamity, it's abundantly clear that the original Breath of the Wild timeline has been split, placing Age of Calamity in its own divergent timeline.
      The nice clean Zelda timeline has been split once more. The Champions are aided by Riju, Teba, Sidon, and Yunobo, who arrive from the future to save the Divine Beasts. The different events allow Princess Zelda to control her powers at a much earlier point than in the Breath of the Wild timeline.
      At the end of Age of Calamity, Terrako sacrifices itself to mortally wound Calamity Ganon, allowing Princess Zelda to seal him away for good. This means the events of Breath of the Wild never happened, but they do exist as a separate timeline, as the characters who arrived from the future are sent back to their original time period. There is now a timeline where Zelda defeated Calamity Ganon and ushered in a new age of peace for Hyrule, and the original timeline, where Link sleeps for a century and Hyrule is devastated by Ganon's armies, exists as a separate entity.
      This raises the question of why this timeline was created? The Breath of the Wild sequel (Tears of the Kingdom) will almost certainly follow the events of the original game, but it's possible that Age of Calamity will be referenced by the characters who returned from the future.
